Geneva world premiere for Cruze hatchback
I think it looks great. I can't tell what everyone is saying changed so much from the concept. I hope we get it here and my parents consider replacing the HHR with it.

My church's secretary is on a cruise in Hawaii right now. I hope she's ok. That's really frightening.

What extinct or endangered body style do you want to see come back?

Have gas prices already started affecting SUV/Truck pricing?
Rattle Rattle Rattle Plastic Plastic Plastic? That's what I didn't like about the HHR/Cobalt yeeeeessssss Every time you hit a reasonably bump or dip the giant Fisher-Price plastic shelf in the back rattles and crashes and makes the bump seem twice as jarring as it would normally feel. Not to mention we've had to replace the steering column and now the switch that activates the hatch latch doesn't work, negating most of the utility my mom got the stupid car for. And it gets disappointing fuel economy. And I can't get comfortable in any of the seats. And it's ugly.

Shadows
Neat concept and cool photos. I especially like the second one. Long shadows are loooooong.

Your Automotive Family Tree
My grandpa liked European cars. He owned at least two MGs and a Triumph TR6. My dad has owned several Beetles, but also a Camaro and a Civic CVCC wagon in which he smugly recounts smoking V8 muscle cars between traffic lights. My mom says her family's first new car was a Gremlin, and she's notably owned a Nova, a Fiero and an Audi 5000. During my childhood we had a VW Vanagon, a couple of Golfs and an Audi, but lately we've been sticking to GM cars. My grandpa and uncle both worked for GM, so I think that's where the loyalty mostly comes from. I have yet to buy a car of my own and I probably won't for a long time. I've always felt the closest identification with GM cars, but if I were shopping I'd be open to pretty much anything.

Did someone mention rumble seats yet?

Gotten the HHR. My mom bought it on an impulse to replace our Bravada and we've all grown to dislike it.

Small change to the Politics section
I think this will be good for our collective blood pressure.

it feels so wrong
I don't know if I find them attractive, but definitely rare and intriguing, since I've only ever seen a couple in my life.

Let's say
Internal combustion engines still depend on gasoline. When it was brand new, there weren't gas stations everywhere. But the infrastructure grew and adapted to the demand. What would happen if you ran out of gas in the middle of Death Valley? It would be no different from running out of gas in the middle of Death Valley in a range-extended EV. Either way, if you plan well it won't happen.

Why are you so dead-set against electric cars?

Golf Ragtop!
Sweet. So much better than the blah Eos.

Let's say
I like the idea of only having to buy a fraction of the gas I do now (which is about 10 gallons a week). I'd love to have a Karma, but I think I'd be happy with a Volt as well.
