AUGUST 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD HERE!!!
I thought this was kind of cool. I ran right into the rear bumper with my 10-speed, though (you can see it behind the car):

Yahoo's '50 greatest cars of all time from TV/the movies' list
Ha Ha. The best part is the reactions by incensed readers underneath the article. Oddly enough, I nodded my head in agreement with more of their choices than I disagreed with.

AUGUST 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD HERE!!!
Thanks GMTruckGuy! I never knew about the new side emblems for the early '55s. Here's sump'm' else I seen on my walk to work:

AUGUST 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD HERE!!!
Went for a walk at lunch and saw this 1954 or early '55 half-ton pickup. It had a 3-on-the-tree:

There are still quite a few Shadows/Sundances on the roads around here (and they're even running!). I came close to buying a '94 Sundance Duster. Quick little car for the money.

How many "400" V8s has GM built over the years?
I actually DID see a non-SS 1970 Malibu 2-door hardtop with a 400 logo and the LS3 big-block under the hood. There weren't a whole lot of them made, apparently...and many of them got "converted" to faux SS's later. This is another one of those oddballs I wouldn't mind owning.

Ah. Thanks for the history. I really lost track of most new cars starting in the late 1970s. My interest slowly came back in the mid-1980s.

Did the '79 come with the Olds 350? I know some were diesels, but otherwise, was the gas engine an issue? (my folks had a '78 Ninety-Eight with the Olds 350 and it ran like a champ).

Why is the '79 the least desirable? I kinda lost track of Toronados after about 1973. Least desirable year of that generation unfortunately... they'll have to come down in price, they've over valued it by 100%

3500-3900 60-degree V6s
104,000 miles on the '07 Malibu Maxx. Powertrain has been flawless, but front suspension has sucked. I'm thinking about throwing another $2K at the car because I really like it (far more than the current Malibu, which doesn't impress me one bit). My wife likes it as well (probably the most important consideration).

Ha Ha, that COE in the background...we used to call those "cracker boxes". What a great pic!

It's for sale, too. Has 38K original miles. Red leather interior, looks to be in great shape. They want $9K for it, but I'll bet they'd come down. It's a 1979, by the way.

Jerks Engineered Every Part
I heartily approve of the XJ project. Mrs. Neon and I came up behind one at a traffic signal yesterday. Unbidden, she asked, "whatever happened to those?". Whatever, indeed...

Sacrilege
Same here. There isn't much out there that appeals to me, no matter what the brand. Although I saw a new Kia Rio earlier today and thought, "hmmm....".

Money doesn't buy you taste
Once the Bieb is done with it, bet we could auction it off on E-bay for a hellacious price.

MAY 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD**********
Two oldies on my walk to work this a.m.: That Catalina Safari is unbelievably clean. Even the original interior looks great.

MAY 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD**********
I haven't seen one this clean in a long time. The sticker on the back of the car showed that it had come from a dealership in Portland. That would explain the lack of rust. I'd love to have this car.

Your Ideal Vehicle
You'd think I'd be all over the 300C--comfy, powerful and RWD (or is it now only AWD?)...but something about it leaves me cold. The current edition looks far better than the original, but it's still kind of awkward-looking to me. Just can't get the proportions to work out right in my ancient perceptual system.
