It's my understanding that the Buick Lucerne, along with the Pontiac Solstice and Chevrolet Corvette, are specifically not included in the "Red Tag" pricing.
  2. But GM can change that with one vehicle, if they want. One of those new Saturns could easily have been a Buick. ehaase: Do you think if sales of the Lucerne and Enclave were disappointing, GM would drop just Buick? Are they prepping Saab to take Buick's place (similar to how some have said Saturn has taken Oldsmobile's place)? As I said elsewhere on this board, I'm hoping to be very happy with a Buick Enclave.
  3. Here's the kind of press statement that should make a Buick fan's blood boil. It is from a Detroit News article by Brett Clanton, titled "Saab aims to raise its profile: GM unit plans aggressive role in upscale car market." "General Motors Corps upscale Saab brand wants to become a bigger player in the premium car market [ <_< premium was what they used to call Buick ] . . . Saab plans to expand its lineup by at least two more models, double its U.S. sales by decade's end and raise awareness of the brand through advertising [ GM never makes some future prediction like this for Buick ] . . . Although GM is in the throes of a turnaround, Saab officials said the brand will be a priority and that none of its future vehicle programs will be in jeopardy as the automaker sheds costs [ :o so what does that silently imply? that Buick's miniscule 3-vehicle line-up is or will be in jeopardy? ]
  4. Does anyone think that if one of the three brands fail, GM will chuck all three? For instance, if Buick failed, they wouldn't then make a luxurious, big Pontiac, right? Does anyone think GM grouped them together to make it easy to lop off, should they declare bankruptcy?
  5. I have no facts on which to base this, but I hope GM sees something special in the Buick Lucerne to group it, with the Solstice and Corvette, as the exceptions to the sale. I mean, they haven't even given the Lucerne a chance yet.
  6. With all due respect, I think Ted's list is, in places, out of date. The Buick Theta is something like GMT-165 (?), I forget exactly. Ted's list also, recently at least, still listed GMX-022 Buick Kappa as active. EDIT: I now see that Ted updated his site as of Nov. 5, 2005, but it still doesn't list the Buick Theta and still shows a Buick Kappa as an active program. Nonetheless, I very much appreciate that there's anything like this list out there for us to consult. I've asked more than once for a similar list to be posted at C&G (or even for the platform info to be updated), but to no avail. Thank you, Ted.
  7. I'm counting on being very happy with a Buick Enclave (though I wish I could see what they have planned as a Buick Theta before I buy).
  8. Are we playing "can you top this"? I've liked Buicks since I was 6! (Verified by the model kits and frictions I had at that time.)
  9. Where or how did you write Buick?
  10. But isn't that the idea of the Lucerne at present, to ease old "fuddy-duddy" Cadillac owners into Buick, freeing Cadillac to go more aggressive with other models? And if Buick is adding some of these named options in a year or two, isn't that transitioning, too?
  11. Edmunds.com / Inside Line has reviewed the Buick Lucerne, mostly positive. Here is a direct link to "Buick Attacks the Isle of Avalon"
  12. Thanks, and good luck with your possible promotion at work.
  13. Watching "The Apprentice with Martha Stewart" tonight, I caught a Buick commercial that, I think, had the Lucerne subtley [sp.?] included at the start. It was a dark color, with only part of the hood and grille showing; it wasn't named, just happened to be next to whomever was talking. The commercial was basically about Buick's "Total Value Promise," featuring LaCrosse. They did give the website buicktotalvalue.com at the end. GM does like to tease in its ads. AFTERTHOUGHT...Josh: Why don't you call up Buick p.r.. similar to your call to Pontiac, and ask what happened to the $3 billion mentioned in such-and-such an article?
  14. So be it. But then, I presume, all talk of any $3 billion for Buick should end.
  15. stoopsbuick: Yes, but what kind of response does GM give you? Do they -- for example -- not respond, ask you to be patient, or say it isn't possible?

Thank you for trying this, 91z4me. Accurate or not, it's interesting and gives us Buick fans something to whet our appetites. AH-HA, for one, has been very complimentary about this vehicle, but if it is close, does this qualify as "jaw-dropping"?
  17. There is a sideview of what's described as the 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer at popularmechanics.com in their November "Detroit Spy Report." Insiders will have to comment on its accuracy, but I personally think the drawing is quite appealing, with fresh edges and shapes.
  18. Paulie: Where or by whom was Roadmaster confirmed?
  19. I thought that's going "commando," not cowboy.
  20. 1. He looks ok for being 68. 2. I feel bad that he was ashamed as a teenager. 3. I hope that coming out helps him and others.
  21. 'Cause it drove more like a mini-van? 'Cause it was related to the Pontiac Aztek?

Guess I'm so far out of it. When CD/BP wrote "Dale Evans," I thought of Roy Rogers. This was a lot of fun. :P Some of you guys are p-r-e-t-t-y silly. Or maybe pretty and silly.
  23. Perhaps, in simple terms, they're defining it as "classy surroundings," what I hope the vehicle will be.
  24. Thank you for sharing this. For me, it was a humbling read. There's no easy fix, and the implications are complex and scary for our American lifestyle.

I didn't realize she was still alive. But what a change she helped bring about. R.I.P. (I'll never understand people. For instance, before Rosa Parks... separate drinking fountains -- insanity! Where was the church all those years that should have spoke out against discrimination?)
