2016 Detroit Auto Show: 2017 Lincoln Continental: Comments
El Kabong replied to William Maley's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)So, anyways... the Contintntal is highly unlikely to help Lincoln. It's not going on sale for a while yet, it's using outmoded chassis and transmission tech, and the Koreans have moved into the segment. Too little, too late.

2016 Detroit Auto Show: 2017 Lincoln Continental: Comments
El Kabong replied to William Maley's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)First of all, if multiple threats against you don't constitute banning, nothing does. Second, do not insult the intelligence of your good posters by trying to insinuate that they had ANYTHING to do with the post I called in yesterday. It was completely unprovoked. I've been laying low because I wanted to see if the problem would get fixed. It's been quiet so far. We shall see.

Callaway Alpha Camaro Is Go!
"For $54,290, which includes the price of the base Camaro SS, the tuner is offering the Callaway Camaro SC600 package... In addition to a supercharger, the package also includes a triple-element intercooler, and the requisite badges, floor mats, and keychains to denote your car as having the Callaway touch. No suspension, chassis, or brake mods are included... if you have your eye on a 2016 Camaro SS and want a little more juice out of it, you know where to look. Plus, the Callaway Camaro SC600 will come with a three year or 36,000 mile limited warranty. "We don't really see a downside to this." Indeed. Veddy nice, if I say so myself. The Callaway dealer in Edmonton will probably move a few of these. More at the link: http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/news/a27833/callaway-2016-camaro-sc600/

Industry News: BMW Takes the Luxury Crown For 2015 in the U.S.
Lost amid all the hype and the hoopla is that GM's combined sales (Cadillac and Buick) total roughly 400,000 units. Which makes GM the car company that leads the way in both luxury vehicles and pickup trucks. Now THAT is what you call versatility.

It was unbelievably bad, and undisciplined. I get that the Steelers had a pretty sketchy hit as well but it was legal.

Department of Bad Personal Decisions: I quit watching the Steelers game after that pick with 90 seconds to go. I just saw the highlights. Gobsmacked, for many reasons.

The Escalade is the one vehicle for which no other automaker (with the possible exception of Land Rover) has no answer. It has been the de facto flagship of the brand for a decade now.

Bottom line: if you have to explain what your trim level entails... it ain't luxury. It's a trim level.

I do like this place :D Anyhoo, good on GM for having two brands on this list. It can't be easy juggling two luxury brands, but they do pull it off.

The list includes a pretty broad spectrum of brands, but unlike, say, trim levels on mainstream brands you can at least see where the companies involved are making an effort to sell vehicles that have a unique aspect to them. If we are to take the luxury brands here at face value then GM appears to be doing quite well for itself, especially considering it is the only company to have two brands on the list. Well done.

Eh, it's all good. I don't mind debates that don't end in epic meltdowns, even if the thought process is a bit silly. Cadillac needed to rebuild their identity from scratch. That meant a combination of German performance and American swagger. The sedans and coupes provide the former, the Escalade provides the latter. The best step is to combine the two in one vehicle.

That's pretty asinine. Bentley sells an SUV, Benz and Lambo both have/are selling quasi-military vehicles. Cadillac is its own company, with its own heritage. The fact that it can now outgun German luxury sedans as well is just an amusing side note from its recent history.
