Report Card: 2016 Detroit Auto Show: Comments
FAPTurbo replied to William Maley's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Buick Avista: Circlejerkery for a car that will never, ever, ever, ever be built. 4/10 Continental: Equally as milquetoast as the breakfast sharing its name. Should be called the 'Lincoln Flyover State' because ain't nobody stopping for that. 4/10 Acadia: GM's cultural appropriation bent endures, by continuing the Acadia name without any reverence for the Acadian culture. GM should make the dash cluster half Francophone as a start. Still not as bad as the free blankets some Pontiac dealers distributed with Aztek tent packages. 4/10 Raptor SuperCrew: SuperCompensation. 4/10 Nissan Titan Warrior: Reliable SuperCompensation. 4/10 Honda Ridgeline: Dudebro's appreciate the clean design inviting customization and the box speakers, ensuring your next outdoor event will be thoroughly ruined. 4/10 Chrysler Pacifica: Stylish suburban spawn-schlepper with copious room for even more spawn. Gives parents the illusion of class while carting around their little bundles of bad decisions. Will become ground zero for missing french fries and feckless, entitled lower-middle income suburban white males. 4/10 Tesla: Not sharing space with the trash above. 10/10

2016 Detroit Auto Show: 2017 Chrysler Pacifica
FAPTurbo replied to William Maley's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Looks to be a nice van! I'm torn on the name though. I didn't think anything was wrong with Town & Country, and Pacifica could've been applied to a crossover. It's a shame that the original Pacifica was a bit ahead of its time. Aside from the reliability woes, it was a very nice vehicle and it's odd that Chrysler hasn't followed up with a successive mid-lux crossover.

Ford Patents System To Make A Unicycle Out Of Their Cars
Stupidly brilliant idea! It's as if Ford's patent department had to spend the remainder of its budget by the 31st, and hosted an internal competition to see who'd come up with the looniest idea.

The 'debate' is an on-again, off-again feature of C&G that similarly plagues the entire 'autosphere' which is filled to the brim with pseudo-engineers who genuinely believe that DOHC and OHV methodologies are in competition, thus reducing each engine's application into a one-upmanship game. But what else can we expect from unscrubbed plebs who don't own Tesla's? Merry Christmas.

THE DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Report on Early Tesla Model S Claims two thirds will need powertrain replacement before 60,000 miles
Or perhaps it's because Tesla makes cars that are cool and desirable, and doesn't hire idiots who publicly call global warming a 'crock of $h!' when launching a vehicle designed to improve GM's green cred. FANBOYS?! ON THE INTERNET?! TELL ME MORE!1!!- Report on Early Tesla Model S Claims two thirds will need powertrain replacement before 60,000 miles

Big automakers like GM can't get simple things like ignition right, so this isn't really a big deal considering it's under warranty.- Review: 2015 Cadillac CTS VSport
Well it's no worse than some recently launched Ford/Lincoln models not being upgrade-able to Sync 3. I don't doubt it. But Cadillac's a few tiers above either brand. CUE was supposed to be a breath of fresh air, better than all the other horrid systems, yet it's become an all-encompassing punchline for horrid systems everywhere.- Tesla Increases Lobbying Efforts To Break Into Michigan

I've never read so much impotent rage from old farts in one C&G thread before. Instead of hating Tesla for its success and visionary, game-changing impact on the entire industry, consider pressuring the likes of Ford to make its poverty Cadillac knockoff less terrible. Or it'll become Pontiac. Because nobody cares about either brand. Especially Pontiac. Because Pontiac's dead.
