  1. I grew up in a communist country and even over there there wes no tax on vehicles made in the factories owned by foreign manufacturers.
  2. Very interesting read, please feel free to educate us some more. :)
  3. If you can't make something and sell it at a competitive price than you shouldn't be making it. It's not my job to support anybodies inefficiencies. I'm self employed and don't think for one minute that anybody ever hired me because they felt sorry for me or because they cared about my standard of living. It's all about what you get for your money.
  4. There is nothing "maybe" about saved $5 but yours "maybe" is just maybe. http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif
  5. Anytime I buy something for $5 that would otherwise cost me $10(if made in the US) it's like my income went up by $5.
  6. Why use your own money, dividend alone should just about cover the interest on this loan.
  7. If GMAC goes public will all GM shareholders get some of the new shares? I want some too. :D
  8. Nice video, but I have to say all those people standing there are just plain stupid.
  9. Member55 replied to Flybrian's topic in Chevrolet
BOF is history, only full size SUVs will be BOF if gas prices stay high or go even higher in the future.
  10. Any person that needs a surgery in the US will get one, including your grandmother.
  11. Even if GMAC is sold they will still service GM's auto loans. They need each other. Who the hell would want GMAC if they would lose access to 5 million potential auto loans every year.
  12. They are at the point where they will do stuff just to show the whole world how successful they are. We were there 80-90 years ago. At this point we don't have to build tallest building, biggest bridges etc., in order to prove that we are the greatest nation in the world. Today, unless a sound business case can justify it it's not going to be built in this country.
  13. Are they stopping us from building more refineries?
  14. Buick gets my vote. It's making more money than Pontiac, SAAB, Saturn combined.
  15. 0-60 in 22 seconds?
  16. Why don't they go public with GMAC but still keep a majority stake. How would that work out?
  17. Brake the union to give the companies a chance to survive.
  18. GM doesn't want them back. Why would they want 20000 UAW members back?
  19. My quess is that GM would have to continue losing money for another 7 or 8 quarters before filling for bankruptcy.
  20. 300K SAABs? Are they recalling every SAAB made since 1950?:D
  21. GM is not going into bankruptcy, they have about 20 billion in cash and probably another 20 billion in assets all over the world. Don't you have to be broke in order to file for Chapter 11? It's interesting to see how quick was GM to pint out that they might have to cover 12 billion in pension and health care liabilities. I think that GM is intentionally making itself look as bad as possible in order to squeeze as much as possible from the UAW.
  22. Kirk Kerkorian must be loving this, another opportunity to load up some more cheap GM stock.
  23. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford and GM eventually form some kind of alliance. If they keep loosing market share.
  24. I don't know about that front end.
