Dilemma - wait or try now?
The Avalanche is a very different animal than your typical pickup, and I like everything about it for that reason. Sad to see them go away, after having 2 in the family. The new pickups will offer a lot of nice new things, but not in a huge jump forward. Changed but not "wow new", in my opinion. I wish the Avalanche would get updated with them, but either way would recommend the current Av regardless. All comes down to what you want and would like to do. If the Avalanche lease was attractive, that would be a great way. If not, probably better to wait until you actually experience and drive the new pickups as well, and see what you think back to back.

APRIL 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!
Or that the Denali version of a Yukon is only a few dollars more than a loaded SLT Yukon, but offers considerably more. Pricing has gone way up on these over the years.

That superior Honda Engineering.
This is odd. Having worked with Acura (and therein Honda) for over 2 years now in the dealer end, I can count on one hand the number of common things I've seen. Transmission issues? Yes in older 5-speed models. A few rattles and cheap speakers that blow out without much effort? Check. But otherwise...even with a lot of miles...not much like valve adjustment, etc. One of my clients with a 1999 CL and the 3.0L with 206k miles just traded on Saturday. Few wear spots like a broken center console lid, but started, ran, and drove NEW. Tight and silent. It's almost weird sometimes how well together the cars seem. Drew, was this the CR-V? Any other years over the years? Some common issues, yes. Otherwise not much of anything. Good luck with clean up and sale.

Silver Tesla model S sedan rolling down the highway amongst other bland stuff, as I walked out of work.

APRIL 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!
Final 500 2002 Olds Intrigue, in the unique Dark Cherry color with chrome Aurora wheels and badging. SPOTLESS, cruising along at slower speed. Great looking sedan, and even more so when a properly maintained limited edition model. Have not seen one of these for many, many years.

APRIL 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely wood trim, but thinly placed. Not like the Malibu where fake wood even makes up half of the steering wheel base on some models. Nicely trimmed, nicely upholstered and looks rich.

APRIL 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!
Out driving this afternoon, a newly arrived Ashen Gray 2014 Impala 2LT. These look best in person on real surfaces, and are huge. Back seat included. Now if only the Malibu had received even a portion of the attention this car did. Cool car.

When to say no
This is such a strange thing. When fixed 100% like the '96 I had, no worries. Other times...it's hit or miss. Hence both of my father's current ones with continual issues. But that's also because he spends $$$ to fix things 85-90% and then complains. Tough otherwise, and nothing like a Subie.

When to say no
My father has had this done once or twice now in the '96 and '00, and both are still having issues. I should have given him the '96 I had where they were all fixed perfectly and then some. Subaru annoyance, but alas. More a pain.

2013 Dodge Journey SXT AWD
Mid size V6 crossovers, when geared and powered correctly, get VERY good mileage. Usually even better than the so called "more efficient" turbo 4-cyl varieties. The new RDX is a great example, as are the GM twins when V6 equipped, though an even more efficient 6-spd would help them further.

APRIL 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!
Their F-650 Ford super duper duty limo high top is another crazy: And more: http://www.alibabalimo.com/ The only one I see frequently out & about is the Porsche Cayenne. They just got the Panamera and its a 2013. Also the older red Ferrari I used to see, but it's been tucked away for a while. Anyone want to gather up $1500 and go for a ride?

APRIL 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!
Given that most vehicles now are unibody, except for the scant few Escalades and such used, works the same as otherwise. Just more bracing, etc. and all together as one section instead of two. Still defies logic, but interesting.

Item: Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4
Strange with the battery. Any particular brand or oddity? Such oddities were always my excuse for not owning something like my '95 Fleetwood, even if it never did do a damn thing wrong, suspension and A/C aside (though I swear I almost fixed the A/C myself the last go around myself. Jeeps are cool, and this generation '99-04 still seemed higher quality than the following generic Tupperware iteration. My parents neighbors had a decently troubled '99 Limited that had to be towed from the garage a couple of times with age, but they still traded & bought another fully loaded (and gorgeous) new '04 Limited with the H.O. 4.7L they still have to today and it never seems to age visually.

APRIL 2013 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!
White Panamera limo out front of Ali Baba limo's here in Manayunk. Too cool, and parked out front a lot recently. Why not. Notice the double decker high top H2 limo behind it, that also has a pool in the back. These cars are insanity.

2013 Dodge Journey SXT AWD
Cool. These have become much more interesting since the complete interior remake, and 3.6L. This reminds me I need to do a review of an RDX too... Interested to hear your thoughts on the Journey overall.

Terrain Part II
Little over a month in, I was home this past weekend. Nothing new. Still has wheels, success. Asked if they see any differences. Nothing regarding fuel. She doesn't feel a power difference, "maybe a little but no", and my brother thinks it shifts strangely. Not really, just it has more torque and stronger powerband, so instead of holding on to each gear longer shifts through them and up more effectively. Otherwise, it's a Terrain. Oh and the IntelliLink radio is very nice. Much nicer improvement over the last.

General fuel economy question
The old one wasn't either... but that one was almost always wrong. This one gets it right sometimes, but a lot of it you can blame on the manufacturers playing games. This is very true. The old system was further out of wack, and ratings too high. Some got it, but it was rare. The newer system is much closer. It really does vary widely depending on the car, especially those regular gas vehicles with "stretched" ratings like the 32mpg 4-cyl Equinox/Terrain, which can be done but not with most drivers. GM's tend to do close, as do others. I've always done well and over & beyond with most Honda/Acura 4-cyl and V6 cars especially, without trying. They are an example of better than ratings without going crazy, in many regards. Hybrids and things like the aforementioned GM small utes, among SO MANY other's with halo mpg claims that all marketing and otherwise are focused on, are toughest to duplicate in reality it seems.

Back again...GS style this time
Beauty of a company car, that will be replaced again tomorrow. When you don't have daily use commute miles, they don't add up quickly. Soon, thinking some kind of a road trip, and absolutely in the GS.

CMax...well, at least it's more interesting than Camry circling the ring... As awkward and weird as it may be.

Ocn Tests The Waters
Awesome car and shots, the black sets it off perfectly. Glad to see they did a nice wheel design for the TDI, even without a lot of other fluff options. 51mpg, no sweat. How much is diesel running nowadays anyway? Been a while since I've even looked at what I spend on premium...

Need some advice on how to compensate for "free" service
Good move. The gift card sounds nice too, can go whenever.
