  1. Yikes. A bit TOO pale or is it the photography? They remind me of Gwynneth Paltrow (sp?) and Kate Winslet? How about a good dose of melanin -- like Rachel Ward?

  4. NOS, did you just take the SAT? :AH-HA_wink:

  8. You're rude!
  9. Not me. I didn't want it to malfunction nor have it taken away. I was pretty conservative when I first started driving. I still am, but am a lot more relaxed.
  10. Try checking out a cemetery in a foreign country (like Italy or Argentina). There is NO lawn space as everyone vies for a mausoleum. It's kind of a status symbol, a cult following if you will - kind of like taking cemetery tours in New Orleans.

  12. I swear ... I actually saw those planted on a Caprice on a humid Texas summer day. I was driving between Houston and Austin to check out UT-Austin for grad school and there it was....on a Caprice. The couple in the car looked straight out of American Gothic....identical.Their license plate frame said: MY DAUGHTER AND MY MONEY GO TO.... T E X A S Whoever wants to get on my case for stereotyping, be my guest.
  13. Overall, ours does look better. It's more cohesive. But, see what I have been saying all along about a grille that needs to be canted back.
  14. got milk?

  16. You know I am with you on this. Foregoing the dependability and mileage of such a powerplant for the chi-chi HF factor, 10 more hp you will hardly ever use and slightly less gas mileage makes no sense to me.
  17. Good point. I've had one stolen.I just like looking through them (sort of) at the center of the windsplit on the kinds of cars I've owned.

  20. I've looked though a hood ornament for most of the time I've been driving. I think my Regal coupe was the last model to have a hood ornament. It seems to go with the overall car. Now they are gone. Even on most Caddies. Do you think they should have bitten the dust? Should they partially come back? What do you think?
  21. Good character actor. But, admittedly, he was the consummate geek.
  22. I am NOT in love with the hood ornament. I think that the grille medallion and the hood ornament in such close proximity fight each other. Pick one or the other. There are a lot of things on this Chinese car that do NOT go together. I don't like the greenhouse shape. It is small Lincoln Town Car like. That's why I asked what the platform was. I think that the current LaCrosse/Allure has a nicer greenhouse. Aside from a nice touch here and there, I think the execution is clumsy, for lack of a better word.
  23. First reaction: It looks like a Mercury more than a Buick. What's with the dash? Is it a Cadillac CTS borrowing? I can't tell what platform this car is on, let alone if it is a W-body. I do like the wood applique and general proportions of the console better than those of our LaCrosse/Allure.
  24. You're not missing much, IMHO.
  25. I thought my first car was cool, albeit a hand me down. It was an immaculate 1976 Olds Cutlass Supreme coupe - light metallic blue, white landau, blue cloth interior, color keyed rally wheels and, powering it all, the unmistakable velvety purr of Oldsmobile's version of the ubiqutous 350 V8. As far as I know, it lived at least through the summer of 1992, when I finished a grad program at Univ. of Ill. and I sold it to a guy who farmed outside of Champaign, IL. Who would have ever thought that a car that knew every inch of pavement on "the 405," LA's famous San Diego Freeway, would end up in bucolic retirement near "Cham-bana."
