I think this GM Europe will be the ones mostly affected by this. The only way this affects us here on this side of the pond is that the next iteration of Malibu/Cruze/Sonic et. al could be riding on something that Peugeot/Citroen had a hand in designing. I don't see either making a Fiat-esque return to the US. Ultimately this sends a strong message to GME - we've found your potential replacement, so shape up or else....

A very compelling read. It seems people have fallen out of love with the automobile. It's something we need, but no longer something to be desired. When people show off their new cars these days, it's not about how powerful it is or how fun it is to drive or customize, it's all about what you can do with the car, like heat/cool your hands on the steering wheel or hook up your phone to the sound system. I agree strongly on the idea of a minimalist car. If GM needs a template to follow, look no further than the 1955-57 fullsized Chevrolets. They had attention getting styling for the time. They were dirt cheap, but could be optioned up eleventybillion differernt ways. They were infinitely customizable. Heck, while I'm on the Bel Air kick, what about something along the lines of the Bel Air concept from a few years back? Not the exact car, but maybe take that idea and stretch it over the new Colorado frame.

Does the Monte Carlo hood fit on these? The contours look very similar. If so that would greatly increase the number of parts cars that could help this thing. This guy was obviously an F-body fan, that scoop looks straight off a modded IROC. For me, the bottom line is that it's a 70s El Camino that doesnt appear to need any sheetmetal replaced (aside from the hood). If the dash isn't cracked, even better.

needs a strip and a repaint, and some mild rust treatment in the bed, but that's about it. Price does need to come down a bit though.

Coming from one of the few here that like the 500, this is.....unattactive. Stll it's kind of the spiritual successor to old Colt Vista wagon, a no-nonsense people mover. It has a place I'm sure, but not in my garage.

Who thinks walking around a front-hinged rear door to get at the back seat is easier than pulling the release handle on a suicide door? Not me. Who thinks it's easier to load large people and/or cargo into the back with a B pillar there than without one? Not me. Add me to the list of people who don't like this. If you want a forward-hinged rear door, get a crew cab.

So Hyundai finally caught up to a 1975 Schwinn Varsity. Good for them. Seriously, as in the biking world, having more gears in a transmission is reaching the point of diminishing returns. They're now pumping out 11 speed rear cassettes on new bikes, where the difference between each gear is exactly one tooth. Honestty, if you need that sort of granularity, it's not the transmission that's the problem.

I'm guessing some Terrain/Granite cues might find their way onto the Acadia. While it's disappointing that it won't be all-new, the Acadia has aged very well and it's still my favorite Lambda. I've been casually trying to put my sister into one to replace her Avalanche - it's killing her in gas.

Dumb, dumb move. Dodge needs a volume-friendly midsizer and the Avenger could be just that. I think they're better off making a better Avenger and replacing the 200 with what it should be - a baby 300 that's a natural ATS/3 series/C class competitor.
