Cadillac Volt (nee Converj)
Writing as one of the older posters, I don't think that the hybrid market cares about FWD or RWD. This isn't about that. This is for the same group that wanted the Lexus version of the Prius (more luxury, slightly better performance without having to give up the green cred). Where this car runs up and kicks sand in the Lexus' face is in the "f@ck you, I'm gorgeous!" styling and the fact that someone like me can drive for weeks and not use any gas at all while having no real trade-off. I might not have the V-8 growl and the internal-organ smushing acceleration of a CTS-V but I have a car that's stylistically the perfect distillation of the Cien and the Sixteen and I'll have to remind myself to take a trip to Santa Barbara to use up the gas before it goes bad? Sign me up!

Edsel and Why It Failed
I think it also hit just at the point were there was a really bad recession and was looked at as too expensive for what it offered.

BILINGUAL ballot...
I live in Cali and I didn't even notice if it was in any other language. I don't care if it is. If you're going to give someone the right to vote, I would prefer that the instructions on what they're voting for are clear to them. I can skip over the Spanish and the stuff that looks likes hierolgyphics Now if you want to argue that you shouldn't have to pay for the cable stations that are in a foreign language, I'm right there with you. As long as I can add in the Shopping Channel, ESPN and all those Trinity Broadcasting stations..

Dirty Tricks - or "Why Drew hates banks"
Typical- wasn't WaMu the one that was charging people to whom you wrote a check $5 to cash them at a WaMu branch?

Do you like cats?
I like cats better but are sadly allergic to them. I like dogs okay, but if you're going to want that much of my attention you'd better be paying half the rent...

The Big C
I'm sorry to read about this, but I think you're doing the right thing. For a pet who can't understand, the treatments can be worse than the cancer.

FREE Costco lunch or dinner
I do the designer version of it- one of the "gourmet" grocery stores near me does that and usually leaves the samples relatively unattended. A free lunch is a free lunch. Sadly there isn't a Costco near enough to me to make it worthwhile. Otherwise, sure I'd graze. They're offering after all...

I Don't Freaking Believe This!
I just love the whole corporate-speak aspect of the whole thing: it isn't a matter of your death-trap truck being about to kill you, your family and possibly the rest of the people on the freeway when your frame rails turn into powder, or the sure and certain knowledge that it will be a PR disaster that would make the Pinto look like a weenie roast, oh no. It's Toyota's commitment to excellence that causes them to buy back your truck and crush it as far away from the prying eyes of the DOT or Nightline as possible. Just cash your check and have some more kool-aid, kids...

Range dropping from 600 miles to 360 miles?
I'd actually wondered about the old gas problem myself. If I had a Volt (and I would love to have one when it comes out) I would almost never use the gas engine, since I rarely commute more than 10-15 miles. I think I'd rather have the smaller tank and fill it more often with fresh gas.

Bloomberg.com: GM May Sell Mini-Cars to U.S. Buyers
Yes, as a matter of fact I am. If you can give me one that's a convertible, even better. Gas is nearly $5 per gallon here. I'm not considering a new car that doesn't get at least 30mpg. I would be thrilled if Chevrolet could get me one that better that in the city
