  1. It does feel every bit as cheap as it looks, but it's actually got newer more reliable components, go figure!
  2. Negatron. Semi-on-topic. Do you play Gran Turismo?? Yeah, I have GT6 and the G27 Logitech racing wheel. Funny thing is, I only played the game for a couple weeks before it got shelved because my cat was in a wire-chewing phase and then we moved. Plus every time I looked for a specific modern car, I came up empty handed and it reminds me that it's still essentially GT4 with MAYBE 100 legitimately new cars (and I'm being generous) spanning 2004-2013. No meaningful DLC packs or anything. It's a f@#king blast playing with the stick shift and clutch pedal though.
  3. Any gamers following E3? This is the best show in years, and not just because I've got a perma-boner from the shock of seeing Final Fantasy VII unveiled on PS4.
  4. I think it's a strategy on Chrysler's part. Get the car out there so people know quality has truly changed. I bet Toyota is just fluffing their numbers to stay #1 in the segment.
  5. You should try running premium before a trip like that and see how your fuel econ turns out. Couple folks at our old forum had Cruze turbos that loved premium, would get several more mpg and feel better doing it. Totally offset the cost difference.

  7. Man, I wish my car was as easy to tune as the 1.4T. I could make a safe 20 hp and 30 lb-ft gain in 30 minutes on your car. There are tunes that make 200 whp on that powertrain. That's overkill, IMO, and not reliable, but it can make a healthy 160 hp/180 lb-ft on premium gas no problem.

Those are extremely common luxury car tiers: Audi A4 and A6 Lexus IS and GS MB C-class and E-class Acura ILX and TLX All Cadillac has to do is continue building its reputation, and yes advertising is an important part of that. Fair enough....but-what does it really have going for it, say against the E class or the GS? It does have the looks (really growing on me now), but at least to me does not stand out in any huge way...... It's got something, because it was picked MT Car of the Year directly over the new 5 Series and E-Class. Exterior design and driving dynamics sealed the deal, for $60,000 the Vsport is a real powerhouse luxury-sport package. Next year with the upgraded powertrains and the full-on V-series, the CTS lineup will be world class across the board.
  9. I wasn't aware of the super slim either until I had to shop for a replacement. It's less than half the size of the original brick, just look at the size compared to the controller. Instead of front-loading the disk, the top panel slides out of the way to reveal the drive.

  11. I'm pretty sure that $27k Regal base price is a mistake at the Buick site. In the build feature it starts at $29,900 before destination, which is between the 1LTZ and 2LTZ trims on the Malibu, which makes sense because it has the 2.0T and a leather interior nicer than the Chevy counterpart. The Lacrosse is positioned oddly because it's technically a roomy midsize car with a much smaller trunk than the Impala, but it's moved upmarket significantly since it released. There used to be an un-assisted 2.4L base engine with full cloth seats and WHEEL COVERS. I think the price started at $27k. I expect the next Lacrosse to start around $35k and take another step up in luxury status.
  12. My 1st gen finally started crashing on me while playing PS3 games. Processor was overheating. I had a 160 gb 7200 rpm hard drive swapped into it, so a year or so ago I bought a super slim ps3 "core system" (no HDD) for $199 and put the drive in there. The old brick still does backward compatibility just fine, the original PS3s actually had PS2 hardware in them, the newer ones used limited emulation software. @SalesmanSean - I never wound up getting a PS Vita, I was waiting on a slimmer version. It finally came out, but the game library had really let me down. I've got a couple PSPs though, a 2000 series slim and a PSPgo. Still use them. I think the Vita went too high-end. Developers apparently didn't see any appeal in forking out console-game production costs for such a limited audience, and parents are drawn to the durable clamshell design of the Nintendo 3DS for their kids.
  13. Buicks pretty much are equivalent to Chevy LTZ models. Only the Verano and Encore offer cloth at all, and the Verano starts at $21k, not $26k. They're surprisingly nice leatherette-lined seats with cloth inserts that are nicer fabric than Chevy gets. Keep in mind, the Verano's prime competition was the Acura ILX, which fell hilariously short until Honda performed an extensive refresh this past year and a new Verano is right around the corner. The Regal has standard leather and buyer's choice of the mild hybrid or 2.0T. The Lacrosse makes due with the mild hybrid or LFX V6. I actually like the idea that old people can buy a sub-200 horsepower version for efficiency. The eAssist system might be outdated, but how relevant is it to compare models this long in the tooth to brand new competition? Of course they seem mediocre now. A new Lacrosse has already been spotted in camo.
  14. Also, if it reassures you any, my PS3 superslim came with an outdated Netflix App that couldn't even update. After I deleted it, the only way to get Netflix back was to manually download the new app from the Playstation Store and it appeared right where it was supposed to be under TV services. Maybe the 1st gen PS3 doesn't show the TV services tab because it doesn't have any preloaded TV service apps.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they had sped up. This total dipsh*t was clogging the fast lane on I-95 yesterday, kept speeding up to upper 70s and then dropping to mid 60s--like literally tapping his brakes on an open straight away--it was blatantly ego driving because his speed picked up every time someone drove by. It was making everyone around him drive all aggro and ramping up the danger factor with otherwise light traffic. That really sucks though, dude. What's the word on the truck? Not going to buy it after that experience?
  16. Haha, it's funny you almost PM'ed me. I have a 1st gen PS3 at home that I use for PS1 and PS2 games, it's one of the original release 20 gb models actually. I'll hook it up and work with you on this if you don't get it sorted out today. At home we watch netflix on two PS3s (different rooms). One is a slim, the other's a super-slim.
  17. I googled Netflix and 1st gen PS3 and it appears that there are people out there watching Netflix on them. I don't see why it wouldn't, all PS3s are essentially computers with the same Sony operating system firmware. Maybe double check that her PS3 is updated, and then search the Netflix app on playstation network. Some features have to be manually activated in the list of settings, too.

