  1. Hello Everyone: I miss many of you guys, and I finally decided to drop by and reconnect with the forum. I'm still alive and passionate about cars as ever. Still own the 1959 Buick, though the Nailhead is still not reassembled & the car's been off the road for two years now. I've got 214,800 miles on the Mercedes Benz 500SEC and am currently doing a lot of small fixes to that car & Julie (my wife) is still racking up miles on her 1988 BMW 735iL. My two daughters are both well, though Sofia (turned 6 in January) spends only a couple days a week with us & lives with my ex. Amelia is 17 months old now and she's got quite the personality. I've gotten back into model building and she is obsessed with planes, perhaps as a result but in any case she's living up to her namesake's obsession with flying. So that's it for now... for those interested you can practically stalk me through my "Flickr" account & see thousands of my photos: http://www.flickr.co...s/cadillac_v16/ G'night =)
  2. I happened up on this earlier and upon seeing that they have a several gorgeous & historically relevant American cars I looked through the entire collection and almost became sick to my stomach! Roosevelt;'s '39 Packard Twin-6 phaeton??? '31 Cadillac V-16??? '29 Duesenberg Model-J??? (misslabeled BTW) http://www.tilt-rotor.com/2004/JapnTrip/Toyota/TAM.htm Is there no end to Toyota's desicration?! For the record there are about 25 cars I'd KILL to have!
  3. just in case the ad is about to expire:
  4. I'd like to kick this person square in the testicles... but I suspect he lacks any, even though his driver's license says "M" under sex. http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/1306078512.html
  5. YUP. I love Franklin. Only seen a few in person but they have all fascinated & impressed me.
  6. The Duramax stole the thunder of this thread. Congrats to your wife. What do your sons think of it? Anyway FWD aside (hate those proportions) it's a handsome car. I too love the Deep Red metallic.
  7. In Vegas you can rent a Porsche 550 Spyder kit car, Lotus Elise, Mini Cooper Convertible, Dodge Viper (all with manual transmissions of course) or even a Lamborghini, those are certainly not $hitboxes. Well.... a Lamborghini w/out paper cutter doors is pretty., errr... *bites tongue* Took the words right outta my mouth.
  8. I've always respected the Grand Cherokee... it's a lot like my '84 Mercedes Benz in that it is the opposite of a typical unibody tin can because it's essentially a BOF with the frame welded & stamped into the floors & rockers. Go look under a Honda or Toyota SUV & compare it to a Jeep. I'd be willing to bet this alone would steal away many sales away from the Ridgeline, Highlander etc. Not that the typical retard buying a Toyopet cares about structural integrity or durability. They seem to be more concerned with the color selection & the consumer reports that they have shoved up their @$$.
  9. Thank You for posting this BigPontiac... Last night I was watching the Military Chanel OnDemand, they had the GREAT PLANES episode about the B-25, including many interesting footnotes about the Doolittle Raid. Yup... she was at the Lawrence Airport last Sunday, less than a week after I was told by the Airport Staff that sure enough, as the website listed, Aluminum Overcast was not going to be visiting this year. You'd think the genius would have said: "Errr... but one of the other 13 airworthy B-17s in the world WILL be here this Saturday & Sunday"
  10. ANOTHER HINT: just like Hitler's KdF & Tatra's V8s, it lacked an H20 pump.
  11. Congrats on the '09 Malibu. & Conversely sorry about your Ford. The stupidity of modern engineering at all but BMW has deemed the V6 more practical & safe than the inline or slant 6. That's my favorite thing about your truck... & all like it. All six of those 50-cubic inch cylinders & pistons aligned in a long block, in a straight line with plenty of access on both sides for maintenance. --- I was keeping my fingers crossed for a Pontiac G8-GT for your wife. Now THERE's a future classic.
  12. My buddy Duffy (who turned me on to 59 Buicks, 59/60 Dodges & many other unique classics) has said for years that of the few modern Japanese cars he likes (single digits) the 300ZX is his all time favorite. I too think they're sharp. A friend of a friend bought one two years ago.. a TWIN TURBO at that. I'd rather have a Porsche 911 or the 1st gen. BMW M5 from the 1980s, they're not much more expensive in terms of picking up a used one these days & certainly in terms of maintenance.
  13. Some unique features of cars produced by this brand: Our "Twin-Six" featured a pushrod design with the pushrods on the outside of the block/heads & a camshaft for each cylinder bank. We were amongst the very first to use a DOWN-draft carb. We rebadged a "REO Flying Cloud" with a different hood grille & air-cooled motor.
  14. My 500-SEC recently got a tune-up, new alternator & an exhaust hanger. Just clicked over to 208,888 miles yesterday.
  15. LoL @ Oldsmoboi The gremlin's rear side windows COULD have been made to retract in a tumble fashion, into the fat, triangular C-pillar... IF AMC had, you know, wanted to stay in business by building exciting products. Relax... I'm mostly J/K
  16. It's enjoyable when we make typos that are humorously misleading. --- So I just looked over the rest of the thread... You've been a buzzzy little Bee huh? Congrats on all that progress. It's nice to see you gain 0.8 liters, durability & longevity out of your motor swap that was really driven (deep down) by your need for speed. Since you got about 200K out of the ill-fated 2.7 you should get twice that out of the superior 3.5 if you continue all the proper maintenance.
  17. The Mercedes Benz has a sock exhaust too.
  18. Look at the red sign above the molested deVille.... it says: "WELCOME TO RONDO WORLD!" As if the Rondo was some elegant flagship to be proud of
  19. "Rondo World" ??? I'm speechless. FIXED
  20. The cash for clunkers stupidity is also adding to the stigmata of the USA being full of wasteful, consumerist-on-crack, fat, lazy irresponsible dolts. It def. does portray us as wasteful and borderline idiotic.
  21. Or, like the Storrow Drive in Boston*, build overhead walkways for pedestrians! * not that Boston or Massachusetts is a model for logic or simplicity.
  22. Speaking of pre-war Plymouths: This one attends a local cruise night every week. It's a very original '35 (1st year of the all steel body) Powered by a Tunned Port 350 & 700R4 borrowed from a totaled Camaro. The gentleman spent 10 years building it and it shows. it also has bucket seats, P.S. pump/rack & brakes from the Camaro.
  23. That '69 Rambler is very handsome & clean. As far as that Renault Avantime.... i"ll thank you to NEVER post that hideous, grotesque bastardized botched Prius abortion again! That car is reason enough for Germany to invade France a 3rd time.
  24. Careful what you wish for(!!!) I'll take a human cop over some lame piece of computerized junk. Have you ever been to the RMV/DMV? or to a city hall? What in the world would make you think the Government would go out of its way to save you the trouble of a resource-wasting process of a possible court appearance?
  25. I've talked to a few nerds who say the "carbon footprint" of producing a Toyota Prius is prob. enough to make it environmentally UNfriendly as compared to just buying a clean, cheap, used Focus, Altima, PT cruiser, Civic, Golf....
