Wait, is this what Saturn's website was in 2001? Substituting "Saturn" in the URL for any other GM brand works as well. They all feature that brand's 2001 lineup, but the design seems more advanced than it would've been in 2001.

I'd blame the W-body architecture for the Lacrosse's mid-90s styling. It's almost impossible for a brand to innovate when forced to work with such an outdated platform. The W-bodies are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to design.

The ad features a G6 convertible, and while the idea behind the commercial may be better than the execution, producers certainly got the casting right. With a tweaked front-end (something that likely would've been adressed for production regardless), the XP was the car that would've saved Buick.

Those of us who don't want a car that dives, rolls, bucks, bobs and bounces when we get even slightly aggressive with it. Those of us who prefer cars without excessive overhangs and dated proportions. Those of us who care about packaging and don't need a large car with limited rear-legroom. :wink:

I'd imagine the design directions of Buick NA and Buick China will begin to mesh in the near future, especially if GM has plans to globalize the brand. It's a shame that Buick China has a compact car with more Velite-influence than anything here.

A base Lacrosse CX (wheel covers and all) was parked next to a Taurus in the parking lot at my work today. The Lacrosse was an indistinct tan color, as was the Taurus. The similarities between the two are astounding, to the point where I seriously wonder whether Buick used the Ford as inspiration. Needless to say, the Lacrosse was driven by a woman in her mid-80s.