  19. I've been learning HPTuners since the beginning of the year, I'm taking it one step at a time and experimenting on my car (very carefully). Right now I'm studying AFR and DFCO. I noticed that my Malibu (3.6L VVT, DOHC, port-injected) is commanding an AFR of 14.1 while cruising and 11.9 under Power Enrichment. Everything I've read says those numbers are very rich an N/A motor, should be more like low 15s and mid 12s respectively. Anyone care to discuss this with me? Also if anyone is familiar with HPTuners, is there a simple method to bump up the commanded numbers so I can gauge any improvement? I can post the tune if someone wants to take a look.

  21. As far as I'm concerned, GM is on trial because the weak ignition switch caused a situation in which the airbags fail to deploy to prevent injury. It bothers me endlessly to hear people (and the media) quoting the story like the Cobalt's were killing people simply by turning off. If you're going fast enough to have a devastating crash, the steering will barely feel different without power assist, and the brakes retain power boost for at least one full press. Yes, it's a significant problem. You slide off the road (whether it's ice or avoiding an accident or anything) into a tree, or hit an obstacle that causes you to lose control, and the jarring event shuts off the car and therefore the airbags, not a defect to be taken lightly. However, how much different would the narrative be if it was reported as "Ignition switch fails to deploy airbags in 110 fatal accidents" versus "Ignition switch causes 110 fatalities." IMO the second line doesn't even make any damn sense, it's like click bait. An ignition switch can't cause death.
  22. There are physical volume buttons on the steering wheel, and at least now you can find the swipe bar without looking.
  23. The CT6 had a pretty significant change to the CUE layout. I like the new physical controls.
  24. I think the stage two actually made 295 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque and retained the factory warranty. Would have loved to see what those ran at the track! Never saw a performance test of that package either.
  25. the sleeper effect can be fun Sure would be, if the Malibu had a limited slip or transmission that could handle anywhere near the power necessary. There's a perfectly good tune for the turbo that makes 300 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque, but this guy's making the insane leap to "125 whp" from bolt-ons because racecar and DI-turbo like Cobalt SS. It's super cheap and easy!! Until you grenade the transmission, burn up the turbo, or blow the engine. Ya might just drive into oncoming traffic because there's nothing keeping the front wheels working together. true. I planned to get m GTP in he 12s, but hen bad things started happening to it (the transmission grenaded with 13.9 1/4 mile HP lol. Of all people, I absolutely get the sleeper appeal. I'm still looking to get a bit more power myself, but it's all within factory limits and retains driveability. At least the GTP actually offered the aftermarket hardware to make the car go faster properly, and it was marketed as a performance sedan. Everything for a Malibu turbo would have to be custom fabricated.
