Push-button Slushbox
'57 DeSoto: one of my top 5 favorite mainstream designs of all time. Bonus- I love the way 'Dee-SO-TOE' rolls off the tongue. My buddy had a copper over pale red Firedome hardtop with the 341 Hemi. Sweet machine.

Do you like your co-workers?
Currently I only have 1 co-worker. For the most part he's good people (and the fact that he's my brother has nothing to do with that assessment), but lately he has been getting on my nerves in a big way. Time to move on.

A 1957 Plymouth Belvedere buried in Tulsa
It's in a concrete vault, but how or how well that was sealed, I don't know. I can easily see this baby, even if surface-rusted & dry-rotted all over, going on eBay for huge coin. It's the only brand new '57 Plymouth left!

Best Production Exhaust Note.....?
The Tucker sounds awesome- 6 cylinders pumping thru 6 outlets... tho unfortunately I've only heard it on film and not in reality. I'm with Flybrian on the worst: nissan G35.

Very early GM trivia
History points to the first "Buick" engine as being built in 1900, under the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company, a precurser to Buick Motor Company. I should have worded the question differently with regards to Cadillac. Cadillac founder H.M. Leland was building gas marine engines & steam trolley engines by the year 1896, tho these were not under the name "Cadillac" but Leland & Faulconer. Those were what I was thinking of and thusly you can see the flaw in my wording. Engines manufacturered under the "Cadillac" name were built beginning in 1902- the first year of the Company.

G80 Limited Slip Rear Differential
LSD also was instrumental in limited-one-wheel traction, tho perhaps traction control addresses that now. Interesting: G80 has been the GM code for LSD since at least 1965.

Concept - Chrysler Imperial
No likey: like Sixty8 said: too tall, too stubby. Very little grace. I give the exterior (based on these pics) a 2 on a 1-10 scale. But there are definate Imperial cues: that's the '62 grille up front. Rolls' designs are built starting around their archaic grille... and this one looks nothing like the rolls. Suicide doors are a keeper, but start from Square 1 on the rest. Get the damned thing longer and lower: in the dark it'd be confused with a cube van! I'd also like to see a modern version of the Southhampton stainless roof- that'd be A-1 unique!!

Caddy should do what MB is doing...
I for one wasn't offended in the least. But you have to understand how your post read. >>"...Seville (on the Nova platform)"<< is completely different than saying >>"based (however loosely)"<<. It's like identifying a fine art painting as a 'blank stretched canvas' instead of recognizing what the final product is. The Seville's engineering start is hardly the point relative to the production car, right? Aren't we talking about the production car in this case? Most people (not neccesarily you however) only focus on the 'blank canvas' of the Seville's frame's origin because they have a dismissive attitude and a tendancy (often inadvertantly due to quoting popular opinion) to belittle General Motors' product. This is a way to do so while still being technically 'correct', but it's still misleading and in a way; disrespectful. One is free and clear to disrespect all one wants, but if in doing so bases such on inaccuracies, those comments are likely to be called into question. Nothing personal, enzl. BTW- the Seville wikipedia entry is one I also had to correct, but 'regulars' there who apparently have some sort of imaginary reps as 'all-knowing' changed it back, I believe. Obviously, I need to go & stick a sharp stick in there again...

1956 Motorama Cadillac Eldorado Brougham town car
The whole town car/sedanca deville appearance doesn't work especially well for me either; too unbalanced IMO. Still, I would love to even brush up against a few concepts cars 'in the steel' (actually, I have). Between the 2 above, I actually prefer the Parisienne. The EB TC loses the spectacular brushed stainless roof- bad! My favorite is the prototype '55 EB- gorgeous all around. The rear view may be the most beautiful ever IMHO. Ocn- the A-body itself was not the problem, it was decreasing performance. The SD455 should've been available in the '73 as initially planned and it would've equaled just about any previous GTO with no problem- in the T/A it turned low 13s in the quarter... XP715- you should check out the thread stickied under the Lounge titled The XP DNA Project- loads of picture links there!

'Last' usage before the last few years was on the limited production '87 GNX. Before that; yes- the '84 Electra.

1949 Coachcraft Cadillac
Before I found C&G, I used to linger on C&D's boards. I once posted excerpts from C&D's '81 review of the Cimarr0n, which was by & far positive... and I gave proper credit for the author and I did NOT editorialize (didn't have to- article said plenty). The thread was quickly yanked within hours & without explaination. I assume a strong 'block' from their Cadillac 'punching bag' would've spoiled their fun. Strangely, I have started to see a few Cimarr0ns on the road this past year, when I hadn't seen any for years & years.

Caddy should do what MB is doing...
I know exactly how Razor feels. It's not so much what is said as how it's said. Pontiac was given a '64 GTO by the original owner within the last about 10 years, and they restored it EXACTLY as it came off the line (leaving certain unpainted parts bare, which meant they began to flash oxidize in short order). This was just 1 car, a keeper for Pontiac's large collection of significant vehicles. Nissan did something like this for a short while: buying, reconditioning & selling 240Zs. I believe the venture was discontinued due to the financial loss the program ran quickly into, not sure. I think the first gen Seville and the '67-70 Eldorado are 2 excellent choices for a limited factory-reconditioning program, but I disagree with retro-fitting everything to modern standards. Now we're talking about a potential $15K value '67 costing $50-60K to upgrade everything. And the interior??? Completely defeats the purpose to change out the interior... I could maybe see the motor & trans, but otherwise keep most everything factory or forget it.

Pontiac Club de Mer model
Cool- snipe it, Fly! Most vintage Pontiac fans are waiting for the real Club deMer to surface- it's been MIA since the '50s but is rumored to have 'escaped'. It's the unofficial Pontiac Holy Grail.

1949 Coachcraft Cadillac
RE: the CoachCraft '49: I'm divided. One one hand, I am always interested in seeing 'another take' on a factory design, and while this one is certainly unique, some degree of Cadillac's inate grace is gone. Cadillac discouraged outside coachbuilders for long decades for this very reason...
