running the engine at high rpms makes sure the oils stays thin and distributed on all the surfaces inside of the block, the pump gets it there but high speeds in the crankshaft, cams, camshaft, pistons, etc trap a thin layer of oil over the moving parts and keep it from gettting allowed to drain or get too thick.... samew principle as making sure you run a car enough, it pretty much keeps the oil thin enough to coat everything evenly hence specific failures of bearings and such
