Don't bother being creative
I agree 100% with the article... Then again, I am one of those social scientists that studies things like this. It sad really; but it's supported by so many other factors in both the business world and how we interact with one another.

Me too... Watched the commercials online. (Which is cool, since I don't give a $h! about watching football)

2011 Super Bowl Ads
The Chrysler ad was amazing! I loved every second of it.... I think Eminem is a genius and I think he's an excellent spokesperson. Such vision; such dedication! The Vader ad was both lame and pointless IMO. It didn't even show a decent shot of the car and just made the kid out to look dumb (like most kids are) Wow, that VeeDub has remote gadgetry?! You don't say! The Beetle ad was pretty damn cool, though. I thought all of the Chevy spots were pretty lame... The teacher spot is probably the best, but it's very cliche and looks low budget. 'Tommy' actually seemed to be a big hit, but I don't really see the point. 'Misunderstanding' seems to be the top rated one and it's probably the best from a humor standpoint. 'Discovery' is cool; but it needed better imagery and it wasn't very good at keeping viewers attention. I knew that 'Status' would be an either love it or hate it thing... Seems that most people hate it (which isn't surprising given how played out Facebook is getting) The Transformer Camaro commercial had potential, but alas, the crappy style killed it. I thought 'Release The Hounds' was cool. 'Epic Ride' was probably the dumbest commercial of the entire game, IMO. Yet it's getting good ratings. I thought the Hyundai kaleidoscope commercial was pretty neat.

Unn Effing Believable...
I will say this; though. IF there is such a law, I can see that law completely backfiring and more people shooting at politicians. I really don't think many americans will take lightly to 'protected images' and communism. Just sayin'...

Unn Effing Believable...
That sounds... Almost communist. Maybe that's the point of shooting the picture, it's substitutes for the person and averts a dangerous situation. (Although I doubt this is the case here)

Unn Effing Believable...
Agreed... It's a matter of common sense and fear mongering. The common sense seems to not exist in our society at this point and the fear mongering has replaced it. Common sense in this situation says; 'this is just what kids do.' (When I was younger, I shot up many Saddam targets with my BB gun; no harm, no foul) Fear mongering in this situation says; 'these boys are emotionally unbalanced and will someday shoot an elected official because as a society, we're scared of everyone now; even ourselves. (9/11 worked very well, it has permanently altered our society in a very negative way) It's sad, really. I suspect it'll get a lot worse too. I also think there is a more simplistic element here... The cops seem to be taking themselves too seriously as well. I mean, really? You're a cop that's paid to catch REAL criminals, yet you're out making a big bull$h! story/charges against kids playing in a field?!?

My trip and thoughts for NAIAS 2011
GM's too busy shuffling managers and talking $h! to actually improve the product.

Next-gen Malibu Still A Year Off For the U.S.
I don't see what the big surprise is here.... Chevrolet IS a Korean brand. Most of their cars are designed there, ALL of their cars are designed to sell to that price range and even in america, apparently they're only competing with the bottom end of the market now. (former Korean slot) I guess Corvette (which is becoming it's own brand, in a way) and Camaro will be the exceptions, unless the F6 is cheapened and beaten with an ugly stick.

F-ing Gov't. !
Yeah, I had to buy one of these obnoxious pieces of $h! a few years ago when we were in a pinch. Probably spilled 2.5 of the 5 gallons on the car and ground trying to pour without a spout and hold the PITA f*****g trigger. Way to go environMENTALists! FAIL

I Have A Dream, Car Spotters!
I don't really think that truck is too far gone to be restored... Still looks pretty solid and trucks are easier than cars sometimes because they're simpler. Maybe I'm just being optimistic. (Imagaine that; FUTURE_OF_GM being optimistic)

2012 Sonic Sedan and Hatch
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)At least the Z-Spec (aside from being absolutely hideous) has the GRILL that the car should have gotten.

2012 Sonic Sedan and Hatch
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)I really want to like this but I can't... The front is so busy that it ruins everything. I really hate the 'under bite' and black plastic in the grille. The headlights looks cheap from some angles (Remind me of the 90's Chevy W/Ts) and the fog lights and surrounds are generic and too big IMO. I really want to LOVE the sedan but something about it reminds me too much of Korea or lower brand Japanese offerings and the nose REALLY looks too busy on it. Not to mention the wheels, in typical Chevrolet fashion, are almost attractive but hideously cheap and 2 dimensional in execution. I'll hold out judgment for better pics, but so far not so good. I do like the interior a lot, though.

NAIAS 2011 - 2012 Volkswagen Passat
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Intrepidation's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)VW's used to be classy... Now they're just bland. It definitely has a cheapened vibe to it. That said; it ill piss off the VW faithful but it'll probably sell really well to disgruntled Camry owners.

So much for
I'm still, for all intents and purposes, snowed in here in NC. You'd think being in the mountainous part of the state we'd have more than 5 snow plows,(especially after the record setting snow we had last year) but I guess not. They cleaned the interstates and plackard highways the day before yesterday. (NOT exit/entrance ramps or the connector roads to get you FROM one TO the other) Then the winds and about 3 more inches of snow came and covered those roads right back up. Yesterday, with the help of the sun, they cleared the afore mentioned again and the main secondary roads. Today we finally had a plow come up our road. But by this point there really is no use because the snow thats left is either 1) half melted slush and refreezes to ice every night or 2) so compacted by traffic that it's slicker than greased $h! and impossible for the plow to scrape up anyway. It's actually MORE dangerous now than it was when the snow began.

Peanut Butter thread
Peter Pan FTW! I was really, REALLY upset about the Peter Pan debacle a few years ago. (and yes, I do remember a thread about it) I really hate Trader Joes peanut butter... Trader Joes is good for a lot, but they don't quite get it on the 'trashy' things like peanut butter.

I Might Need a Psychiatrist...
I always like the Axiom a lot and didn't feel like it got the respect it deserved. As for the mental disorder... I suffer from that as well. I'm a 'collector' of many things, including cars, LOL. Retail therapyz ROXORS...
