The front fender line reminds me of what I don't like about the Mustang. Flat and shapeles. In fact the front 3/4's of the side ARE Chrysler.

Early on many where making the point that that facility that builds the Sol has a capacity of 400,000 units per year. Anyone think GM may be considering ramping up production.

BUT, if you can only have one car, To be practical, you need a trunk. I LOVE the Solstice and the Sky but I could not own one. I would get an MX-5 though. May not be as sexy but it IS sporty and it is practical. Now if GM would just get that Nomad out the door, we ALL would be happy!

The Copperhead WAS an awesome looking car in person. I still have a model on my desk at work. Right next to it is a model of the Nomad concept. GM should just do the engineering and get the Nomad out the door. It would open up an entirely new direction for small. 4 seat vehicles which could be sold worldwide. A lot of that engineering must have been done to make the Nomad concept in the first place.

Interior bites! Did Chrysler hire all the old GM interior designers? First the 300, the Charger and this Challenger have the WORST interiors I ever saw. (on the other hand, I love the Pacifica interior).

This is the best summery I have seen so far. It is nuts to condemn every "retro' design as trash. As in all designs, each needs to be assessed on its own merits. Sure, the Solstice is a VERY retro design (an almost generic sports car look, if not Pontiac specific) , as is the HHR. The Sky is not (in my opinion). Doesn't make any one better than another. As all things visual, it is in the eye of the beholder. And if you don't like the Challenger, it doesn't mean it is bad, or that you are nuts (just in my opinion).

And the Solstice ISN"T retro???

Wouldn't that chassis work nicely with the Charger concept car from a few years back??? Call it the Charger LX ??

I voted for a more modern aproach because I know they can do innovative and interesting design and I love to see them stretch out, BUT, I do like this car. Never saw a Mustang I would buy, but my all time fav muscle car was the Challenger. And wouldn't it be nice to have a muscle car that handles and stops like a vette instead of a tractor? That is one aspect that the new Mustang has addressed. Hopefully this Challenger can better that.

Went yesterday. Unlike previous years. GM didn't have a pile of their year old concepts. In fact the only concept they had was the Aura. They also had an Escalade with an irridescent paint job. Last year they had the Nomad and the Cad 16. The Aura and the Sky were tucked back in the very remotest corner of the show. Rathe poor presentation for an up and coming brand! BUT, the Sky IS awesome. Just a gorgeous machine. They had two Solstice on display, one on a turntable and one you could sit in. They categorically refused to raise the rear ldeck lid. They are really feeling the heat of that design decision to put that big lump in the trunk. The were very quick to state the storage dimensions but they refused to show it. The best concept (of the very few there) was a Lexus 2 door, 4 seat convertable, ultra sleek style. Chrysler had a 300, a Charger and a PT convertable all tricked out in ultra pimpmobile regalia. Some people don't like this. I thought they were incredible. Especially liked the butterfly front doors. They also trotted out the old Dual Cowl Phaeton concept. You could get your picture taken in front of it. Still an amazing car, with a bleak instument panel. They also had a couple os dozen Vettes from almost every year, couple of dozen Ferrari's old and new. and the biggest row of Lotus's I have ever seen. About 18 assorted types.

I have said it before, I like a "new" vehicle to look like a "new" vehicle. I don't want to say, "it looks like the old one" or "where have I seen that before?". Great, the interior is better, the quality is better (which in a utility vehicle is more telling) but how can you feel like you are driving something special if it is a direct and (very) subtle evolution from (many) previous vehicles? Yes, evolution is safe, but revolution can sell more cars with less PR if well done. And, yes, I admit, revolution isn't a formula achievement. It needs new thinking, new risks, and cajones, but, it worked for the Chysler 300, the PT, the HHR (which IS somewhat derivative but not for GM) the Corvette, the Solstice, the Sky, the Riviera, and could work for the Velite and the Nomad.

And my ideal car. Being one of the masses that can only afford, (or want the trouble of) less than two cars, I REALLY want a sports car with room in it. That is the Nomad on the nose! That said, the V8 Solstice IS awesome! Wonder how it can stay on the road without the tire/wheel upgrade?

Much better looking than the stock HHR, but doesn't touch the Nomad. This is a tricked out van, the Nomad is a sports car with room. When they put out the Nomad, I will, for the first time, buy a GM.

Most reviewers said the droptop was a much better looking car than the coupe. I think they should trash the Crossfire and bring out the Copperhead.

My mantra. A friend of mine thought the Nomad nothing special until he saw it the San Francisco auto show. He started drooling!

It is a beautiful balance of sportyness and distinguished looking machinery as most of the Buicks of the pre 70's were. Yes, it would need some work to make it production ready (what chassis?) but I would hope they could retain that inherent "classiness" it achieves. Makes an awesome and special distinctly Buick statemant.

I would have to see the Challenger first. You know Chrysler is going to produce an interesting looking car. You have no such assurance from GM. The Mustang, as always, is a gargoyle!
