As we know, Pontiac’s new performance lineup wears the suffix "GXP". Before this, however, the Grand Prix proudly wore "GTP" to indicate its elevated performance capability (whether or not you consider the GP GTP a "performance car" is not important to this discussion). I find myself wondering, why did Pontiac not simply adopt GTP across the lineup? My reasoning is 2-fold: first, GTP was already an established name for Pontiac, recognized by at least some in the field- the GP GTP has a good-sized following and great aftermarket support. Next, "GTP" actually means something- Grand Touring Prototype, meaning a race car built specifically for competition and not sold to the public (or something to that effect). Of course, this meaning does not apply directly to Pontiac’s offerings, by definition. Nonetheless, it is a term that auto and racing enthusiasts can certainly embrace more than the made-up "GXP", which, to the best of my knowledge, means *nothing*. :rolleyes: Imagine the GTP lineup: Grand Prix GTP, G6 GTP, Torrent GTP (I would have preferred "Aztek GTP", but that’s neither here nor there :P ), Montana GTP (uh, maybe not), Vibe GTP, and Solstice GTP (mmmmm...). It would have been a continuing thread in Pontiac’s recent history, dating back to MY1991 when the Grand Prix GTP debuted. Am I alone here? I just think GTP sounds cooler than GXP, and has some Pontiac history behind it. Discuss.

Only a couple guesses for me: 2. Pontiac 4. The Bugatti EB110, celebrating the brand's 110th anniversary. 6. The T-type is faster bec. it's lighter. (?)

This is me, my wife, and our baby daughter Sofia on Halloween last year (Soso was less than a month old!): FWIW I'm dressed as "Larry Potter", Harry Potter's no-good cousin. Sofia is playing a jack-o-lantern. My wife appears as herself.

Agreed- a typically-blown GM detail. How can anyone be expected to strap a front tag onto *that* car, esp. when the tag is supposed to mount like that? It's the same thing w/ my 95 GTP (not that I'm comparing it to a Solstice!)- the grills just do not allow for a front tag to be reasonably affixed. The car has worn a F tag for all of about 90 seconds in its 10 year life- just long enough to take a Polaroid to show the judge on a couple different occasions... ;) On a Solstice, I might just tie the F tag to the pass. side sun visor, so it shows thru the windshield when it's flipped down- hey, as long as it's visible from the front... :P

Looking forward to reading your review! We have had our 01 GT for about 10mos now, and there is little about it that we don't love. I don't think I'd seen pics of yours before, looks good in that red. As others have said, I don't think I know an Aztek owner who isn't thrilled overall w/ it. I have been seeing more on the road lately, I hope the last remaining 05s are being bought by true believers and appreciated for what they are- a great alternative to the minivan and standard 2-box SUVs. -Gus- sig coming soon!
