It's quite possible to get a cobalt for the same price as you can an Aveo after all is said and done. I couldn't even begin to justify a purchase of even this improved Aveo.

I remember all that stuff saying that W was going to go away after 2008, but it doesn't seem feasible to completely drop the LaX without some replacement. + fleets will always buy them and they're cheap as dirt to produce, given the 4 speed/W-body/3800 combo used on most versions.

I just checked the Saturn website, and it appears that the EPA numbers for the XR w/3.6 are 20/28 rather than 18/27 as previously reported. That's a nice little bonus.

I think it's utterly fantastic. The only thing I'd change? A six speed in the base model.

Ouch. Last year's employee pricing may have hurt them in the year over year comparison, but take a look at the Durango. Down 67% and only 3300 sold. That's brutal!

Fantastic idea. I think they need a Grand Prix like sedan (performance oriented though) to add volume to the brand. The only potential pitfall I see is to convert Pontiac into a brand exclusively made of sports cars. They need to maintain those volume cars, albeit with more performance emphasis. I'm optimistic about this!

But it is good enough. At least given current competition from the Mustang. If the Mustang gets a more powerful Duratec 35, that might change.

233hp? Might be ok for the Impala, but I don't see much reason to use this engine rather than the 224hp 3500 in the Aura.

The only think I'm a bit let down by is the hp. I was hoping for more like 265-270.

Just a guess, but I'd say 440 hp wouldn't be tough, as the LS2 is probably easily capable of more than 400hp. The aditional .2 liters would help too. I thought there was something said about such an engine in the 2007 'vette? If this was the case, that would kinda be moving in on Z06 territory.

So I guess nobody knows.... I'd kinda be interested if something like this were going to replace the Tremec gearbox in the Corvette, for instance.

Well the previous gen rear seat is OK, but should have more leg room given the length of the car. It's because most of that monstrous length is eaten up by those long W-Body overhangs we all know and love.

They make 205 hp as opposed to 200 in the Grand Prix, Impala, etc...

Last year on GM's powertrain site there was a reference to a new GM designed six speed manual transmission for rear wheel drive cehicles that would share parts with the existing 6 speed automatic.
