Useless? I will go along with smaller than the RAV4, you can still get more than a stroller and a large duffel bag in there. The Equinox and Torrent also have a redesigned cargo area too for this year. That redesign could have hurt the usefulness of the cargo area too. They lose big by not having the spare tire on the outside of the vehicle like the RAV4, but the liftgate on the RAV4 and the Equinox are totally different.

I don't think the Equinox will be killed and made useless by the new RAV4, but it will make people look twice. Beyond the interior and exterior, which are both different in the eyes of who looks at them, people will look at the hp and the mileage. That is what Joe Blow and Jane Blow looks at when it comes to the motor. I for one don't really care about running low 15s in the quarter in an SUV like the RAV4. What I do care about is the gas mileage and seemingly never ending power that you would be from that powertrain. Is the 3.4 in the Equinox and Torrent going to recieve an upgrade next year? Maybe VVT? Is the 3.4 going to be dropped in favor of the 3.5 (pushrod not Honda's) with VVT? More gas mileage is more important than more hp right now. Is the 3.9 SS/GT really happening even after all the cuts GM has just announced?

Is it like a F-22 or F-117 and have the stealth on in these pictures?

You might want to add the 4-Runner under the Trailblazer size SUV.

Toyota's SUVs are starting to resemble GM mid-sized cars of the late '90s early '00, well maybe no that extreme, but they've got vehicles fighting for the same market share. What is the point of the Highlander now? The Highlander and the RAV4 are seperated by and 1' here and a faction of an 1" there. Toyota really went after the Equinox and Torrent with the RAV4. They put a lot of the same inovations into the RAV4 that are already in the Nox and Torrent such as the second row seats that are 60/40 split with fore and aft movement for legroom adjustment, reclining seatbacks for added comfort. Must have been a good idea for Toyota to take it.

Yes there was. I think they started making them after a couple years of production. It was a more sport oriented package.

My brother has his fair share of B-Bodies in his garage. His Roadmaster wagon would run 15 flat with very few bolt ons; cai, exhaust, and computer programming. He now has a converter and gears, so mid 14s are within reach. His SS on the other hand just got heads and cam a month ago along with all his other bolt-ons. It should go deep in the 13s.

Nothings says that GM can't play the PR game like :Toyota: . If it means more sales do it, but don't get bit in the ass doing it.

I think DiamlerChrysler thinks they did learn from the Intrepid. That's why we have the Charger and the others.

They've got to prove themselves in reliability first before they take away Ford's police sales.

The add on body part are not as tacked on as some of you think they are. They looked well engineered and more importantly FUNCTIONAL!! It needs the extra cooling and the extra downforce. The roof looks to be removeable. Change the color or look at more pictures before calling it a POS.

The rest of the story: New Six-Speed Transmissions Begin Production At Revamped, Historic Willow Run Facility Also, this might need to be moved to the powertrain forum.
  15. The damage has been done when it comes to gas prices. It will take years for people to forget the quick jump in gas prices this summer.

Have you guys ever been to a burnout competition? They use something to chock the front or rear tires to allow max power to the drive wheels, most of the time a concrete parking lot bumper. Are those not burnouts since they use something to hold the car in place? How about drag cars with line-lock to keep the car in place? Not a true burnout? Just to stir the pot....
  17. Derek77 replied to Derek77's post in a topic in The Lounge
That's where the "Kind of disturbing" comes into play.

Who says a front wheel drive car can't do impressive burnouts? That guy is roasting those tires!!! Malibu BURNOUT
  20. Derek77 replied to avant1963's post in a topic in Chevrolet
All mileage numbers are estimates. Even the final numbers from the EPA, which usually don't vary far from what the manufacturer estimates.
  21. Derek77 replied to avant1963's post in a topic in Chevrolet
See, those numbers are disappointing to me. I was hoping with the updated 1.6, it would be able to meet or beat the 31/38 and 32/37 of the Scion xA. I guess the "problem" lies with the transmission. This vehicle is one of the most important vehicles that GM has launched in recent time. This car will set the perception for the rest of Chevrolet and hopefully GM in terms of good fuel economy and good value.
  22. Derek77 replied to Flybrian's post in a topic in Chevrolet
In defense of evok, he was telling us what was going on now with the program. To me, you just looked past what he posted and looked at the more rosier picture from Flybrian. But lets get past that. The problem with the midsize suv market right now, gmt-360, explorers, and the like, they are starting to bleed over in to the large suv market now, offering much of the same as them. With the GMT-900 coming, the only thing that the mid-sizers offer is an expected price savings, but the 900 prices have not been released yet and they are expected to be lower in price. With 3 platforms to be roughly the same size; Theta, Lambda, 360 SWB; you have to ask one question, Why?
  23. Derek77 replied to Flybrian's post in a topic in Chevrolet
That's why letting the market decide what it wants is the best way to handle this. Give the GMT-360s a chance. Give them a face lift, and not the '06 face lift that they recieved. Maybe something with an "upgraded" interior and exterior, just on a budget. Let the people decide what to keep and what to get rid of.
  24. Derek77 replied to Flybrian's post in a topic in Chevrolet
I got the complete opposite from Evok. When can we expect to see legal pics of the next gen GMT-360?
  25. Derek77 replied to Flybrian's post in a topic in Chevrolet
QUIT PLAYING!!!!!!! This thread is worthless without pics, or at least some more info!!!!!!!! This could decide if I'm going to buy something now, or wait until the next gen TB comes out. In the words of Eric Cartman, "I hate you guys."
