I gotta say I'm impressed with the pictures, especially of the red RS model If I am to remain driving a car in the near future, it will have to be one that is both interesting and makes a statement... I could see the Camaro fulfilling those requirements (assuming it is also capable of family hauling duties).

Congrats on the new truck, even if it is the girlfriend's! I would have opted up for one with the 4.8L V8 over the 4.3L V6, but that engine is pretty much bulletproof (I had it in my 2001 GMC Sonoma Highrider). I too like the '02 Sierra that you have; it's a shame she didn't look at the GMC Sierra before buying the '08 Silverado Many happy and trouble-free miles with it

While watching "Last Comic Standing" tonight, NBC showed two promo spots for a new show starting this fall called "My Own Worst Enemy" with Christian Slater. He plays a duel character - Henry, the average joe, and Eddie, a cross between 007 and an assassin. The second promo showed "Henry" driving in his mundane blue Chevy Traverse, while "Eddie" cruises around in a silver 5th generation Camaro coupe. So NBC is showing both Ford (Knight Rider) and Chevy some lovin' with new fall shows.

I'm disappointed that they didn't show the Pontiac Torrent-turned-GMC Terrain too... I'm hoping that the GMC Terrain hasn't been cancelled

Well, I've been looking online (autoshopper.com, autotrader.com, cars.com) at early '90s GMC Yukons & Sierras and the prices have yet to reflect what the economy is going through in my area. I need a truck that can handle once-a-week trips to BJ's Wholesale Club for many cases of beverages and snacks that I sell in my School Store; with the Envoy gone, I'm quite certain that the AURA and G6 each aren't up to the task I've even started looking at mid-to-late '90s GMC Sonomas, but their prices aren't any better. Of course I haven't found the "one" yet, which would allow me to hassle & haggle the price down I'm sure. But if the marketplace is being flooded by trucks & SUVs dealers can't get rid of, then they need to start looking at the prices they're charging for these used vehicles and bring them down to realistic levels (trucks & SUVs are not the "hot" item anymore).

I can't help you out too much, but the GMT-800 series ran in two different "generations" - 1999-2002 and 2003-2006. I do know that along with a MCE, there were a ton of updates done to the GMT-800 pickups with the intro of the 2003 models. Camino and Balthazar are owners of Chevy Silverados from this era, hopefully they'll see this post and respond (in addition to others).

PCS man, you gotta stop doing this stuff... three days ago you say how this wagon won't come here, then you go and post a positive review of the car. I know you're doing it to keep us informed, but since we (namely "I") can't have it, what's the point? GM would definitely sway me on my next purchasing decision (November, 2009) to the Pontiac G8 SportWagon if it was brought to the good ol' US of A. The Delta II-wagon will most likely be too small for my tastes (like the HHR is), and unless a wagon comes out for the Epsilon II cars, the Zeta wagon is my wish. BTW, thanks for the information - it is worthwhile to know regardless of whether we get to enjoy this Zeta version or not.

Saturn's value ot GM is in the customer service ratings earned during the sales expereince and the follow-up service expereinces from owners. I have never really liked having to go to the non-Saturn dealerships for service in the past with my other GM cars; taking my Saturns for service have always been a hassle-free and pleasant experience. I believe GM has taken what they've learned from Saturn and started to make the other GM divisions use it; I'm noticing the BPG dealers I've been using over the last 3 years have changed in positive ways. Is that enough to keep the division alive? I don't think so, but other than a consumer to GM, what does it matter what I think? Apparently something within GM is keeping Saturn to the forefront, and it could be that since this division does not have a LONG history with a majority of American car buyers, maybe GM management feel they can continue to mold Saturn whereas the older divisions it's too late??? I'd be inclined to consider Saturn again when my lease expires in November '09, but that's only if they offer what I need and want at that time. I've had good experience with the two Saturns I've owned, I like the look of the styling direction Saturn is going in, and again the dealer & service experiences have been some of the best I've had since I started leasing new cars back in 1999. Maybe other Saturn owners feel the same way I do, and GM knows it? On the other hand, almost every expereince <not all> I've had with a Chevrolet dealer has been the opposite, and I dread their service departments. One of the reasons why I don't look forward to having to purchase a Chevy in the future. GM needs to work with ALL the Chvey dealers to learn from Saturn, then maybe I'd be willing to deal with Chevy again.

