Your Mom is car spotting!
Saw two late model Thunderbirds today. I don't see these very often. And a big black '66 or so Lincoln Continental convertible.

Your favorite beater?
Perhaps, but the Tempo was one of the worst cars ever made, domestic or foreign. My Prelude works out to be a pretty good beater. Fun to drive, good gas mileage, and I don't have to worry about it when I park it. If it gets stolen again, then so be it. A more practical beater would be something with a hatchback, like an Integra, then you could throw lots of crap back there.

Disappointing car colors - your take on this
I hate Toyota's light blue: Another bad color:

Autoshow in Motion?
ASIM does a good job showing new, good vehicles like the CTS and GTO when they are introduced, but it also demonstrates how underwhelming GM's family sedans are compared to the competition. The longest lines always seem to be for BMWs and Lexuses. Maybe GM just needs to retool and refocus ASIM, but not completely do away with it. In particular, it would be a good way to make people take a look at Saturn again as the new models are introduced.

Happy CINCO de MAYO !!! Ole'.
Acapulco has a buffet, which is nice if you're in a rush and don't want to wait for the food, though the cooked to order stuff is better. For fast food-type Mexican food, Rubio's is decent, as is Baja Fresh.

I hope the light-duty trucks have a sleeker front end with less of a Ford SuperDuty look.

Autoshow in Motion?
I'm disappointed that the ASIM thing is on ice. The cost to run the thing is probably minimal compared to the entire GM marketing budget. I would like to know GM's view on the effectiveness of the program, though if they're suspending it, maybe it hasn't generated the intended results. Has anybody been to the Vegas thing? It has a half mile track, but how much actual seat time is there? And what kind of speeds are allowed? I'd like to know if it's worth making the trip out there to check it out.

Duramax mileage??
My next-door neighbor has a '04 Silverado 2500HD with the DuraMax that he uses for towing. I don't recall what fuel economy he gets, but he put a new chip in it, and it gets better mileage and performance.

Weird Car Tastes
Some of the finest vehicles ever made: Citroen 2CV, already mentioned by 68: Cadillac Seville Opera Coupe. It's been a while since this beauty has graced the pages of C&G: Corbin Sparrow. While Corbin Motors is dead, the car is still available from Myers Motors as the MM NmG.

a significant American Architectural landmark
Here's a Brady Bunch-related anecdote: 20 years ago I was working at a food place on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in the L.A. South Bay, and Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady) comes in and orders a Diet Pepsi, which I served her. She supposedly lived in Rolling Hills behind-the-gates.

Happy CINCO de MAYO !!! Ole'.
Pretty similar to El Torito. These used to be separate chains, but now they're under the same ownership. You can get a decent lunch for $10. I prefer Chevy's over both of these.

Good trucks, and a handful of good niche cars. A lot of times when a company is on the brink, it has to reinvent itself. GM may not get many more chances.

Happy CINCO de MAYO !!! Ole'.
It's a tradition at work to go to a Mexican restaurant. This year we did Acapulco, which is a California chain.

San Fernando Valley. The original house has that great circa late 60's look.
