A BIG thank you to all involved. I couldn't wait to see all the new NYIAS Saturn stuff and C&G didn't disappoint. I had several other sites I could have went to first, but I knew that the C&G staff wouldn't let me down.

I agree. The piano black trim is one of the things I really like about my future SKY's interior. I was disappointed that the AURA doesn't make use of this trim in it's interior design. And I would have loved to see toned-down versions of the AURA concept's wheels make it to production. The wheels pictured don't help the design at all. Please GM, make these changes and make them fast!

Thanks caddycruiser for those links and tons of info. If you don't mind sharing some info with me, how many miles were on your caddy at the time of purchase and how much was the dealership asking for it? The one I mentioned has 95K on the odometer and they're asking $7995. It has some missing trim pieces and I'm sure there's more to investigate (I went to see the car Sunday night around 9:30 PM - so it was kinda dark). I'm not sure if this car is in good enough shape - it's a '96 which I like and it doesn't have the vinyl roof. But I'm not sure if I want to risk buying a 10 year-old car that isn't in the best of shape.

The NYIAS always happens during Easter. Since Easter is later this year (mid-April instead of at the end of March), the show is being held a little later than what we're use to. With Chicago in February, two months is a long time to wait! I know I can't wait - one of the benefits of being a teacher in my district is that we're off the week after Easter, so I can go any day I want that week (however, I don't wait long as I usually go on Monday!).

To refresh your memory, in case you forgot what the GMC Graphyte looks like: It's still not my favorite GMC, but there are aspects of the design I do like (I just don't like the frontend at all and am glad to see in the spy shots that the Acadia doesn't seem to have it).

I agree with both Croc and Cadillacfan in that if Pontiac is to survive, they need to change their position in GM's hieracrhy. I think Pontiac should become GM's Scion. Offer youth-oriented, performance based vehicles that live up to the "Performance Division" slogan. I'm not saying all models should be performance models, have both the regualr and GT models available. But don't be "we offer something for everyone" division. Yes, I see a SUV in the lineup (something small and AWD - sorta the Pontiac competitor for the BMW X3). No minivan, no trucks. Even though I'd like to see GMC get a version of teh El Camino if it ever made a return, I'm thinking Pontiac would be better to receive it instead (it could be the AWD performance version, a'la Syclone). But a small RWD coupe & sedan, small RWD roadster (Solstice), and a midsize offering in coupe, sedan and convertible (maybe two, the G6 stays FWD and the GP/Bonne replacement is RWD & AWD). And have Pontiac get rid of those damn sport seats with side bolsters as the only seat available!

Here's the problem I have with all newer Pontiacs: All of the newer cars have these damn "sport" seats with the side bolsters. I feel completely uncomfortable with them. My '99 Grand Am GT and the wife's '00 Grand Prix GT sedans didn't have these seats and I loved those two cars. I've always had a thing for new Pontiacs, but because the Grand Prix, G6 & GTO use only these types of seats means I no longer will consider a Pontiac when I'm in the market

I voted for El Camino (and hopefully a GMC variant too) since I feel that all those other versions will come sooner or later. I'd really like to see the El Camino make a return a lot sooner.

Wouldn't you want FWD for winter driving? I thought that was the main benefit of FWD cars? :AH-HA_wink:

Wow Fly... I'm impressed you remembered this... I stated my love for the Sportside bed option well over a year+ ago! Thanks for the heads up too with the PM. I'm very happy to learn this feature is returning on the new GMT-900 pickups.

I bought it off my cousin with a tad over 7k on the odometer... if I'm remembering correctly, it had about 80k when I got rid of it in August of 2000. It handled mostly local driving, so that's why the lower mileage (I wish I still had that luxury today). The 3100 V6 was a bulletproof engine in that car, and I had the auto trans fluid changed and fliter screen cleaned every year, so I never had an issue with the trans. Issues were with the alternator (once), battery (once), driver side power window motor & regulator (3 times), brakes (twice), tires (changed once)... so nothing major really. It was truly a great vehicle - only let me down once (when the battery died!). I do miss it, and sometimes I'm tempted to pay for a CARFAX search to see where it's at today

Any advice you can share when looking to buy a Fleetwood? I found one locally at a used car dealership - '96 Fleetwood Brougham, white with a dark interior (I think maroon, it was late at night and raining), no vinyl roof (a big plus for me).. that's all I know so far. I've always loved these B-bodies and am seriously considering buying this if the mileage is good, the car is in very good shape, and the price is right.

This GMC looks pretty good from what I can see (I guess I'm talking mainly about the frontend design). I had this horrible feeling that last year's UGLY concept, the Graphyte, was the inspiration for the frontend design. Thank God my worries are over! The wife really likes the Enclave, even though she has yet to see the Acadai and Outlook. We'll see the Enclave and Outlook at the upcoming NYIAS... too bad the Acadia won't be there too I think the Acadia might just be the replacement for my '05 Envoy when the lease ends in '08 (or if I could hold out with the Malibu for another year <not likely>, maybe replace the Malibu with the Acadia!).

I just noticed their ads in the new Auto Shopper Magazine's Specialty Shopper. When I checked out their web site, I too felt their prices were a bit high. They have a 1986 Olds 442 with T-tops, but want like $6k or $7K for it (pretty pricey for a car that would need some reconditioning). I though I'd pass them on to you regardless. It is funny that you've not only seen the '71 Chevelle wagon before, but already checked it out!

Assuming you're looking at the '80s G-Bodies (GP/MC), why don't you look into Buick Regals/Grand Nationals and Olds Cutlass Supremes??? What state do you live in and what's your price range???

When I was employed in the business world, I worled many of my jobs in cubes. Then when I got into teaching, I'd usually have a desk in my department's office and/or a desk in my classroom. The new teaching job I took in November (Cooperative Marketing Education Teacher/Coordinator) has blessed me with my very own office - the first in my working life (I'm 31). I enjoy the fact I can tell people I meet I have my own office & phone extension - it's my own little getaway from the rest of the school.

I had a '92 Cavalier Z24 from May of '94 until August '00. Of course it had to be traded in as a down payment on the new car at the time. However, I wish I had the money to keep it - it had a bulletproof engine & transmission, was still in great shape for being an eight year old car, and even though I was owner #2 (wife was owner #3), it was first owned by my cousin who only put 7,000 miles on it in the 20 months she owned it. It wassn't the greatest car, but I sure do have fond memories of the 6 years I owned it (including the wife's two years of ownership). So I say keep the car, put the $$$ into it to make it last, buy that house and then get yourself a new car. I know before we bought our first place together I was told this advice many times, even if I didn't want to listen to it. But now that I'm a little wiser and older, I can say that advice is true. If it's a good car, keep it and buy that house. Your credit will be better when you go for that new car aferwards anyway!

#4 is the 1955 Tucker Carioca, the sports car Preston Tucker envisioned in Brazil. Here's the proof: Tucker moved to Brazil sometime shortly after the trial in 1950; he later died of lung cancer there in 1956. While this car was never built (although that picture sure does seem like one was built), it was his second dream car based off of the highboy hot rods of his time. I'd say don't worry about it at all. Maybe she's worried that you're thinking that she's too tall!!! Go to dinner, talk and have fun. If she's shallow and is concerned about your height, then you'll be glad to be rid of her now than later. I can see if you two hit it off after your first date but she was concerned about your height. You didn't even go out yet - so why worry about crossing that bridge when you're no where near it? Don't sweat the petty things (and don't pet the sweaty things) - relax and have fun meeting someone new.
