  2. That Acadia does look sharp...a close second behind the ENCLAVE. IMO, the Outlook is a distant third. After looking at the Enclave for so long with those massive 21" wheels....anything any smaller is going to take some getting used to. From that picture, the Acadia did look a little smaller than I imagined. I think it was just the angle the picture was taken or something, because the video I've seen on the Enclave with Bob Lutz and others, I thought exactly the opposite. It seemed larger when there was someone standing next to it...than it did in the pictures.
  3. I can't figure out the Saturn thing either.....and very nicely put about the bottomline. That's the way I see it.... Dude, you just hit the nail on the head with this one. This is EXACTLY right!!!
  4. This is TRUE. I don't understand how healthcare costs factor in to whether a certain car was making money or not. Either the model is being sold for a profit or it's not. I would think that costs like healthcare would be spread out over the entire lineup.
  5. Tiger is the best there is.....at least for the forseeable future. He's a good front man for Buick, but he's got nothing to do with the Lucerene's success. Lucerne has done that on it's own. Just think of how successful the Lucerne would be if it had a 6 speed. That's really all it's missing to be truly competitive. Well, that and the 3.6.
  6. Some people look for the dumbest things to gripe about. OnStar is GM's baby. Finding another way to make use of it is hardly GM being on the cheap. It's just getting more out of an already useful option. Years ago, I didn't understand OnStar, but since then I've seen the merits of it and it's really good in a variety of ways. I agree, Nav screens look good and are popular...and GM should offer them (and does). I don't have Nav right now, but the reason I will have it for my wife's upcoming Enclave is more about it looking good rather than me "needing" an electronic mapsco. The 1987 Buick Riviera I bought new had a similar size touch screen that controled everything in the car from the radio, a/c, trip computer, etc... It looked really good, much like the Nav screens of today. For me, that screen was more "useful" than a Navigation system is (and it didn't cost 2k). There's no arguement that the price is HIGH....but the people that are moaning and groaning about GM being cheap because of this are the same peckerwoods that jab at GM every chance they get.....like the 100,000 mile warranty not covering enough stuff....forget the fact that it's 3 times better than it was.....you're just not satisfied. Yeah, that's reasonable....

Oldsmoboi has the right idea. If toyota gives you a shot, take it. GM might be more interested in you 'after' you're 'in' at the japanese giant.
  8. This is great news. E85 goes into every tank of my wife's Suburban. Right now it's $1.99/gallon. There are a few stations around the Dallas metroplex that carry it. Fortunately there is one right down the street from us. MPG drops with E85, but lower prices even things out a bit.....and it's cool to purchase a fuel that uses the tagline: "Fuel from the Midwest....not the Mideast....E85..the AMERICAN Fuel"
  9. Listen to the streaming video clips from the link. Rick is an impressive guy. No wonder he's at the tippy top of the world's largest and greatest automobile company.
  10. My sentiments exactly. Hard to believe the car mags dogged the lack of trunk space instead of heralding the unbelieveable sports car attributes that have been superbly engineered into this beautiful car...

We will be trading my wife's Suburban in on the Enclave.....and our nest is still FULL! I don't see a real big vehicle in the pictures, but the dimensions tell a different story. If the kids don't have enough room in the Enclave....then they can walk...
  12. EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. GMman replied to buickguy's topic in Buick
NOPE! It's all about the BUICK!!! I can't wait to see one in black...
  14. The only thing I agreed with on that comparison was the comments on the Lincoln's instrument panel. Talk about WTF?... It was just weird. I swear, if you put a mercedes badge on that Escalade, it would of won. The little infinity ranking.....they lose credibility everytime they do that sort of thing. Pretty soon they'll be right along side of consumer reports...

  16. I think they've got to stop the bleeding before they can begin to heal. The picture begins to be pretty when you look at where they were heading compared to where they're heading now. The plan they implemented is working and they've turned the corner. Things should only get better in the future with all the vehicles thay have planned. By contrast, Ford is hurting and their plan isn't working so good.

  18. razoredge: I'm in total agreement with you. Satty: Dorky is driving a camry. That skit from SNL was one of the all time funniest, no doubt. My wife and I have done that in the car before. Now, about this profit thing.....can't a car company (GM) still make a profit by selling cars (even at wholesale to fleets) off of the W simply because of it's age?? Does that question make sense? I thought that was why Ford kept the Crown Vic around.....for Police agencies and cab companies..and/or company cars/rental. They have to be making a pretty good profit off of them or they would quit. And I thought that was because the platform paid for itself years ago.
  19. Dude, I can't read your posts without laughing because of the SNL head bobers.
  20. Ok it's been around a LONG time....So doesn't that mean that it's easier for GM to make a profit on those cars based on the W?

  22. Thanks for the info...the european things makes sense to me now..

  24. Those number, even with fleet sales taken out, still handily brush the toyotason avalon aside. Nice work Buick. Just think what the next generation RWD Lucerne is going to do to that competition.... Now for the japanese loving spanks to come up with some reason the numbers aren't valid or something.....
  25. My understanding is that when a company continues to sell a vehicle based on a platform that has been around awhile, they're able to sell the vehicles cheaper and still make profit based on the fact that the platform (tooling, etc) is bought and paid for. Example: Ford Crown Vic that is as old as dirt, and the biggest market for it is fleet sales..?? But Ford keeps it around.. If that is true, and I'm sure if it's not someone will quickly correct me, then what's the worst part of GM fleeting these vehicles out to rental car companies? I know the W hasn't been around as long as the Crown Vic, but it's been around quite a while, right?
