Overcoming Roadblocks to Next Generation Low Emission Vehicles
It's sort of necessary... otherwise we'll have electric cars and a completely deficient charging infrastructure, kind of like our shortsighted and poorly planned - or should I say, unplanned - freeways that were designed only to meet the needs of the present.

GM - Saturn - Penske deal is DEAD!
A "new" 2008 Astra, if discounted enough, would be a great buy. Swap the Saturn badge and grill with some Opel blitz ones.

September Car Spotting Thread
smart forfour - don't know why I saw one, since they've stopped making them, and only recently were smarts sold in the US.

Future Buick Names
Verano flat-out sucks. Too much like another GM car, the DAT Suzuki Verona. And we all know how that did.

New Golf (TDI) pricing announced
Agreed for the 2.5... though you can, with the TDI.

Number plate recognition police cars deployed in SA
But what about private companies that use it on public roads?
-
Number plate recognition police cars deployed in SA
It's not really "private" property unless it's fully paid for, apparently. The repo man and tow truck companies have been using these for years.

Quick Test: 2008 Saturn Astra XE
Thanks for the review! It seems like the Mk6 Buick Astra addresses some of these faults.

Worst interior memories
Worst interior I've been in = 2003 Grand Prix Really begs the question - WTF were they thinking?

GMC Terrain webchats
I like the Terrain more than the Equinox now. There's something architectural and contemporary about it.

Number plate recognition police cars deployed in SA
The repo man has them as well: http://www.caranddriver.com/features/09q2/...t_me._22_page_2 State of the Repo Art: The Jerr-Dan Element Gone in 8 seconds: Behind on your car payments? Well, kiss your assets good-bye.

Twitter Anyone?
I use it to 'follow' blogs and people I want to keep track of - and it's useful and a time saver for that purpose - but I don't 'tweet' myself.

The 'ole G8 & a lot of new touches
Awesome. You've just made me Craigslist some used G8 GTs. There are a few here with ~5-10K miles for $25-27K. They look surprisingly amazing in white. I love the custom nav and the armrest update.

My son's other friend got lucky...
Probably a C300, as they stopped selling the C230s.

Had a loaner 2009 X3 3.0i Xdrive today
They offer different types of seats on the X3. I would choose the "comfort" seats, which are pillowy by BMW standards and offer an articulating backrest for your shoulders.

Now that 200,000+ Americans sold their "clunker" suvs
No, the Escape is the most purchased new vehicle under C4C.

Now that 200,000+ Americans sold their "clunker" suvs
The best-selling C4C vehicle, according to Edmunds, is an SUV with stability control - the Ford Escape.

LaCrosse track tested
Also structural inefficiency... Epsilon II was engineered to accommodate a whole host of global engines that each impose different structural requirements.
-
LaCrosse track tested
I've never driven a large-displacement V6 that felt completely smooth. We have the 3.5 SOHC in the Odyssey, and if you floor it, at ~5,000 rpm you can feel a slight vibration through the steering wheel and pedals.

How do you start your day?
My mom would make me that as a kid. One slice of white bread, toasted until it's... toasty... PB melting on top and a light sprinkle of sugar. Yum.

Really expensive cars you'd like to own
Lamborghini LP560-4 in white. Other supercars are nice, but for some reason, I only lust after that specific Lambo, and only in that color. It's just so utterly cool.

Snobbery: Music
I'm completely ignorant about music and, unfortunately, zone out when people talk about it. When asked what musci I like... I go, um, whatever's on the radio. Cheesy pop and mainstream rock? Help..

Jury summons - HELP
I tried doing something similar, though it was more last-minute. I ended up showing up in the morning at the scheduled date, but then postponing it a week later. I chose the date.

Salad dressing
I used to love gyros until I went to Austria and had a doner kebab (Turkish) there. It's like a gyro, only with crispier panini'd bread and a spicier tangy sauce. Sooo good. There's a place near where I live that has an Americanized version of doner, which is tasty, but it's just not right - it's supposed to be 2 Euro street food. Persian food is good, too... shares a lot with other Med cuisines, though maybe more meat intensive. I love yellow rice.

Salad dressing
I like olive oil + something acidic + pepper and salt and maybe some minced garlic.
