Hybrids have been hyped too heavily, and diesels have too negative a history for diesels to overtake hybrids as the economy powerplant for a long time. If more diesel models were available, and if bio diesel were more heavily marketed, that would be different. But it is what it is.

I agree most people aren't going to cross-shop the diesel BMWs or the Prius. This would've been far more interesting if it were Jetta TDI vs Prius.

So far I cant complain about this radio. I love the idea of an in-dash iPod docking station, my only concern is the durability of the faceplate, since I'll be removing the iPod 2-3 times per day. The display wouldn't stay closed, but the one in the car works fine.. It was a clearance item at Best Buy, normally $249, I paid $158.

These are cars, not food. Most people can stretch from a $10 hamburger to a $40 steak without too much trouble. Stretching from a $30,000 Prius to a $40,000+ BMW isn't as easy, you're talking a $150+ difference in monthly payment.

$0.04/gallon less here, still a huge difference in initial price.

Nascar is incredibly stupid. There are no technological advances coming out of it, you cant buy the cars they race at any dealership, its literally just a bunch of dudes turning left. Would you watch the Kentucky Derby if it went on for 4 hours? Didn't think so, but thats all Nascar is.

Got one minor issue taken care of. I got a new radio installed today, so I no longer have to listen to our $h!ty local radio stations.
