GM @ SEMA: Cadillac CTS Sport Concept
That thing is hot! Looks tough and menacing and all-American, baby.

Malibu will 'take over' the digital world on Oct. 17th
When is Chevy going to ditch that idiotic American Revolution crap? I see it on the bottom of the new ad and it makes me want to wretch! They should also bring back the Like a Rock campaign for the Silverado.

The rear end should not have those asymetrical lights on the trunk. The Steering Wheel cheapens the look of the interior-they should use the one in the Vue. They should completely ditch the all grey interior. I can't even believe they would have one. The rear should have a center armrest. Bluetooth is not even an option-it should be standard. The front end leaves no clear spot for a license plate. I'm always surprised at the decisions GM makes. They never seem to go all out. Even the Caddy CTS doesnt have bluetooth standard and has the parking brake on the floor-as does the Malibu, add it to my list.

Buick and Lexus are tied for reliability
>Midsize Car Highest Ranked: Buick Century Buick Regal< Smart move changing names, GM. Now you have no cars that match up. Wagoner is an idiot. Notice the park Avenue is there also.

Get the Creative Juices Flowing
Bring back Caddy's Breakthrough ads, but use The Doors' Break on Through To The Other Side instead of zeppelin and focus on this being Cadillac's next phase. Bring back the 'Like a Rock' ads for the Silverado. Bring back 'See The USA in Your Chevrolet'. Bring back 'We build Excitement-Pontiac'. Saturn-more aggressive comparison ads, but I think they blew it with their new Logo. I thought they were going to change from red to that cool blue color they use on their Steering Wheels now-that would have been much much better than Red. Buick-not sure what would help here besides better product.

New Saturn Ad Tagline
I like the new tag line, but personally I think Saturn should drop their logo altogether and just use Opel's lightning bolt. It looks much cooler and Saturn is basically Opel anyway.

2008 VUE base pricing announced - $21,395
Saturn doesnt get the GM Card Rebates and that is a big mistake. I could see the Vue taking off from the start if we could use the rebate but perhaps GM doesnt want Chevy to lose sales and figures non GM people would be more likely to buy a Saturn. What I would like to see is the Equinox replaced with the Captiva, or a improved Equinox taking over for the Trailblazer and a Captiva added to take the place of the 'Nox.

2008 Chevy Online Ordering Guide
The SS has better seats than the LT, which is their bread and butter sales models. I would think they could easily put better seats in all the models. Slipping sales say I may have a point.

2008 Chevy Online Ordering Guide
When they say Instrument Panel Uppers will be Ebony are they referring to the top of the dashboard? I think the Neutral interior had a brownish color top, or are they referring to the center stack which also comes in that hideous silver?

2008 Chevy Online Ordering Guide
All those changes, firming the suspension, adding a rear seat armrest, etc? GM does none of that, they let their products rot, not even doing simple things like adding a telescoping steering wheel, better seats, etc. All they need to do is check consumer complaints about the Cobalt and fix them. Not difficult but they dont do it.

2008 Chevy Online Ordering Guide
Check this out and see how a car company that wants to stay ahead of the pack operates. When I see GM update their cars regularly like Mazda, then Ill be a believer. Right now I see they are not serious at all about being the best: New for 2007 The 2007 Mazda Mazda3 receives minor updates including a more rigid body, body-color front grille, redesigned front bumper with square fog lights, and the 4-door s sedan now has LEDs for rear combination lights and redesigned 16- and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels. The interior is fitted with newly added rear armrests with integrated cupholders for rear-seat occupants, 4-door i sedan features interior color packages with newly designed white gauges and zebra-striped wood-finish dash trim, 4-door sedan’s rear cargo space side and end trim have been modified to allow large and a trunk lid recess on top of the bumper has been added, and gray cloth interior is available on select exterior colors. Audio systems have been upgraded with an auxiliary audio input and 12-volt power outlets are now standard.

The yaris is the top seller now. Big surprise. The Aveo gets poor gas mileage and the interior smells like a chemical factory.

2008 Chevy Online Ordering Guide
Those 2 things dont change how the car feels or make it more comfortable. The least GM could have done was improve the interior. They should have made changes to keep it competitive. The VW Rabbit, Mazda 3, Honda Civic all have the Cobalt beat. Thats unacceptable.

So the Cobalt basically gets nothing? Not a telescoping Steering Wheel, not new more comfortable seats, suspension improvements, brake improvements? Nothing. Gee, I wonder why GM is now in second place? Time for a new CEO. Wagoner sucks.

Notes from the Board
This is what I would have told Saturn: 1. Fix the front end of the Aura-STAT. Open up the foglamps and use honeycomb instead of horizontal lines on the grill. 2. rear seat armrest. 3. Ditch the Cirrus wheels for 5 spokes. 4. Saturns website is the worst i have ever seen. It needs a complete overhaul with more pics and less flash. 5. Ditch Saturns ad agency. The ads currently are awful. 6. 4 Door Astra. And build them here-hopefully they will need more than 30,000 of them. 7. Subcompact. Saturn needs a car to counter the Yaris, Fit, Versa, Accent. Bring over the Corsa. 8. Accept GM card rebates. Whatever reason they gave not to are wrong. No GM Card rebate, I'm not buying a Saturn.

The Near-Future of Saturn
I hope you told the Saturn people to fix the droopy eyelid foglamps on the Aura. Absolutely kills the front end of the car. I also wish they would ditch the horizontal bars for honeycomb pattern. It would sporty up the looks of the cars. Whats with the diagonal cut by the front bumper of the Astra? looks like an afterthough instead of trying to make it blend in as with the Mazda 3. They did the same thing with the Cobalt-odd cuts by the bumpers.

So which auto partner would be best for GM?
I would say Honda makes the most sense. Honda can supply small car know-how-suspensions, engines, etc. (Just please let them keep the Civic interior to themselves-it looks like it was designed by a cross-eyed mandrill). GM could supply them with big trucks, transmissions, RWD platforms, things that GM does well.
