  1. The Tigra is not dead yet, it is still manufactured in France by coachbuilder Heuliez.
  2. But they haven't announced that. :AH-HA_wink: And anyway, where would you look? It could be inside the door, or the roof lining …
  3. There are parts of texas where the limit has been raised ti 85. You could always say "But officer, it only does 85! See?".
  4. I'm kidding of course.
  5. One of the assembly workers lost a $250,000,000 winning lottery ticket.
  6. "We're not going to Detroit because they're all too poor to buy Porsches, and we never get any press for not introducing anything."
  7. The question is perceived value for money, and whether the 9-3 is expensive enough to reduce the relative cost burden incurred for US compliance. VWs are a bad comparison, since they use an older cheaper direct injection technology rather than common-rail (usually only found on larger, more expensive Audi engines).
  8. The Versa is a cheap compact, the US-market equivalent of an Astra Classic, not even remotely the same segment as the Corsa, Accent, xD et al.
  9. The Optra has a 4-speed ZF auto built by Daewoo, not an Aisin. Toyota does have an equity tie-up with Aisin Seiki, parent company of Aisin AW (Aisin Warner) and Aisin AZ (manual transimssions), but sometimes uses it's own in-house transmissions. Aisin is the dominant supplier of fwd auto transmissions to European automakers, including Ford, Opel and Saab. 5-speed fwd autos used by GM and related 6-speed autos used by Opel and Saab are supplied by Aisin. GM is of course gradually dumping the Aisin transmissions and the old Hydra-matic 4-speeds for its own new-generation 6-speed autos, including a new model being built by GM Daewoo.
  10. For those who don't know what we're talking about: http://auto-report.net/WordPress/?p=237 The H45 Renault Koleos, developed and to be built by Renault Samsung in Korea, using the platform of the new Nissan Rogue and X-Trail.
  11. Same thing really. They even showed the same concept with a slightly different nose I think.
  12. Well spotted. It's the Renault Koleos. The fact that it's not that much bigger than the Qashqai (about as big as the new Outlander, Santa Fe and CX-7) should have been a big clue.
  13. A Schizophrenic break with reality most likely. Probably as a result of being called Allison. That's as bad as a boy named Sue. At least Jody and Kimberley and Beverley are supposed to be boy's names (if almost completely expropriated by the fairer sex).
  14. 112+ mph in a 1.4 L c90 hp Opel Corsa, more than I decided was prudent on a road that was not a flat as it appeared at lower speeds. At another time maybe 120 on a short downhill sectionl. And I averaged better than 34 mpg on those trips.
  15. Well you have to expect a twisted sense of style from someone who'd buy a Sebring.
  16. Yes. This is smaller than a Cobalt after all, and the lower weight helps. Most vehicles in this class have a 1.4 or 1.6 L engine, 90—117 hp. Top performance models such as the OPC have between 175--197 hp. This sits nicely in between. The old GSi had a 122 hp 1.8 L engine.
  17. Ahh, no the Suzuki is a rebadged Optra.
  18. Huh? What's with the trunklid not matching the rear quarter panels. Looks like it comes from another car.
  19. You'll have to hurry if ypu want a GXP though, it goes away at the end of the year.
  20. Odd that Toyota's first really competitive B-segment hatch (the Scion xD) should abandon the entry level by opting for a larger 1.8 L engine instead of the more frugal 1.5 or the new 1.6 L Dual-VVT; and is not offered in any market where similar-sized subcompact hatches make up a major market sector. It's like they are looking for an excuse for doing so badly in the Yaris's price class: "It sells well compared other vehicles its size. Just don't mention that we charge as much the next segment up, OK?"
  21. Which ones? GM already has the Aveo in the US, the first major manufacture to offer a competitive subcompact (after Kia and Hyundai). Nissan doesn't have one (anywhere, except for the Cube and Note MPVs, and the latter is almost a compact hatch—the Versa is a compact, with a higher price and larger engine to match), Toyota was even later with the Yaris sedan (the swb hatch is still too small to count), Honda was so late with the Fit a new one is already overdue, Misubishi doesn't offer one in North America (despite having the Colt everywhere else), nor does Chrysler, Ford (which has a hatch and two different Fiesta sedans elsewhere). VW (it has two different Polo sedans, plus the Polo and Fox hatchbacks), Subaru, or Mazda (which had two in Japan). Suzuki is still trying to pretend the Aerio/SX4 is a compact by offering a big engine and increasing the overall length (but not the wheelbase).
  22. Well Honda changed their minds at the last minute (right at the end of the model cycle), so who knows, if the demand is there GM may as well.
  23. There are usually exemptions for registered breeders. Any animal you adopt from pound will usually be spayed anyway, the intention is to reduce the numbers of feral/stray dogs and cats, which can be an urban nuisance and an ecological and agricultural menace.
