  1. I don't understand...my recommendations were: Chevrolet Vega Pontiac Astre Chevrolet Chevette Scooter Pontiac Aztek Oldsmobile Omega Buick Skyhawk ...should I be offended?
  2. Oh! That's the Saab 6-cylinder from the mid-1960s!

Daihatsu and Hino are different companies...although about half owned by Toyota. Daihatsu and Hino dealers are not considered to be part of the Toyota empire.

Lexus was just recently introduced. Netz recently absorbed the Vista dealer network. The other networks are Toyopet, Corolla, and Toyota.
  5. There is an Altima coupe starting production in April of 2007. Whether or not this is it is open for debate, but there is a coupe coming. As for the FWD nature, there are styling characteristics that can denote FWD. The position of the windshield and front bumper in relation to the front wheels can tell you much. I, personally, believe that the vehicle pictured is different enough from the G35 and (absolutely different enough) from the 350Z to allow it to be sold along side them.
  6. The "pointless Sequoia" is priced TENS of thousands of dollars less. I rather thought the smaller and more expensive Land Cruiser was "pointless" after the introduction of the Sequoia...and yet they sold and made millions for Toyota. More power to them.
  7. It is the Altima coupe (and as nearly everyone has said, it's FWD). It will enter production in April 2007.

Really? "Can't hold back?" So you're one of those road ragers who actually pulls out a gun? No self-control?I fully understand the anger, but can't you express yourself without the language? If you can't, you may need to get some help. No "white trash" references here...just simple intelligence comments. Please try to use less harsh language. I like that this site allows a lower level of censorship than some other automotive forums, but there's no need to abuse it.
  9. What may be worse is when you find a car salesperson who can't drive stick. I've had it happen to me.

YellowJacket: As a former carsalesperson (and one who is suspicious of all salespeople), I wanted to be on your side...but I'm not. This is more my speed.NADA.com does not take into consideration condition of the vehicle. All vehicles there are assumed to be in excellent condition, and you started this chat by saying that your Impala was anything but. KBB.com, on the other hand, does have four levels of condition. I ran it based on "good" (not the top rating but above what I THINK your car should be, based on your description) and found it to be similar to the number the dealer gave you. And you want around $10,500 for a trade? That's nearly 100% more than it's worth. You're "upside down," and a dealer's nightmare. The only way I could see you getting your car paid off is by either tacking the current loan onto the new car (which is what you've described) or finding a more expensive car where they can sell it to you at MSRP and hide the $4,000 loss in the "profit." Neither one is going to make you happy. It's not always the dealer's fault. You owe too much on the car, you expect too much for the trade, and you expect to get a base model in the deal. I understand the desire...but you have to understand the reality. Nothing's free. The math is simple: you want a $15,500 car with a trade valued at under $7,000 with somewhere around $10,500 owed. That's approximately $19,500 plus tax and tags. Sell the Impala for $10,000, taking a $500 loss. Buy the car you desire (Altima or G6 or whatever) straight with no trade. That's my cent and a half (inflation, you know?).
  11. Plymouth was elimnated in 2001...Daimler-Benz and Chrysler merged in 1998.
  12. Understood. But if it weren't true, do you think they'd introduce the Pacifica and R-Class literally minutes apart at the NAIAS?
  13. Where did this little tidbit come from? According to Mercedes-Benz, the R-Class was developed entirely within the Mercedes-Benz side.
  14. Respectfully, you said "Daimler-Benz" who worked on the ForTwo, not the ForFour.Thank you.
  15. I don't have as many pictures...nor was I there on Saturday, but here are the ones I've posted. http://www.carspace.com/hudsonthedog
  16. No. The Smart ForTwo (the car typically thought of when you mention "Smart" cars) had nothing to do with Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi did most of the engineering work on the ill-fated ForFour, which has been cancelled.
  17. Saab is Swedish, just as Volvo is Swedish. Just like Lotus, TVR, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Vauxhall, Land Rover, Jaguar, and Aston Martin are English...Opel is German...Lamborghini is Italian...Dacia is Romanian...Chrysler is American.
  18. There's more to the world than the US. Isuzu sells (relatively well) in most of the world...GMC does not.
  19. Two days here. Anyone going to be there Friday?
  20. Mitsubishi Fuso and Isuzu commercial truck are not as bad as you might think. These two linking up could prepare them for the further consolidation in the medium/heavy truck market. VW is buying into MAN. Scania, Volvo/Renault, DaimlerChrysler, PACCAR, and others have all been on the move in the recent past.
  21. Yamaha YFZ450
  22. Haven't you seen "40-Year Old Virgin"?
  23. He likes Coldplay?
  24. I agree with much of what you said, so let me just remind you of... 1998 Chrysler Phaeton.
