BACON EXPLOSION
So it's bacon... wrapped in sausage... wrapped in bacon. I may have to buy me some bacon.

Pontiac G8 to be Sold in Australia
Uh... How about put Pontiac G8s in Chevy dealerships (with no changes whatsoever) until the parts run out? Lots of thoughts on this, but they are all over the place. So, no further comment.

Crapiest modern car you've driven...
Thanks. Yeah, it was only 3 years old and the GP's depreciated value made it a steal. I miss the Cobalt, but I needed to move to something with a more accessible back seat.

You know, instead of ruining the engine, why not disassemble the car and sell the parts to people who still care about their cars? /Captain Obvious

Crapiest modern car you've driven...
Eh, my current car is a Grand Prix. I liked it enough on the test drive to go forward with it. Now, out of all the cars that I've driven that were made since I was born (this is how I'm going to interpret modern for the purpose of this thread), I have to say my least favorite (to actually drive) was the 85 Seville. My main complaint: the steering had what felt like a 30 degree dead zone. For general crappiness, I'll go with the Venture. It ties with the Achieva for overall feel, reliability, and performance, but takes the #1 spot for... A. Being a van instead of a car. B. Being a U-Body van. PS: Incidentally, both the Achieva and the Venture have gone to the great junkyard in the sky. The Achieva for an engine fire, the Venture for frame rot.

MOTHERF****R!! Did the previous owner even realize what the hell he was doing to this car by trading it in like this? WHY AM I PAYING FOR THIS!?

PEANUT BUTTER
I prefer crunchy, but as long as it's natural I don't really care.

The G6 gets a window tint job...
Looks good. For the bolded reasons, I may have to consider doing this myself.

That's just downright nutty.- Some Spare Parts for Flybrian
This thread needs more Flybrian.- Word Association
James LaBrie (this guy)- '84 Seville
My father-in-law still drives my old one around town. This one looks to be in far better shape, though.- Word Association
Desert. Edit: ... Apparently it's been a while since I last read this thread . Okay let's try that again. Trail.- No fond farewell for Pontiac
Just as I feared. There really is no more automotive enthusiasm at General Motors.- Unimaginable cruelty
My response to this is a rhetorical question: Have you ever swatted a fly? Her sentence for this crime is apt, but I hope that she can be healed before it's too late.- Scanner Question
I don't think he means 50 ppm. I think he means 50 pages at a time. I imagine it can probably be much slower than that.- Dan Neil: Genesis coupe is more primitive than prim
For the Topic (have I abused my editing rights?): Hyundai gets a B for effort (making a second coupe, more than certain brands have at this point), but a D- for styling. Normally I would say what it is I don't like about a car's styling, but in this case there are far too many oddities to choose from. I don't have time to write an epic post.- Dan Neil: Genesis coupe is more primitive than prim
If it was me, it's because I didn't zoom out far enough. Plus, even if I know the route well, I like to keep my GPS hooked up for the sake of tracking the ETA in fluctuating traffic conditions. And because I want to know what the side streets look like in case I need to make an emergency exit. And for more silly reasons, such as if I'm approaching the end of a trip but am starting to get tired; it becomes one of many psychological tools to keep me alert in such situations. Edit: I feel I should clarify: I only use the GPS for unfamiliar routes and/or long trips.- What's your favorite military plane or jet?
Evidently there are only 20 of them in service. There used to be 21.- Google Chrome Operating System
Apparently, the draw for Google Chrome OS is going to be the same or similar to what Palm did with the Pre: the development platform is going to be based on web development technologies. Native Win/GTK/Qt/Cocoa(?) application programmers may scoff, but this sort of thing would be right up my alley. It may not run iTunes at all, unless Google can somehow seamlessly integrate wine, but perhaps Apple -- for their own reasons -- will launch an online edition of iTunes. I know how hard it's been to crack the Windows monopoly, but the web has been making it easier. Edit: Wine would be better than nothing, but not quite up to par with Windows in the case of iTunes.- Oracle can die and burn in hell
This is just the FOSS freeloader in me speaking, but have you seen whether MySQL-- Wait, Oracle owns Sun now, who owns the rights to MySQL, never mind. Let me start over. Have you seen whether PostgreSQL is any good for large databases?- Exit Package for Wagoner in Works
$1 a year... Wait a minute, that's below minimum wage! What's that, like 6 minutes worth?- Google Chrome Operating System
Google will make it accessible. They are pretty good at doing things like that. I'll have to check it out via Virtual Machine when it's released. Google's Chrome OS could eclipse Ubuntu simply by use of its household brand name, combined with the exposure they can give it at www.google.com (hint: look how quickly Google Chrome established itself).- Did any one notice it today?
