  1. Awesome buy man. But you gotta smoke at least ONE set of tires.
  2. I would have hoped that by now you'd realized that you can't look at one month YoY sales fluctuations. Guy. They're tanking worse than VOLKSWAGEN. Even C/D acknowledged the reality of Mazda's situation in this month's grocery-getter comparo (which it won, incidentally). Like I said: baffling and sad, but true.
  3. Perhaps he will make Amtrack run on time as well. If he could be trusted to just concentrate on the economy and turn off his ego he might be ok. But I have severe doubts on both counts.
  4. I was talking about EPA stuff mostly. Since Trump has also vowed to re-open NAFTA, my selfish interests are a bit cautious at this point. He is Ronald Reagan minus the experience and cheer.
  5. It's the only recipe that has succeeded. And it has done so by using amazing economies of scale with drivetrains. Porsche doesn't have that. Dodge doesn't have that. Certainly the Italians don't have that. Dead brands don't make dollars.
  6. They're about to make the same mistake Canada made, I suspect.
  7. I agree that they are great ENTHUSIAST cars. And I said that it was sad that they weren't succeeding. But you said that I didn't care. So where is the motivation to be sympathetic when you can read my mind, right?
  8. No. The Camaro is CHOICE for the people. It's icing on the cake. If the Corvette wasn't a moneymaker for GM it wouldn't exist. And as further proof of it's successful performance/price strategy, just look at some of the nameplates it's outlasted, even over the last three generations. 300ZX, RX-7, Stealth/3000GT, Viper (soon), 928, 968... Perhaps it would be better for the competition if they were the ones doing the following.
  9. Why? What kind of beef do you have against (upper, admittedly) middle-class folks owning a world-class sportscar? Power to the people, man.
  10. Having owned both a Zeta Camaro and a C6 Vette, I can (and have) spoken from first-hand experience: they are vastly different cars that are not cross-shopped very much, if at all.
  11. You got a Cadillac of some sort.
  12. Again: they're tanking worse than Dieselgate-era VW. The Fiat contract is needed as badly by them as it is by Sergio, possibly more.
  13. If Mazda was getting the respect you claim it is, then why did it post bigger year-over-year sales losses last month than VW? They do nice vehicles. But nobody really cares. Which, I admit, is a bit sad.
  14. Just a reminder that I was downvoted by someone for pointing out what had already been widely reported: GM is currently doing a lot less fleet sales than the competition. Sorry if feelings were hurt. But that's just the way it is
  15. I respect Mazda for trying to make the Wankel emissions-friendly, and they do a mean turbo application. But they aren't invincible, as we've seen with their diesel program. And that Fiat sounds GOOD. I don't think the engine is a dealbreaker, put it that way.
  16. I guess. But the most I've read about FCA drivelines recently has to do with the nine-speed auto. The 1.4 is an iron block I believe, which makes it bad for weight but great for boost hikes.
  17. You got a Dart!
  18. What's the base price for a Stingray in the US these days... 56 grand? Add in the Z51 stuff and Z07 stuff... ya, it would be close.
  19. 124s go down the same assembly line in Hiroshima as the Miata, so unless you're talking about the engine I don't understand where the beef with reliability comes from in this case.
  20. The widebody alone makes it worth buying (it's why I bought my GS). The fact that you can now get it with carbon ceramics and the Z07 package is even crazier, although the Z07 setup will make it the slowest Corvette in a straight line. Still, you figure that an iron-brake Z07 GS will ring in around, what, maybe 70 grand? And it'll do 1.2g? And it'll be able to put the power to the ground as easy as a Stingray? Lotsa wow there, fer sure
  21. It looks like an old-school 124, more or less. I prefer it's styling to that of the current Miata. What I'm less stoked about is the claimed hp numbers for the Abarth version. Sorry, but you need 200hp, minimum, to differentiate yourself from Mazda, at least as far as I'm concerned.
  22. Point taken on the engine, but the gist of my argument is still valid. I will say that your experience is probably a wake-up call for Ford as far as their attempt to make the EcoBoost appear to be a premium engine.
  23. I'm guessing there are a LOT of V6 Mustangs in that count. It's the main reason why I'm not too concerned about the Camaro "only" moving 6-7,000 units per month.
  24. Seeing as how this car has a roughly 10% advantage in power to weight, more forward gears in manual form, and available carbon ceramic brakes/Z07 aero package, I'm fairly confident in saying it will put the 1LE in its rearview mirror pretty quickly.
