@oldshurst442 So you have no restaurant now due to the partner. Has the wife gone bonkers with you being home and wants you to get another place or job? What are you doing?

Cadillac News: Cadillac Electrifies an Icon with the Cadillac Escalade IQ
Just like how we have idiots in their rolling Coal trucks that ICE charging stations, you are right in that we do not have enough large data to know one way or another. Just like the Ship that sunk and the fires on ships that people are jumping to saying it was EVs that caused it. We have no idea if it was the EV battery packs, human error, human hatred of EVs that started the fires on the ships or what. Yes, poor battery cell design can lead to fire issues as was proven in the BOLT battery pack recall. Yet enough also has been done to know that over all with less flammable fluids in an auto, EVs tend to be safer from fires than ICE. Time will prove this out and of course fire departments around the world are learning how to deal with an EV fire issue and like you said, the by-pass of the battery pack to make it safe for emergency personal to extract folks from an accident also help.

What facts do you have to back up this fire hazard on batteries? Yes when they do burn, they are much harder to put out due to the in-experience of the fire fighters. In regards to fire hazard, I do not see how they are more fire prone than gas? This is only one of many stories on the FUD of people saying batteries are more prone to fires than gas. Government data show gasoline vehicles are up to 100x more prone to fires than EVs | Electrek

Watch and Timepiece Appreciation Thread
Just never wear a metal band watch when working on an auto and especially near the distributor. I in my youthful idiot days ignored my dad reminder to remove all jewelry and my watch and I fried an early watch when the metal band or strap touch the distributor and arch'd. OUCH, that was a smart hurtful moment. Never work anything metal on me again and could fully explain why I pretty much do not wear anything on my fingers or wrists since.

Sadly their habit is their habit. Stay focused on the dinning experience and if the service is top notch, then tip top notch and let them deal with their own bad habits. Kinda reminds me of the medical industry, it is amazing how many medical professionals smoke.

I would say that is an exception rather than the norm. It is amazing how many coworkers come from red states and they all tend to respond the same. WTF with all the various cans, garbage is garbage, throw it all in one can. Yes Seattle is very progressive in this regards as we have trash, recycling, compost as required cans in all businesses and for homes here. I personally like the fact that you throw all your greasy paper food containers in the yard/food compost bin. I do get that not every company from every red state is that way as I know that Dell in Austin has recycling cans in all the offices too.

Acura and Honda have joined the NACS camp for North America now. Probably GM had something to do with this.

Have to say I see the trucks and SUVs every day now around here where I live and with a new showroom opening up near me, will have to go check it out and see how I fit in the Rivian truck and SUV. Here's Why Rivian Might Be The 'Jeep' Of The EV World (topspeed.com) Hopefully @Drew Dowdell can get one of these as a press demo for the week and write up a review.

Beautiful Cars Appreciation Thread
@oldshurst442 My wife at our 10th wedding Anniversary bought me a Bulova watch. I have it, never wear it as I grew up working in my dad's auto shop and you never wear jewelry, watches, etc. I like the watch very much and will never part with it till I am cremated, but I doubt I will ever wear it as it just feels weird wearing it. Same with my wedding ring, after the first year, I have never worn it again. Course still married and going strong 33 years so far. Interesting how things have changed over time.

EV Show Rooms
Right now Tesla and GM seem to be the only ones that are offering home charging management, but others are talking about it too, so might be good to have a list of those companies offering home power management and if it allows V2H.

What did you do to your ride today?
Been Busy helping my son who bought a fixer upper house to move his growing family into. The best I have been able to do is run both the Escalade and SS through a new Touchfree auto wash system near my house and it did an outstanding job. $18 gets you an under-carriage wash, Power wash rims and then a multi-stage wash with two different soap soaks and then a tri-color wax, rainX application and one other thing I forget, but I felt for the money it was worth it as both autos are shinny and clean.

EV Show Rooms
Discussions about the EV dedicated show rooms such as Tesla, Rivian, and more. My Local Ford Lincoln dealership was always in one place with Lincoln no more than a foot note compared to the Ford Auto's. Lately Harrison Ford Lincoln has started construction on a dedicated EV Lincoln Show room. Will have to grab some pictures and post them. Excited to check it out. Lynnwood Porche is a new dealership and I see they were installing the Chargers front and center to the dealership this week. Will have to also grab some pictures and post them. Excited to check out the New Rivian dealership that is opening soon by me so I can actually test my large size body in one.
