A Plan for Cadillac - A RWD Compact is the KEY
"Selling on badge" is preying upon those who rarely if ever do research on the cars they're going to buy. Which excludes most of us on this site, fortunately. Toyota still has people thinking that their cars are assembled by angels and emit stardust from their tailpipes, something that a smart shopper would know enough to check on. I will give BMW (and all the Germans) credit... they still make driver's cars for the most part. However, they're milking people these days.

Around here we lambaste Toyota for doing this exact same thing. Do BMW and its customers get a pass just because it's a luxury marque?

Infiniti shares the VQ engines between brands but differentiates them with different tuning (and direct injection). Also, all of the Infinitis besides the QX56 sit on the same platform as the 370Z (called FM platform). Toyota/Lexus shares the GR engines, especially the 2GR-FE and -FSE, between the brands much like Infiniti (the direct-injection FSE going into the Lexus models). The Lexus GX sits atop the same platform as the 4Runner and FJ Cruiser. Don't forget about the blatant rebadge that is the Lexus LX. By your own logic, though, you say Cadillac shouldn't share platforms, but then you want them to share a platform with the G8 (may it rest in peace) and the Camaro. Which is it?

Agreed. If they're gonna expand overseas, a wagon may not be a bad idea either. For weight savings, I'd say let's use the 3.0 V6TT instead of the 3.6. Unless you were thinking of a V-series application... which would be somewhat innovative for luxury performance lines in the sense that "everything old is new again" (think previous BMW M cars). But yeah, that's a definite problem with GM's new offerings. I wonder how much it would cost them to cut weight... I did read that Jaguar is going to all aluminum, which is pricier. All of the luxury marques that are part of larger corporations (Lincoln, Infiniti, Lexus, Acura, even Volvo) share platforms and engines with their mainstream counterparts. There's not some endless money vault that any company can draw from to create completely differentiated parts; if they could, they would have already.

Photo-controlled intersections and the cameras
Camino, wasn't Roosevelt Blvd (US 1) planned to be a freeway but downgraded to a really wide boulevard? I drove it once on my way from NYC back to Baltimore. It definitely looks like it should have been controlled-access from the jump.

Observations
I've seen the Pepsi one but haven't gotten it yet. The Mountain Dew Throwback was pretty disappointing though. Not only did it not have the HFCS (which I can deal with), it didn't have the orange flavoring that gives it that extra... something.

pointless fights
I asked my wife which way she preferred. She said, like many women, that from the top is the best way to go... but when she gotta do what she gotta do, she's not gonna complain if the paper is reversed.

I Can't Drive 65!, Man pulled over for going too slow
50 is a full freeway all the way from DC to somewhere across the Chesapeake Bay. No lights, just interchanges. And it depends on where he was on the road. The speed limit does jump unexpectedly down there.

I Can't Drive 65!, Man pulled over for going too slow
The very same 50. Goes through some typical DC-area suburbia here in Maryland before it crosses the Bay Bridge. Interestingly, you can't see any of it from the freeway, probably by design. On the topic, the defendant seems to have every right to win this case and have the ticket thrown out. It wasn't 65 yet, so he's within his rights to drive 55 there.

RWD Cadillac Flagship Back On Track, Plus Two New Buicks Approved
Why don't they cut all the drama and extra work and just say, then, that they're gonna bring out a fully redesigned STS? That's essentially what it's gonna be... and essentially what it should be.

True, but now we have a better target with which to play Whack-a-Troll. smk just started making too much sense recently (for him), so we had to trade him out.

"Equate," YJ, not "equivocate." "Equivocate" is what this new guy has been doing with his statements. On point with everything else though.

Stars, Stripes and Spots
Saw my first new 7 Series on the road. Like some have said, this one is a much better successor to the E32 than the previous model.

What amazes me
Personally, I wouldn't mind a new front fascia. The current ME nose reminds me way too much of the previous Aveo in its design, especially around the grille. However, if it had the new Chevy face somehow, it would make the car look much more modern.
