  1. Is there an inside joke we're missing?
  2. Well I don't agree with contradictory statements, but I don't like sales trumpeting, but it isn't Mercedes that's doing it. I have rarely seen a Mercedes commercial or any advert referencing large sales volume, but the CLA which I hate did have that super bowl, low price, high cleavage ad. Very good, the cleavage part. But it's not like Mercedes doesn't try to make their cars exclusive. Add up all the incentives, they're still the priciest of the lot, and like most luxury vehicles, depreciate quickly. I would say that Mercedes should raise prices or cut incentives, to fatten transaction prices - something I wholly say Cadillac should do as well, atleast for certain models.
  3. The first mule for the supposed GT500 has been spotted. What I thought was interesting is that the rear wheels were the carbon revolution CF wheels. Wonder if that will help with burnouts, because less rotational inertia means REV city!
  4. Yet for Cadillac to succeed in terms of sales, and Cadillac does want sales, they'd become the Camry of luxury tier as well. In their home market, it is embarrassing for any American make to be outdone by any competitor, especially foreign branded ones.
  5. Wow, the Pacifica seems to be a hit, it almost made up for all the losses if the 200, 300 and Town and Country!
  6. Not too bad, BMW recently redid the 7 Series, and it isn't growing either. All flagship sedans are down. All sedans are down, for the most part. If any sedan is gaining, it's probably because it's fresh and the competitors are now in the middle of their product cycle. It is expected for sales to eventually tail off in the product cycle. The Buick Lacrosse has been on sale for a wile now too. It's also down year to date. Where is the excuse for an all new model?
  7. And are SUV's based off the same platforms as cars; only being jacked up and adding plastic body cladding that is supposed to look macho, but folds in half by being hit by a twig - ARE THOSE NOT CARS?
  8. S-Class is up 26%. I think you might mean the E-Class, that's down, but that has more to do with limited supply and the new model change over now in effect.
  9. Chrysler will still build passenger cars in Canada. That's American enough, right? I mean it's definitely North, more North than the U.S. Wanna know something interesting? Sergio graduated from York University with a bachelor degree, from a program that was the precursor to the now full-fledged faculty that has its own programs, EMBAs, everything, called Schulich School of Business, at York University, about 15 minutes from Markham, Ontario. Another coincidence! You can guess why I know the the latter part of the above statement...and keep it to yourselves.
  10. Even when you guys aren't at it you're still passive-aggressive. I think it is fair to point out specific tidbits of sales figures with one word personal reactions. As long as they're tied just to that specific model or line. How is one model line representative of the performance of an entire company, especially sales units? The performance here are shown in aggregate, the sum of many individual performances. And some of them follow an overall theme, and some just don't. And don't fret over units as much either on an individual model basis, revenue is also measured in dollars and cents, and that matters too.
  11. Well, they'd have to also untie the engine with a specific trim. That was the disaster with the former Cruze diesel, people who just wanted the epic FE, had to pony up for the highest trim. Well, with even VW TDI you had to opt for a model above base, but that's not too bad.
  12. The GT350/R is a track packish special like the former Boss and Z/28. What I do not get is whether the GT500 is being delayed or that Ford wants the highest horsepower car to be the GT. It matters not. I think while there is much bravado and table stakes (because people bet money on this) over which of the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger are the superlative, the new META....I'm just fine as is with more Maliboobs, more Gillette Fusions and, well, more badass retro musclecar Doges.

Something to do with making RNG punishing, therefore promotes longevity for the games? Maybes? I dunno, I'm clueless about this game and I like 10-11 years ago was all about that Visual Boy Advance tactics. Ahh, the gud old days of playing an emulator on Windows ME. Feeling very sentimental nows. God darnitt I feel like a 50 year old with tech nowadays even though I'm less than half of that number in age. DAMMIT!!!
  14. 20% of sales and it improved the horrible mpg by a not so insignificant 20% mpg or more. We'll have hybrid trucks soon. Very soon.
  15. The Escalade is known for a V8 though. Yes, I do believe and EV would be great. But I think it's wise to hold off on that. There's really no rush to make every vehicle have an EV iteration. Better to do it right. Unlike some people, it's not like people will be become buying bots buying the same EV over and over again, just because it was first. That's never how it works - for any market that has yet to even begin maturing. Plus couple that with the impending car sales implosion, which I totally believe will, can and should happen. 84 month car payments for base model cars are just another way of saying 48 months of bad debt on a barely used car.
