So, is a Verano GS not far behind? I am very impressed with the Verano and am still trying to sweet talk the wife into one (she's hellbent on a '13 Encore). I think the Turbo model would be a hoot to drive, and a more aggressively styled GS model would be killer

I like it, especially since it's a base model that you don't see all too often. Talk to Camino, as he has plenty of experience with one of these (I think his is a '95 or '96). I'd also venture to say that the current owner (or previous owner but not factory) installed the rubber bodyside mouldings, as I believe the base model Tahoe came without them (I could be mistaken though). The rims are '99-'02 Silverado base truck rims, JSYK.

I think we're both seeing it differently! Here's how I view it: Current: Sketch: Spy Shot: 2001 Silverado Headlight: I still see more length in the spy shot headlight than what the sketch indicates. Regardless, SeawolfPaul's artwork is awesome!!

Interesting picture, the '55 2ndSerries one: That is not the 100% production model. The hubcaps look to be from the '54/'55 1st series and the hood emblem was not a simple "bow-tie" emblem. The license plate reads 3000, which is the series model number, though many refer to the individual numbers instead (3100, 3200, 3600, 3800) when discussing these trucks. There is no issue with 3000; however, that would be like GM using a license plate GMT-900 on the current model's pre-production photo. I don't recall ever seeing this picture before and it's funny that PickupTrucks.com used it as a reference to the actual production models for '55-'59.

After looking at the sketch above and reviewing the AutoBlog spy pictures again, I think the drawing's headlights are off. They are too much in the vein of the current (GMT-900) Silverado and I don't think they match the spy shot very well. I feel the headlights will be more GMT-400/800 like - longer - than square. I don't recall any production truck using a V6 engine? Haven't they all been diesel's so far?

From the GMC Sierra HD All Terrain Concept Press Kit: Also, realize that with the suspension lift the rear wheels do not intrude into all the way into the bed as on a normal pickup. Those bedside "bumps" are for the Rambox-like storage bins on the top (reason for the "bumps" to be so tall).

ocnblu, I think you've found your future weekend camping vehicle

I agree with you ocnblu, the GM ordering system has not shown any improvements in the past decade. When I worked at a BPG dealership ('99-'00), it was always 4-8 weeks minimum (some customers waited longer for certain product) for a custom-ordered vehicle. I waited 8 weeks for my '01 GMC Sonoma Highrider because I wanted Indigo Blue Metallic. You would think with all of the improvements in technology over the past decade GM would have improved this system. IMHO, GM doesn't want their customers to order a vehicle and wants them to take something off the lot. Find a salesperson happy to take your order and not push you into a dealer search (dealer trade) and you found a salesperson for life!

I know that GMC and Chevy Trucks in 1979 offered the silver interior color, and I'm almost positive it was vinyl and cloth, not leather, in the pickup trucks. GMC called theirs Mystic.
