you hear a lot of people talking a lot of talk about running synthetic but, i've been running synthetic in my bike from day one (10 kms on the odometer) and i switched my old car ( a '95 concorde) to synthetic @ around 240,000 kms. it's got > 465,000kms now and i've never looked back. start your car up in -30C after letting it sit overnight and you'll know. watch the usual, but if you plan to keep the car, and you have some respect for her, mobil 1 is the way to go. you probably won't see much increase in mileage or power, but it'll be working for you

whatever, having spent a lot of time in a 3.5L impala, and a lot of time in a new 4 cyl camry (both rentals) i can honestly say that the w body impala is a great car. it's nothing special, but for what it is, it's excellent. and most people that i've met who've spent a lot of time in both of the above mentioned cars are always surprised that they liked the impala so much. i don't know if a lot of people who trash w bodies do it for any other reason than they would like to see something new. it's no rear drive small block (i've got an '85 monte ss, and my bro has a '95 impala ss, both sweet cars), but it's making money for GM, it's a good car. period. and that flip and fold rear seat has saved my ass a couple of times i needed to either haul stuff or go an rent a truck or van.

go for it. without a doubt. drive carefully like everyone is out to kill you (they secretly are) and you'll be fine. my suggestion is you go pick up a used GS500 suzuki or something like that till you get used to it. if you choose to move up to something else you can probably sell it back for almost the same price you bought it (market for entry level bikes is always hot). gmpartsgirl's fz6 suggestion is a good one. the problem with bigger and sportier bikes and mileage is: i can get about 40 -45 mpg if i drive the speed limit, don't slam the throttle open to do some quick passing, and baby the thing (ie drive it like a family car)....but no one ever does that--it's just too hard to resist.

i remember after i got hit, and the insurance adjuster was looking over my bike...there was a bmw rs1200 sitting there, and i said, hey that's a nice bike. the adjuster stopped what he was doing and said "kid you don't want to be a bmw driver." the brp is nice...not for everyone, but very unique (so far)! what color are you thinking of?

outside of this place, how many people care about pontiac? not a whole lot. the brands been so mismanaged and diluted for so long...like that pos gp with the hollow dash--that junk can't even pass for a hyundai. and now gm could really do with fewer brands. sometimes the best advice is the hardest advice: just learn to let go.
