Sell Saturn?
I've heard it mentioned as an option in some news articles, and heard it mentioned as a thought on here. So I'm curious... how would GM sell Saturn? -What is included and not included in the sale? -Who would buy? -Why might this be the best option (if you think it is)?

BMW 5-series GT: Don't call this concept an MPV
Anyone else wondering when we'll start seeing the return of 3 row wagons? (Some of the "crossovers" are pushing the line, but I'm not sure I'd call any of them a 3 row wagon yet, even if the idea is nearly the same.)

I would rock a Maxx, shame they don't make them anymore.

Testing the Most Significant Automobile of 21st Century
How exactly does it shift the rest of the world off oil? It's a new level of inexpensive car, which means cars will be "within reach" to more people. It may be very efficient as cars go, but if it's biggest effect is to allow more people to own cars, that increases oil usage, not decreases.

GM Rollsout Centennial Corvette Concept at Chicago
Yeah, the rear mostly looks good, though I'm still not sure I like the exhaust (though it's grown on me some). The side profile is all Corvette and looks great. I think they could've done something better with the grill (the nose shape is fine, but the grill looks very early '90's concept car) and the headlights.

That "private brand"....
Mobil1 full synthetic being changed out at 3500 miles? That's major overkill. I can understand doing it early because of city driving, but to go from their 15k mile oil change claims to 3500 miles?

GM Rollsout Centennial Corvette Concept at Chicago
Looking at more pictures, this car is HOT at some angles, and NOT at others. Overall it's very cool, but it's a mixed bag & just doesn't inspire me at enough angles.

GM plans upgrades to Chevy Volt throughout lifecycle
Kind of like how iTunes doesn't have balance control? I mean, c'mon, it's BALANCE CONTROL! I help some people do some audio stuff, and they use split tracks. iTunes is worthless for split tracks, because they overlooked offering a basic feature that can be found in just about every base level car stereo.

That "private brand"....
If he's not trusting the supertech synthetic oil to last as long as the mobil1, then it should be perfectly fine. I haven't noticed any problems running it in my car, and it should still be better than regular dino oil. The car wash isn't a big deal either, if he's still washing & waxing the car properly & regularly. Expensive soap might help maintain the wax job, but if it doesn't go without a wax job for a really long time, it shouldn't make much of a difference, i wouldn't think. I don't know anything about those tires, though, so I can't comment on that.

Chinese expect to build cars in Mexico in 2010
I'll buy one if it makes it to the clearance isle & ends up like the windshield wipers I just got. $3.50 each, and a $10 mail-in rebate on the pair.

GM Rollsout Centennial Corvette Concept at Chicago
I guess I'll have to be different & say... it's very cool, but I'm not finding it drool-worthy. The grill (which makes me think of the pronto spyder) looks kinda cheap, the fender flares seem just too big, the huge quad exhaust seems silly, and some other proportions just aren't doing it for me. Don't get me wrong, it's still cool, but I could probably find a dozen concepts & production cars of the last 10 years that get me a lot more excited.

Vauxhaull/ Opel Astra Caught Undisguised
Oh boy, undisguised photo! Oh wait, they failed to get the front or rear in the photo. Hard to judge just looking at an incomplete side view, but so far it just looks like the current Astra, but with softened lines.

Officially Official: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO!
An Impala SS loaded is less than $34k MSRP, and LaCrosse super doesn't seem to be much more than that.

Chevrolet Spark Revealed
Looks decent, but it did lose a lot of appeal in the change from 3 to 5 door.

OREGON
From a quick google search, apparently they can fine you $500 for pumping your own. Both laws state that it's for safety, but it's actually to artificially preserve jobs. Maybe this is a great idea - we can prevent people from doing lots of things themselves so that it creates jobs. Like, you can't take your own trash out to the can, you have to have people tromp through your house & dirty up your carpet to take out your trash, akin to the things that those gas station attendants sometimes do to your car - dribble gas all over your paint, etc. After all, it's not like the gas station attendant jobs are being handed to the best & brightest...

OREGON
Remember, this is from one of the two? states that still won't let you pump your own gas. Dur.

Ford Says No to E-REV’s and Explains Why
I find it funny that you start by bemoaning anti-Toyota views, then proceed with your cynicism about GM that goes beyond reason. Do you not get that the Prius is similarly a gimmick as the Volt is, albeit a less expensive one? A current gen prius did not make economic sense when it came out, it made a *little* economic sense when gas prices peaked, and now it's back to not making sense. And that's the THIRD generation of Prius. I bet the first generation (japan only) had people wondering what in the world Toyota was thinking, too.

If I were to build a Computer
Just a note: IMO, it's not worth it to be on the cutting edge of processors unless you intend to stay on the cutting edge of games. If you get a processor that came out 6mo-1yr ago, you can get it for WAY less money, and for anything but the latest & greatest games, it will be far more than adequate. My philosophy is to spend less on each build, and rebuild more often. Dells are ok, and you can come out cheaper if you're starting from scratch, but if you already own the OS, then it's generally cheaper to build your own. You also have more freedom, and you know what you have and can fix it more easily. Plus, you don't get suckered with Vista. (Ok, I have Vista on my laptop, and it's ok, but it's really no better than XP, just more "pretty", and it uses a lot of system resources to be "pretty".)

Bill Gates Unleashes Swarm of Mosquitoes on Crowd
glass full of mosquitoes in probably a HUGE lecture hall is NOT a "swarm". I doubt more than 1-2 people got bit. A quick google reveals that they live 10-20 days, and since these are already alive (not just hatching), then they are already partway through that. Add in large periods of time where there will be no food, a potential for some cold temperatures when the auditorium isn't being used, a lack of water for the most part, etc, and I bet those mosquitoes will be all dead & have little to no chance at reproduction. It's certainly a "shocking" illustration, but when it comes down to it, it's not that big of a deal.

Home state sights to see
Idaho: Craters of the moon: Yellowstone isn't overhyped at all, it's terrific. Shoshone falls: ("Niagra of the West, it's taller than Niagra Falls, though not as wide or as much volume water)

Utterly Amazed: Google Maps
Honestly, which one is better depends on where you live. For my area, both have identical sat. images, both have the same correct and incorrect roads (one incorrect road leads you straight to where a dirt road turns into a sand dune... I was not pleased to pay that tow bill). But in my case, there are no "birds eye view" images, but there are some street view images. Google wins.
-
Utterly Amazed: Google Maps
How much $, how up to date are the satellite images, and how much better quality are the sat images? The free stuff still shows my neighborhood being built, so the images are about 3-4 years old, and some areas have really lousy quality images.