  16. When you build up a brand, and you have loyalty, there is sometimes no need for "improvements." And the Pentastar by all accounts is fairly smooth, revved higher it is a bit more gruff than say i-VTEC aka Earth Dreams V6 but some might just call it character. Jeep is a printing machine, the best thing they can do is keep it authentic, but also tack on all the new must have options as extra to print even more money.
  17. Many kinds of value. Performance value. Aesthetics value. Space efficiency value. Fuel economy. Safety. And different people put different weights on those values. Don't make this a big 2 middle finger thread guys.
  18. There's plenty of car crashes that have happened where like a witness like a passenger can attest to the driver being fully responsible and doing everything right - like ALL parties involved, and yet someone still ends up unable to eat breakfast because they just can't wake up. And I bet the frequency of those crashes is probably much higher than some renegade autonomous driving aids gone wrong.
  19. Except ya forgot that even true blue Chevy fans also place value on looks and among other things practicalities. Now, both the GT350 and the 1LE will probably ride worse than a standard tune GT/SS, but the point being, performance value is one kind of value. There's many different kinds of values that together make a purchase. I couldn't care anymore. A car that comes out 2 model years later should damn well be better than the competition.

If it get hot, fit, and girl gamer chicks I'm all for it.
  21. The point is that from an accounting perspective, depreciation and subsidies make oil far more compelling than it really is. Yes, the facility out of Reno got plenty of govt welfare, but here's the big equalizer. Everyone will be doing this. If any mainstream make wants to sell 500,000 electric cars per year with more than 200 miles of range, they also need 50 GWH of batteries per year. And this facility is now being setup to eventually be able to triple, as in produce 150 GWH, anually. Now that's years away, awaiting a sustainable business model from Tesla, but this is the right time, perhaps the right place, and if Tesla fails, some else will pickup the pieces - it's an opportunity too good to miss.
  22. So, I am checking in again. MOFO'S I'm at 175. Ain't nothing to it, gangsta rap made me do it. Today I had an epic bike ride, and before/after I did 75 jumping jacks. I have a ton of overhead on those now. I could prolly do 100 jj's at one time, but the ones after like 85 would be kinda slow. Also listen to this: I forcibly force ya'll to help me lose my mind....
  23. I just feel for SHAP man. They put the same amount of money into that facility that Ford did to the dearborn plant. And it's ALL sitting there, idle right now. The best thing they can do is sell all the IP of the 200 and Dart to some company like Mitsubishi or like some Chinese company that wants to sell cars here, and have some royalty clauses so they make some money off of those cars. Like, the 200 would make a GREAT Mitsubishi Lancer or if they even wanted a midsize seller, a GALANT. Seriously, like Mitsu!!! LOOK NO FURTHER.
  24. I'm not sure if everyone has yet seen, but the gigafactory built so far is actually....nifty coincidence a little more than about 12% of the planned construction is complete. By next year this time they expect validation and q&a of the Model 3 batteries to be complete. This is a nifty thing though. The stakeholders are vested, and already the facility can be used to make battery packs. I think a lot more automakers and others who need lithium packs will buy in. There might just be a gigafactory on every continent in the near future. I don't necceasrily still fully buy in to electric vehicles, but I do think that batteries NEED this kind of investment in terms of production and infrastructure to lower cost. I'm NOT deterministic, but it's pretty obvious rationalization of the production of big lithium is one of the few ways to lower unit cost, so this isn't a stupid idea. Think about it. our entire economies are still largely driven by petro, and most of the infrastructure of that system was finished being built by the 50's. The majority of all the refineries in Texas, Alberta, and elsewhere in N/A are OLD AS F***. Maintaining them is all the big petro's do.
  25. The new 9 speed will have like 4 overdrive gears. Overkeer, and will prolly allow for much less rev's at 75 or like 120 kph, right? (I did a wild guess, and then googl'd and found it was 120.71 kph. YEAH!!! I'mma turbonerd & delirious because yes, yes I am!)
