Sales: January 2012 Sales: Ford Motor Company
Pile enough incentives on a car and you'll sell anything.

Chevrolet News:Some Chevrolet Dealers To GM: No Thanks To More Volts
You're ignoring the EV driving experience. There's no practical economics in a Camaro, either, yet owners love the car regardless. Same story with the Volt: it's fun to drive with a seamless powertrain, zero NVH, and distinctive appearance -- attributes that even wacko climate change-denying nutjobs can appreciate.

Industry News: California Rules 15% Of New Vehicles Sold In 2025 To Have Zero Emissions
Manufacturers are in on this because they want to see returns on the billions they've invested on new technology. For consumers, the greater initial cost will be offset by substantial savings down the road, as well as the millions in public health benefits.

2012 Ford Focus SEL
Sedan or hatch? Managed to take a few pics today...

Debate: Hatchback or Wagon?
well... it'd look like a Golf. Huh?

Debate: Hatchback or Wagon?
Yep, I agree. A wagon/estate has the same length as its sedan/saloon equivalent, whereas a hatchback would have a shorter rear overhang. An A3 sedan without a longer rear overhang would look awfully truncated.

Proof that people are incapable of driving in snow, period
But what about hills? It seems like there was no way for people to stop until they reached level ground.

Proof that people are incapable of driving in snow, period
I've never driven in snow. Is there a vehicle that would have worked in circumstances like these? Would snow tires have made that stretch navigable? What's better -- a light vehicle with a low center of gravity and skinny tires, or a heavy one with big chunky tires?

2012 Ford Focus SEL
I'm loving mine (Oxford White SE Sport manual) so far... apart from the fact that Ford quadrupled incentives (from $500 to $2000) the month after I bought it. There goes my resale value. Will write a review and post pics one of these days!

Chevrolet News:Some Chevrolet Dealers To GM: No Thanks To More Volts
Honestly, unless you own a Volt yourself, you don't have any credibility to explain on behalf of owners why they've purchased Volts, or to characterize its drivers in such a specific and, frankly, ridiculous way. Why don't you perform a pro forma for a Camaro SS? I'd like to see how that purchase pencils out.

2012 Buick Lacrosse with eAssist
Modern diesels are pretty complex these days, arguably more so than most hybrids. You've got variable-geometry turbochargers, high pressure fuel pumps, twin balance shafts, particulate filters, SCR, etc. Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive and Ford's PowerSplit powertrains are among the most reliable out there; lots of taxis with 250K+ miles still going strong. Passat TDI gets 4 MPG more on the highway, but it's also 600 lbs lighter. More NVH, too. Modern, downsized petrol engines with direct injection, turbocharging, and variable valve timing are closing the efficiency gap with diesels.

2013 Buick Encore: Comments
Wow, I surprisingly like this car. It's a personal pseudo-luxury crossover that provides both agility and isolation for urban environments.

Lincoln MKZ Concept: Comments
Nice concept car stuff. Hope it doesn't get too diluted when it makes its way to production.

Dodge News: Meet the 2013 Dodge Dart (UPDATED!)
- Cadillac ATS press photos!
I'm more receptive to the 2.5L base engine now. It allows the ATS to compete against cars like the TSX, which also has a 200-hp four... and it makes sense in the Cadillac family structure, since the current CTS is also a tweener, evolving in size, price, and engineering from being a 3-series competitor to a 5-series competitor. Once the new CTS comes out, I can imagine them dumping the 2.5L entirely and raising the MSRP to par with 3-series.- Cadillac ATS press photos!
I like the rear view the best. It's odd how there's black plastic trim on the rear bumper (to look like a "diffuser" I suppose) but none on the rocker panels. Makes the side kinda fat and even more melted looking. I'm indifferent about the front -- I like how it's less bling than the CTS, but at the same time, it's somewhat generic. Interior looks fine. Will they be selling this internationally? Are RHD models planned?- 2012 Buick Lacrosse with eAssist
Apparently the gear ratios, or rather, final drive ratio, are tuned for fuel economy rather than acceleration. The addition of eAssist allowed GM to keep the RPMs lower than before while still allowing for adequate acceleration. Sounds like the electric assist more than made up for the reduced engine power to the wheels... nice. How often does it downshift on the highway? eAssist is supposed to reduce the need for that as well.- Dodge News: Meet the 2013 Dodge Dart (UPDATED!)
Looks decent. I hope they make a hatch version (with those same tail lights!) because sedans based off hatches tend to look a little awkward. This is no exception.- Lexus Talking Smack again...
Reads like the Enquirer... not that I've read that or anything.- Buick News: Teased again: Buick's upcoming Encore
Yes, but this isn't a Countryman or DS3. The Mokka/Encore is essentially a Corsa SUV. The fact it's a crossover might make it more expensive than a traditional B-segment hatch but certainly no more than a C-segment hatch.- Fiat News: Rumorpile: Is The Next Fiat For The US This Crossover?
Inside Line is not to be believed.- Industry News: China Withdrawing Support For Foreign Investments Next Year
A Geely Emgrand EC7 ain't gonna cut it for the Chinese 1%. It's not democracy, human rights, or freedom of speech that will have the "new" China revolting against their government--no, the rebellion will happen when you take away their iPads, Coach bags, and BMWs.- Buick News: Teased again: Buick's upcoming Encore
LOL. What is Buick anyway?- No Train for the Motor City
Why'd they move the jobs out to the suburbs in the first place??- Finally! 2014 Chevrolet Impala spied
Looks good! The proportions are great for a FWD Impala. Interior seems massively better than the 2013 Malibu's. Nice to see it's getting a new, Mercedes-esque steering wheel. - Cadillac ATS press photos!
