FUTURE PRODUCTS -- GENERAL MOTORS
When was this? I don't remember BMW ever not having a true flagship. MB either. Lexus, Infiniti, and (for the sake of discussion) Acura began their existence here with their largest cars. I have a problem with Cadillac's flagship being a smaller car like the CTS. But I do like the idea of those models carrying the brand image. My thing is, as I've said before... innovation should flow from the flagship down, not from the midlevel up. That's something Caddy has been doing for too long, and as a result, they have models too close together at the present. Can you tell I have a thing for the STS, by the way?

FUTURE PRODUCTS -- GENERAL MOTORS
Strangely enough, STS matches up in size against the German and Japanese big luxury sedans (except the S-Class, which is just huge now). IMO, keep and revamp the STS, maybe stretch it just a bit enough to put a larger engine (Sixty8Panther's V16? though I doubt it), and THOROUGHLY redo the interior. The engine choices and subpar-for-this-segment interior are what hold the STS back. Question: can they DI the N* V8? That would save them the trouble of having to redesign it completely.

FUTURE PRODUCTS -- GENERAL MOTORS
The Tahoe/Suburban replacements seem to be the only part I can't get with. Everything else is cool, especially the Impala FINALLY being replaced by... something. Let's hope it gets AWD as an option.

FUTURE PRODUCTS -- GENERAL MOTORS
Fixed. Does anyone know if the Pontiacs are getting upgraded center stacks a la Buick?

FUTURE PRODUCTS -- GENERAL MOTORS
This is the only part that made me . Would not a larger sedan be positioned against 7/S/A8/LS?

Full Test: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V
They resemble, yeah, but I personally wouldn't confuse the two. The rest of the body, esp. the hood, is the key.

Full Test: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V
I guess we'll have to wait for a magazine review to see how it responds as a daily driver.

Faster than an M5: First Cadillac CTS-V performance test published
Ever the optimist, I was comparing the current (and impending) Caddy lineup. Although I did like some of the FWD cars that it had (mainly the previous STS), things are definitely better now. They've made progress, now let's see if they can make progress beyond that progress.

One more thing about why the CTS doesn't have a large displacement DOHC V8... I remember hearing somewhere that the current N* V8 wouldn't fit into the engine bay. So what good would a larger-displacement engine do? Yes sir, Deputy Dog. BMW and MB charge that much because they can... they know people will buy them. Not because the cars are worth it, but because the badging and the plane ticket from Germany are apparently worth it. Sorta like these bland $7 sandwiches that people go buy... I remember when my mother bought her E-Class for $30K, new, back in '94. She couldn't even buy a C-Class for that same price today. Yes, I know prices have inflated in 14 years, but that's a 74% jump. Not all of it is due to technological advancement, either... brands just know that they can tack on "reputation" or "brand cache" charges. Cadillac, and for that matter Lincoln, still has to lift itself out of the hole it dug for itself for much of the past 20something years. They're making progress, as I feel Caddy has the best lineup now than they ever had in the past 10 years... but they still have a ways to go.

Strangely enough, the largest-displacement engines in any vehicle on the market that I can think of are in the Corvette Z06 and in the Viper SRT-10. Of course, the Veyron displaces more than the 'Vette, but with twice as many cylinders.

Basic truth, one that several of us can live with. Notice here that no one said that OHV was completely superior to OHC, but the floodgates always bust open when someone says that OHC is completely superior to OHV. This is a GM site, after all...

He said "recent." As in "most likely still in production." IIRC, GM doesn't even use the LS1 anymore. Keep in mind that V12 is twin-turboed, which is where the low-end torque comes from. OHC had nothing to do with that.

Not supposed to be volume... they only make a couple thousand a year... Resale means nothing if you buy cars to keep. They make them by hand, for one... two, the interior is MUCH better (seriously, can you be any more biased?)... Though I myself do wonder why they dialed back the power on the V, since the same engine makes 469 hp in the STS-V... There's only one supercharged AMG and it's the SL55, which is a convertible. So, since your facts aren't straight, there's no sense in answering this one.

I don't disagree with you, but much of BMW and M-B pricing is just the plane ticket from Bavaria and Stuttgart... not necessarily that the cars may actually be worth the plane ticket. Oh yeah, they charge 100 grand for the XLR-V, remember?

It's still a Cadillac, man. Not gonna sound like an S2000 or anything.

2,970 HP? That's train power.

1) As many have said, fractions of seconds are impressive on a track. They often equal car lengths. 2) Go find an M5 without a governor and we'll talk. How much you can mod a car means absolutely NOTHING. 3) We have car enthusiasts, we have people with money, and we have car enthusiasts with money. Look at that list and tell me which there are more of in the market. Yep, it's the ones with money. AKA the badge snobs. Who don't give a crap about what's under the hood anyway just as long as it has the roundel, 3-point star, four circles, or the L within the oval.

Yep, and they did it with fewer cylinders (V8 vs. V10) and a smaller package overall (OHV vs. DOHC).

Duh: Cadillac shelves that whole V12 thing
If they were ever to make a V16, I (personally) would prefer that it be a V-Series only engine. Not everyone deserves the gift that is engine size.
