  1. I think Daewoo is the great hope of GM.
  2. I think Chrysler's 1978 Omni/Horizon was its milestone small American car more than the Neon. It debuted several years before GM and Ford introduced their own American built modern small FWD cars (the 1981 Escort and 1982 J cars). The Omni/Horizon kept many dealers in business in those dark years of 1979 and 1980 before the K cars debuted for 1981. When they debuted, Ford still had the Pinto/Bobcat (the Fiesta came from Europe), AMC had the Gremlin, and GM still had the Chevette and Monza/Sunbird/Skyhawk/Firenza (the Vega had already been dropped).
  3. I agree with everything buyacargetacheck said. I am unenenthusiastic about Fiats being sold in the US.
  4. I found the following article very insightful - http://www.christonium.com/automotive/ItemID=12347179104179
  5. It wouldn't surprise me if what rises from the ashes is the Chevrolet Motor Corporation with a Korean or Mexican built Aveo and Cruze, the Silverado and Suburban, and a crossover or two.
  6. I hope Chrysler survives in some form to produce these interesting engines.
  7. Opel would be called Buick in China and the U.S. and be called Holden in Australia. Same products, different names. I predict by 2015 Cadillac will be only Epsilon II DTS, Lambda Escalade, TE SRX, and hopefully Alpha CTS. (Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Lexus will probably be forced to reduce their lineups substantially by then also.)
  8. I have a feeling that your TRX and LTS will actually be the next Escalade and DTS. I predict that by 2014 Cadillac's lineup will be TE SRX, Epsilon II DTS, Lambda Escalade, and hopefully Alpha CTS. For those who complain Cadillac can't compete with BMW and Mercedes with this, well I won't be surprised if the economic slump and European emission control standards force BMW and Mercedes to slash their offerings. I've already read that BMW may drop its V8 and replace it with turbo six cylinder engines. I think Buick will stay in the US only because dropping it will harm its image in China.
  9. This fellow has a lot of other interesting road tests on his You Tube site - a 1969 Impala with a 396 2 bbl (0 to 60 in 13.7 seconds), a 1969 LTD with a 428, a 1973 Cutlass 455, a 1971 Cutlass 442 with 455, and many others.
  10. Hyundai never should have built that plant in Alabama.

  12. Maybe our elders were smarter than we are. I wish station wagons would come back.
  13. Miami Beach is my favorite place on earth. I grew up in Asheville, NC but the mountains really don't do anything for me.

    I look similar to you.
  15. Based upon this article which most here have probably already read - http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...ANA03/812150341 - I think there is a 45 percent chance the G8 will be the one surviving Pontiac, a 45 percent chance that the Vibe will be the one surviving Pontiac; and a 10 percent chance that G6 coupe and convertible would be the surviving Pontiacs. I don't know what Holden's plans are for the future of the Commodore.
  16. I found this blog several months ago and enjoy all the articles. For someone like me unable to watch the hearings, I found this article on yesterday's hearing very interesting - http://www.christonium.com/automotive/ItemID=12284939913205
  17. I think GM can do OK with just Cadillac and Chevrolet. There won't be that big of a gap between a high end V6 Malibu and a low end Cadillac Alpha. But I think Buick will survive. The Enclave proves that Buick can still sell expensive cars. Pontiac hasn't done well with an expensive cars in years. GM doesn't need 3 low cost brands (Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn).
  18. A fellow on GMI named Docray1, who is knowledgeable about Cadillac, says that GM is actually studying an Epsilon II replacement for the DTS.
  19. Chevrolet and Cadillac are enough. The general public could care less about the other brands.

Not as good as Casino Royale (the best Bond films are always based upon Ian Fleming's novels, and there aren't any left to use), but a little better than the Brosnan Bonds.
  21. I am sorry about your loss. I lost my father in 1995, and I still miss him.
  22. McCain lost my vote because he stopped being the McCain of 2000 and embraced the Bush tax cuts and the Iraq War. I wouldn't vote for him even if he had picked Tom Ridge as his running mate.
  23. I think that the article just says that GM discontinued development of an all new Suburban. The Suburban stayed on the same platform from 1973 to 1991. I predict the Suburban will remain on its current platform for many years to come, perhaps through at least 2020.
