Last night as I was sitting alone and pitiful, enjoying my dinner at a local spot, in walks a pair of folks that made me stare a bit: a little, gray haired with glasses skinflint, 5'2" white dude in his late 50's, with a 5'10" black girl in her 30's, with a Supremes hairdo. :blink: Made the rest of the room look boring. Does anyone else enjoy the sport of "people watching"?

What does age have to do with good taste? I was an Oasis fan. I saw them in concert. But they compare to The Beatles in their own minds, nowhere else. Excellent thread, and tmp's response is one of the most perfect I've seen here. This is why I love this place. Side note: Yesterday I was on a test ride with a lady in her X5 3.0i. We were returning it to her after nearly $15k worth of collision repairs. She had been using her daughter's RX300 (which her mother gave her when she got the BMW.) Anyway, she was saying how much better the BMW was over the Lexus in the areas of solidity, ride, steering feel, etc. Then she said "...and the Lexus is really hard on gas. It's an 8 cylinder, and it really eats the gas." I was like :rolleyes: but I kept my mouth shut. I was going to crack her fantasy, but... the customer's always right!

That is a totally awesome sig, Vipes. bowtie, are you ok? Yes, LA, the smaller quarter window was a later development on A body coupes, from what I bemember. I preferred the bigger quarter glass though. The '76-'77 Cutlass 4-4-2 looks good, with the big triangular glass. I like the '73 Chevelle and Laguna though, I think they got uglier as time went on, until the perfectly-sized '78 Malibu. Yesterday there was a pristine early 80's Civic (low roof at that time) wagon in our parking lot, silver/red mouse fur. How they've kept it from disintegrating from rust escapes me, but there ya go.

I think most "custom" taillights look cheesy, but Vipes, it's your car, do what you want. The darker lens of the GT v. the SE is enough for me.

If my heavy 4X4 extended cab Z71 with 265/75 tires can turn a 17.11 in the quarter with me sleeping at the green, I am confident a 2wd regular cab could go deep into the 16s bone stock. I understand there are some intake and exhaust systems available for the truck now. I also think that 5 cylinder bellow at full throttle sounds kinda cool, if different.

This is old hat where I work. We are a BMW dealer and we have techs who are certified in repairing these cars. We had an '04 5 series with the entire front structure completely removed and replaced due to these requirements.
