GM Says can survive March without new Gov't money
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090312/bs_nm/us_gm_funding_2 Hopefully this is the start of some good news. Unfortunately saving money by cutting programs (diesel for pickups) isn't going to help in the long term.

GM scrubs 4.5 duramax?
Yeah, that's what they said about Zeta too originally. My faith in GM is waning quickly. I know several who were 'holding out' purchase of a truck waiting for the diesel.

GM has more troubles than you think
Yeah, that pretty much jaded me to the rest of the article too.

1978 Cadillac Eldorado with power T-tops on eBay
Cool! I think I would actually like that, even if it is yellow.

GM scrubs 4.5 duramax?
I just read the same elsewhere. Not good at all. This would have been a great for their pickups...

If GM ceases to exist, what will your next vehicle be?
If it 'had' to be new and GM wasn't building? Ford product most likely, probably Lincoln. Or a European make, BMW, VW/Audi... something like that. I'd probably stick with a 'gently used' GM though. If GM goes under completely, low mile used GM's will be dirt cheap and could keep me going for more than a few years.

LeftLane News: Cadillac DT7 Flagship Sedan To Be Based On FWD Platform.
I completely agree. Not everyone lives in the snow belt either. On the RARE occasion when I truly need AWD, I go get the truck out of the barn and throw it in 4WD. Should AWD be available? Absolutely. Should AWD be standard? Absolutely NOT! This isn't the SUV/Crossover market, it's the sedan market.

LeftLane News: Cadillac DT7 Flagship Sedan To Be Based On FWD Platform.
With the death of Zeta, we kind of knew the STS/DTS replacement wouldn't end up rear drive. Quite sad. There are only two reasons I'm considering an STS over a DTS and one of those is because it's not rear drive. I have no need for AWD, just reduces gas mileage from my perspective. Though I understand there are those who desire (and to a lesser degree need) the AWD capabilities. Guess I need to get my order in before they kill off the STS. If Caddy goes FWD/AWD at least I'll have a reason to look at Lincoln again.... sigh....

ocn's former employer goes belly up
Oh my! I always enjoyed looking at all the shiny GM's when driving by on my way to Ocean City (MD) Very sad to see such a large dealer closing. Typically the larger dealerships are the ones able to weather tough economies better than smaller ones. Scary.

Official: Saturn is Dead, Pontiac is a Ghost
I've been pondering a lineup for B-P-G based on Saturn going away and Pontiac becoming 'niche'. My two cents worth: Buick: Regal (or some other named, Opel based "entry" model, basically a reworked Aura with a content/price point starting just above the Malibu LTZ) LaCrosse Lucerne (though it needs some updating) Enclave Pontiac: G6 (coupe and convertible ONLY) Solstice G8 GMC: (not a market of interest to me so I'm not to sure here) Acadia (priced and content below Enclave but above the Traverse) Yukon Sierra Canyon Hummer (make the H3/H3t just a Hummer, sell as a premium offroad model under GMC, maybe not doable but a way to keep the brand alive as a niche product) Hardly perfect I'm sure but my ponderings none the less.

The e-mail video that General Motors Corp. sent to its Saturn dealers last night was an odd mix of apology and pep rally.
Well, at least they're consistent.