I should have been clearer in my meaning... I meant that the Traverse will pull Tahoe & Suburban owners that don't need those vehicles necessarily for towing and hauling needs. The Denali XT becoming the next Avalanche would be in the same vein - those not needing an Av for towing & hauling needs would go more for the Denali XT version. Trust me, I know Tahoe/Yukon and Suburban/Yukon XL owners that would never go for a Lambda-based vehicle regardless of the fuel situation :AH-HA_wink:

Yeah, I just wish that his GMC Denali XT concept was going to be produced for GMC... that would have made MY day.

Hummer models like the Hx Concept can be rolled into GMC as a retro GMC Jimmy that competes directly with the Jeep Wrangler and Toyota FJ Cruiser. With the Yukon already being sold, the H2 componentry can be added to it to offer a Yukon All-Terrain model for the off-road vehicle market (the Tahoe Z71 would go away). The H3T pickup can become the Canyon, as it is both an improvement and a better vehicle than the Canyon could ever hope to be (and being a true off-road pickup, "Canyon" is the perfect name). The H3 SUV can become the new Envoy All-Terrain, and could come with a part-time 4WD system instead of the full-time 4WD system. Effectively, GMC would go after the niche off-road truck market allowing it to survive while not selling rebadged versions of Chevrolet Trucks (the Sierra would continue on, especially with the All-Terrain model). This way GMC & Hummer merge to become GM's "Jeep"/off-road division, while Chevrolet continues to offer it's core trucks, especially to those not seeking off-road based versions. This way Pontiac-Buick dealers have trucks to sell still that you can't just buy over at Chevrolet, and in the process Chevrolet can have the commercial end too (Topkick gives way to the Kodiak, Savana concedes to the Express, and SL work-based truck versions of the Sierra and Canyon are no longer offered). As for those of you dismissing the G6, realize that my wife looked at and sat in the Malibu, but choose the G6 sedan over it hands down and does not regret not getting what she calls an "older person's" car <Malibu> :AH-HA_wink: Those of you saying that Pontiac owners will go to Chevrolet need to look at how many Oldsmobile owners went to Buick

Well, if 2009 will be GMCs last year of production, I will ask GMAC to allow me to get out of my lease early without penalty, and regardless of gas prices, get the GMC Sierra I've always wanted. I will hate to see it go, and have no option but to sit on the sidelines (like my fellow Oldsmobile friends) and watch GM destroy my favorite division. Like FOG mentioned in another thread, GM is in panic mode due to the current economical situation and they're making rash decisions to "save" money. I guess the fact that being the #2 volume seller for GM doesn't matter once your market shrinks as other factors come into play

With all of the "doom & gloom" surrounding GM lately, and everything I'd want to buy when the time comes not looking too good (Sierra Crew Cab Z71 <fuel costs too much to bare along with the monthly payment>, the Denali XT concept not becoming a reality, no G8 SportWagon on the horizon, etc.), I need some good news sometime soon to keep the little light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel from extinguishing!!!

(downside is that I just spent some of the money I had "saved" on something else, not really car-related ). But I'm curious as to what he wants for it... Oh, and I got a suspicious looking ( :AH-HA_wink: ) package in the mail yesterday (well, I forgot to check the mailbox yesterday so I really got it tonight when I "remembered"). Well, we recently went from a 4WD SUV ('05 Envoy) to a more fuel efficient mid-size car (Pontiac G6); however, I don't consider us a part of that article because the Envoy was leased for 3 years and was due to end on August (18th). We took advantage of GMAC's Pull-Ahead Program and got out of the lease a month & a half early. While the wife did want another SUV <although a tad smaller one (VUE)>, the 32 mile one-way commute dictated that a car giving better fuel economy & easing the pain on our bank account would be the better choice. On a side note, when my lease ends in 17 months (November, 2009), I will consider replacing my mid-size car with another SUV since I drive much less and can use the utility more, but as long as the gas prices haven't soared to astronomical levels. Now if GM were to offer me a sporty <station> wagon, say one wrapped in Pontiac sheetmetal (hint-hint: G8 SportWagon :AH-HA_wink: ), I would really, really, really consider going for that instead.
