  1. Heh....7 hrs or sleep for me is rare, except for the weekends. Course, it doesn't help when the stress of work makes me so exhausted I don't do much of anything at night during the week ... and instead "lounge around", only to get the "second wind" and then not get much sleep at night . 2. He he he ... it is a SMALL world. Since I originally posted this, I found out that a guy from the El Camino list was at the first race at Meadowdale Intl Raceway on Aug 15, 1958 ... and still has the souvenir program. AND....one of my heart friends actually RACED a VW there in 1968!
  3. Got your PM ... and replied . Thanks, Robert! And, dave, I'm thinking of the same thing (moving out of state).....

  5. I don't think we ever could..... What a difference 5 years makes, eh? Heh ... my goodness ... can hardly believe it HAS been 5 years. But, it has. And, our world did change that day. I remember where I was ... and how that day unfolded. Yet, in some ways, a bit more interesting to me is how other events fall into that time sequence, including all that has happened in the 5 years since. Several examples have been running through my mind all day long, but one that stands out in my mind, particular since Grandparents Day was Sunday, 09/10/2006, is: Six days before 09/11/2001, we had moved my grandparents from their Elgin home in which they had lived since early summer 1983 to an assisted living facility 1.25 hours west in Mt Morris IL. Now, 5 years later, they are both gone ... and in between their deaths (Gram in October 2002, Gramps in December 2005), I had my 3rd open heart surgery (January 2003). Time is elusive and surprising ... and loves to play mind tricks on us. 8. In the summer, I always wash/wash/clean the interior of my cars. The only time others wash my cars are at the MC Nationals ... when people generally are helpful.... I also clean out my parents' Cavalier and (if time permits) my sister's S-10 as well as our neighbor's Lumina. In the winter, my daily driver (currently my '87 MC LS, tho I'm searching for something else) does see the inside of a car wash ... touchless only. *chuckles* It IS a small world. My best friend's family used to live in Berea many years ago (mid to late 1970s or so, iirc). Also, the Judds (Naomi, Wynonna & Ashley) used to live in that general area. 10. Hmmm.... While I don't particularly care for the results, whoever did the work deserves _some_ credit. After all, that, I suspect, represents quite a few hours of hard work ... something I've not done much of on any of my MCs..... 13. Good ... glad to know she is doing well, even after that ordeal. But, you're right ... too often, we take life for granted ... and only find out "too late" how fragile it is. 14. Heh ... you're not the only one. I've only attended a couple car-related events this year ... neither of 'em in my home state. 21. When I was younger, I was an introvert. I had very few friends ... and didn't feel well liked, if even liked at all. Within the last few years, however, that has changed ... dramatically. I am now an extrovert. Yet, my current job (call center rep for an annuity contact center) is changing me back to an introvert. Most of the callers are unhappy about one thing or another (understandably, of course) ... and that grates on my nerves so much so that I have yet to go to a local cruise night this year. It doesn't help that I'm "tied to the desk" 24/7 while I'm at work. I get home and don't want to do anything; haven't even had the older 4 MCs out much this year. I cringe if my phone rings, no matter who it is. Over the weekends, it is a bit better, but I'm so drained (physically and emotionally) from the week that barely anything gets done. Yes, I am searching for a new job ... but even that search drains more energy (not to mention time) ... and its starting to really get to me. Heh ... I'm in my 30s and just don't seem to have found my niche yet ... something that "society" seems to "frown" upon.... Even more, sometimes, I don't feel I belong anywhere. A friend was telling me about his 22-year-old cousin who recently settled down and started a family; I'm almost 11 years older than him ... and haven't even had the opportunity (if you know what I mean) to have kids. Hmmm...that October road trip out west is looking very very very good right about now. Then again, I'd need to reverse the current trend of going back to being an introvert . Sooo...how about you? Has your career path changed you? Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ "Beginning to think that I'm wasting time" ...
