Sketch Competition #17 - Future Saturn Mystery Car
The initial post said the deadline for this was Tuesday May 15th. The thread link on the main forum says Tuesday May 19th which doesn't exist. Is it Tuesday the 15th or Saturday the 19th?

That doesn't seem to be the case. In the current G6 contest, the most popular vote-getters have only one view. What's the point of working on two views of a concept if 1) the 2 view rule is not enforced by the moderator 2) conceiving and drawing a second view adds work, time, and complexity for the entrants, and 3) the voters don't seem to appreciate or aknowledge the extra effort? Btw, the image isn't loading.

I didn't have time to rework my second entry (work and family issues) so it will have to stand as is. When does the voting start? What's the next competition gonna be? (This is fun )

Since the deadline's been extended, can I polish my second entry? I rushed it to make the April 13 deadline.

I wanted to add another submission but I'll be out of town on business until Saturday, so this is just a sketch. Didn't have time to color it. And sorry about the graph paper. I used it to help me keep parallel lines parallel. But when I scan the drawing, I can't get rid of the grid. Anyway, this is another Pontiac, recalling the old full-size coupes and sedans of the late 60's with their cool rear fender skirts. This is a full size coupe. I tried to pull in some design elements from the Grand Prix sedans of the mid-90's. The light bar from that model is inverted here in the twin vertical lighting elements. Comments?

And here's the rear 3/4 view with a sketch of the full rear view. I know it's awkwardly drawn, but Im posting it anyway. Maybe I'll get better with practice.

This design is inspired by the Grand Am, which is the fore runner of the G6. I always liked the beveled intakes on the Grand AM and the loss of that feature on the G6 and Solstice makes the newer cars look less substantial and less sporty, imo. So this is not an intentional "tweak" of the Trans Am resurrection drawing. However, the artist is often the least objective critic of his work. I did lots of sketches for the resurrection project and some of those designe cues that I mulled over may have gotten stuck in my head. By the way, I wish I had posted the first drawing I did. It was better than the one I posted which, in retrospect, looks pretty bad.

Okay, here's my first shot at it.

Sketch Competition #15 - (GM Resurrection) Voting
Hey waitaminut. I have a question. The contest stipluates that each entry must contain Two of the entries posted here don't qualify. If I knew we could just submit one image, I wouldn't have added the hastily drawn 3/4 rear view to my entry. Whatever. If I enter another, I'll ignore that rule and just submit one drawing.

Hmmm. That's a bit of a challenge. It's hard to communicate front or rear drive with a body style unless you have superwide rear tires and flared fenders. But it should spark some good ideas....

Okay, here's my first submission. I think next time, I'll just do it in pencil. I'm not very good with the markers. The rear view was done very hastily just to have 2 3/4 views according to the rules. This is a 2010 TransAm.

I just found this forum while searching for pics of my favorite muscle car, the SLP Firehawk Trans Am. I can't believe you guys are holding a design competition!! . I am a frustrated automotive designer wannabe and would LOVE to send you some designs. What are the guidelines in terms of media, image size, format, etc. I currently drive a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora, so maybe I'll do one of those or a current TransAm. How many entrees are we allowed? Oh wait. I just read the post about the Oldsmobiles. Okay, how about a 2008 TransAm or Bonneville GXP?
