Last time I did karaoke, I did The Way You Make Me Feel at my wife's request. That wasn't easy because Michael Jackson sang an octave higher than me. Before that, I did Love by Musiq Soulchild. Owned that bad boy, too.
  2. From what I understand, most call it Modesto.
  3. Couldn't blow it up further to tell.
  4. What I want to know, once you're done with it, is if it's worth the 80 grand on the sticker.

At the risk of sounding like a science geek, I'm guessing because "lumina" is closer to the lumen, which has more to do with light and less to do with electricity.

It's odd, because it's kinda apples-and-oranges to compare wheelbases between FWD and RWD platforms. Case in point: the Infiniti G has only a slightly shorter wheelbase than the Ford Taurus (112.2" versus 112.9"). Yet no one would peg those cars as close in size.

This right here. Sadly enough, there are very few luxury marques that aren't seemingly chasing volume these days. BMW, Merc, Lexus, even Porsche. All entering every segment they can in order to chase volume.

I thought about this post earlier... And yet every LS600hL is spoken for before they get a chance to hit lots... at $45K more than the LS460... and at 203.9 inches, which is a shade under 17 feet. This is what sheeple with money buy.

I think I saw some numbers a while back that stated that although the body is definitely longer, the wheelbase is exactly the same. Take from that what you will.

You think it will lower prices even 9/10ths of a cent? Well, that little 9 at the end of the prices is becoming harder and harder to scrape together these days.

    SEPTA Regional Rail?
  12. The Evo is/has become Mitsubishi's raison d'être in the US. They were the only reason that Mitsu was still on the map to a great extent (halo effect over all the Lancers). Also, the Evo X was offered with a DCT as well, so I'm not following your diatribe about the manuals.
  13. They must be giving the Lucernes away... Good month. I've seen several Regals on the road here. CTS rebounded in a huge way too.
  14. congrats! Thank you very much.

Don't get me started on jersey Shore. I'll be here for hours typing up a dissertation on how it offends me as an Italian. Supposedly, they'll be going to Italy or something, and hopefully the REAL Italians will tell those fools what a damn disgrace they are. I'm sure the show is offensive to all New Jersey residents also.. hard to imagine that the mindlessness of the show reflects the state and it's residents in any realistic way. Or course, all I know about New Jersey is from the TV drama 'The Sopranos' that I really liked, that my favorite musician and band is from there (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band), and that AT&T Bell Labs in Murray Hill was a pretty cool place to work in the '90s (a number of friends from grad school went to work there back in the day). In my first year of teaching, easily half my students were from New Jersey. None of them acted anything like the people on that show.

The popularity of Jersey Shore is all the answer you need to your last question.
  17. I've seen a little of everything. In order, my dad during my lifetime has had an '84 Subaru GL, an '87 BMW 735i, an '88 Chevy C1500 Silverado, and currently drives an '06 STS. My mom has had a Datsun 200SX, an '85 Subaru GL, a '90 Acura Legend, and currently (but not for long) drives a '94 MB E320. The family hauler is a '96 Econoline conversion van. My maternal grandparents have always had an F150 and a Crown Victoria in the stable. My paternal grandparents have had an LTD Crown Victoria, an F100 Ranger, a Mitsubishi Mirage, and currently a Nissan Quest and our old Silverado. Interesting story though... when my grandfather found out I had bought the Bonneville, he told me that he had had a Pontiac Chieftain back in the day. I'd love to see pictures of it if he has any.
  18. 1. Learn how to play bass guitar. 2. Present a paper at a conference. 3. Get my GPA higher. (not that it's low at all, but still) 4. Upgrade the crappy stock speakers in the Bonneville. 5. Pay off the Bonneville while I'm at it. 6. Replace my ten-year-old desktop PC. 7. Be a great father to our first child due in late June.

The tanks in both the Bonneville and the Maxima are 18.5 gallons. One more half gallon isn't world-ending for me.

My drive is pretty flat in VA, but through NC, SC, and GA there are quite a few elevation changes. I coast all the downhill parts much like you probably do. Seems like the Volt's range would be much greater if it were a conventional hybrid instead of a dedicated EV. But then again, I understand that that wasn't the point of the Volt.

Seriously? The Taurus SHO (a car I've been looking at) has a theoretical 323-mile range... city. 470something highway. Add to that the fact that my trip home is about 96% highway, and suddenly 350 miles nonstop doesn't seem all that great a hurdle to cross.

I prefer not stopping if I can help it.

My last long trip was from Brodnax, VA to Athens, GA (coming back from Christmas vacation). 400something miles, didn't stop for gas until I got back to Athens. It was in the Bonneville.

I vote fossil fuel. I take a lot of interstate road trips, and no electric car will fit my needs in that respect. Not as soon as 2012, anyway.
  25. I look at it this way... On one end of the spectrum of people who care about cars and will pay a premium for what they want, you have your drivers who want a solid, comfortable ride and don't care about the performance. The base Regal goes here. On the other end, you have the ones who value acceleration, handling, braking, etc. Obviously the Regal GS. The Regal Turbo seems to be marketed in the middle.
