Hummer or Smart
Behemoth vs. Barbie Car: We hope our automotive future lies somewhere in between BOB GRITZINGER Posted Date: 9/16/05 When comparing distant ends of the automotive universe, it is hard to get further apart than the humongous Hummer H1 Alpha and the diminutive Smart ForTwo. If your neighborhood resembles southern Iraq you may want to opt for the H1, but if you are a commuter worrying about fuel prices nudging past $3 a gallon, the ForTwo starts looking darn intelligent. After spending a few days buzzing around in the latest H1, the 2006 model done up in Alpha trim, followed by a similar stint in a not-for-U.S.-sale ForTwo we borrowed from a local auto supplier, it is safe to say neither vehicle is ready for prime time on America’s roadways. The Smart’s 53-inch track feels way too small on freeways clogged with big sport/utility vehicles and pickup trucks, while the Hummer’s 72-inch track will barely fit in a single traffic lane. The Smart is a practical package, but limit your passengers to two unless someone wants to ride in the cargo area. (Shades of the Beetle “back-back” of old?) H1, for all its monstrous footprint, still seats only four, but you could probably carry a small rowboat or a canoe down the center space between the seats. As much as the two vehicles differ in proportion and practicality, the pair share one undeniable core attribute: curb appeal. Drive the nearly four-ton Hummer—with its diamond-plate accents and oversized 37-inch tires—down any road in America and you will turn more than a few heads. Want to turn even more? Drive the same streets in the bug-like ForTwo—with the top rolled back for extra effect if you think you need it. You won’t. You will feel the most pronounced difference when you roll up to the neighborhood diesel fuel pump. While the H1 gulps down 29.5 gallons in its main tank (and another 22 gallons in the reserve), the ForTwo’s total capacity (including a 1.3-gallon reserve tank) is a mere 7.1 gallons. There’s a difference you can take to the bank. (AutoWeek)

Oldmobile Concepts
68, great collection of Olds concepts!....what is the name of the one at the top?.....very nice one. And the under appreciated Achieva. I especially liked that car in the coupe. I almost never see them around.

Idea for a Chevy ad
Very inventive. Or better yet, tell them it's a new model from Japan and then see what comments they come up with and then reveal the true identity.

I wanna come, but I'm too far away...

2006 Pontiac Solstice
First I will say I have always liked Miatas and have driven them extensively. But, the front and hood on this new one leaves me cold. The headlights harken back to dated Japanese car show design and the hood's cutline is bad, it's too obvious. Like it's saying, "here's my hood cutline".

Oldmobile Concepts
...I think it has the same spirit about it like the Sky. And I just noticed for the first time the cutlines for a rear door opening. I keep learning stuff all on my own lol.

2007 Saturn Aura
crap, you are right, I had overlooked that. Here I always thought the Aura had them first. And for the record, they have to be one of my favorite wheels of all time.

Oldmobile Concepts
...you know knightfan you have a good eye....it has some similar elements... I think the 04 is correct too Oldsmoboi. Flybrian, just read your post...that is facinating info. Thanks for that. Ok..it's the 2001 GM 04. Very sad footnote to Olds. Damn, now I'm all sad.

Oddball File
Now this car is facinating, by day a hot exotic, by night a bedroom on wheels. The raised section is the room for the bed part. Outrageous. [

Real world pics of the Pontiac Pursuit Coupe
I agree, the Pursuit and G6 coupes look like brothers...and they need this car in their dealerships. In Canada GM dealerships are combined. When you have a Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealership, they need this type of car to compete properly.

I Am An Olds Fan
O man, razoredge, I know the feeling!.....there's so much to love, I need a warehouse for all the incredible GM models over the years. But that '57 Olds 98, just makes me weak. It's so sexy American to me..I can't explain it.
