If you believe that GM could even attempt to buy a majority stake in Nissan at this time than the stuff you smoke is even stronger than my stuff.
-
....
With their current market value and cash reserves they are not in the position to take over any major car manufacturer. At the same time GM could be easily overtaken if somebody would be stupid enough to attempt.

GM doesn't have enough money to buy a majority stake in any major car manufacturer. Nissan is worth more than GM and Renault combined.

....
And GM would pay for that with what?

Information about Renault
How are they ready for it? What's the difference between paying $6 a gallon and getting 30 MPG and paying $3 a gallon and getting 15 MPG?

NISSAN / RENAULT "Alliance"
GM is not in the position to form an alliance with anybody right now, thanks to their stock price. Alliance is when two roughly evenly valued companies agree to cooperate.

Information about Renault
I don't think so, you guys can have your 40K Euros Skodas.

Information about Renault
I'll put this against all of the vehicles mentioned in this thread.

New Honda CR-V Uncovered
There is way too much metal above the side windows, starting from the B pillar toward the D pillar.

Snake Eyes – Kerkorian’s Game of Craps
IIRC they did say they would like to have GM board approval of any deal, I don't think they want to get into hostile situation. As you said, they don't need anybodies approval to buy GM stock on the open market but I guess if the alliance is to work it's better if everybody is cooperating. BTW, my shares are not for sale, I think I can make much more long term if GM stays completely independent.

Snake Eyes – Kerkorian’s Game of Craps
GM is making positive turnaround moves and if you want to make money you have to jump in before the stock market realizes what's going on. How come nobody was suggesting an alliance with GM a year ago? GM stock was $90 while being under much more unfavorable labor situation when compared to today and even more importantly in a year or so.

VW to replace all automatics with DSG?
What happens when the computer is expecting you to go from 2nd to 3rd gear but you unexpectedly slow down and now the first transmission is in the wrong gear, any noticeable delay?

Ruling is near on GM engine coolant
I don't think it's acceptable for a 7 years old vehicle with only 75K miles to have massive coolant leaks.

Ruling is near on GM engine coolant
Longer than that.

Ruling is near on GM engine coolant
Last year I had to spend ~1K on replacing hoses on my 98 Chevy cargo van. It had only 75K miles at the time, way too early for that kind of problem IMO.

Rebadged Opel Astra will come to U.S at end of '07
My bad, I got them mixed up.

The problem with S series is that god awful Opel 3.0 engine. There are diesels more refined than that engine.

There is nothing efficient about importing cars from Europe these days. Unfavorable exchange rate and even higher labor costs than in the US. I doubt GM will make a penny on this deal.

Toyota recalls 57,000
Everybody is doing it, do a research about the CTS's rear differential.

Toyota prices 07 Camry
If you compare them V6 to V6 then you will be comparing cars with ~$5K price difference.

Just As Soon As GM Dumps Fiat
Don't they use Fiat diesel tech. in Europe?

Chicago: 2007 Lincoln MKZ
You have to work with what you got. GM didn't delay the CTS a year because the 3.6 engine wasn't ready?

Chicago: 2007 Toyota Tundra
If they can sell 100K Tundras a year right now than the next gen. will sell 200K a year easily. They will get there step by step, one day they will sell as many pickups as GM and Ford. It might take another 3 or 4 generations but they will get there.

Camaro pics from NAIAS
That looks to me like a 06 CTS differential.
