  1. Rideshare and rural America DO NOT MIX well. Save it for the big cities and leave it to those who actually have to maintain the cars. GM does not need Maven. Uber and Lyft need to have its contractors classified as employees.
  2. GM does not understand ridesharing like Uber and Lyft. Then again, GM had no idea whether ridesharing would lift off or be a dud. I understand why Maven was set up. Then again, it would not surprise me if Maven disappears within 18-24 months.
  3. Good thing Apple did NOT get Tesla then. Big winner: Elon Musk. Loser: Tesla shareholders. Again. Now this.
  4. Tesla stock doing the limbo. How low can it go before it falls on its butt.
  5. Depends on how old the car (and its engine) is. Cars from 20+ years ago require changing oil every 3000 miles. I suspect a lot of newer cars probably need the oil changed more often than the scheduled 5000-7500 miles because of engine wear.
  6. IF GM were successful in selling RenCen, where would they move the HQ to? Or would it be a sale and leaseback?
  7. Bottom? If Tesla's price were south of $100/share, then it has reached bottom. Then again, Elon Musk should take it private at that point, not at $230/share.
  8. Wow. Sounds great. It is all in the execution though, so good luck with that.
  9. Mercedes has 30 models?! Wow, they really need to cull that herd to at least 15, and ideally 10-12 models. GM had too many brands with the same cars in each brand prior to BK. This situation is almost as ridiculous.
  10. What year and model is that Cadillac?
  11. I agree that there should be some significant price distance between Buick and Cadillac. Cadillac will probably need to get more expensive for that to truly work. Ideally, Cadillac would raise prices on all its vehicles by about $5000 AND Buick would trim prices by $2000 just so that each can have its own space in the marketplace.
  12. Equally important is that rideshares are not practical in a lot of small towns and rural America more generally. I have no need for a rideshare, but I do feel sorry for those who live in the middle of nowhere without a CAR of their own.
  13. So what would you name the XT4, XT5 and XT6? How would you most improve the CT6, as well as the CT5 and CT4?
  14. Cadillac needs a real leader and a real unique selling point STAT. Who will be the former and provide the latter?
  15. By that (Escalade) standard, the XT6 might be too small and the CT4 is clearly not on-brand. Gotta address that. Ultimately, it all comes down to a unique selling point. What does Cadillac have that NONE of the other luxury makes have?
  16. Remember when the Fremont plant was a GM plant? Now it is owned by Tesla. A question: why can't the Lordstown plant be used to make those solid state battery EVs?
  17. You know, maybe Cadillac's problem is GM itself. Too bad there is no 35 or 40 year old car genius that could save Cadillac from GM's worst instincts. Mary Barra has done a great job from a financial POV but the products that would drive the Germans, the Japanese, the Koreans (and soon the Chinese) out of the American automotive marketplace simply are not there. Prior to the original Chevrolet Vega, each division had leaders and engineers bent on outpacing the other divisions (and Ford and Chrysler) to be the best. Now, there are no leaders in the remaining divisions that WANT to outsell and outpace everyone else anymore. Nowhere in the history of business does mediocre management lead to greatness. Cadillac needs great leadership a lot more than Chevy, Buick or GMC. Any ideas on how to solve that issue?
  18. People want to buy a Buick Verano? I know Buick is essentially a CUV brand these days, but I never saw a market for the Verano. The 2nd Gen LaCrosse maybe, but not the Verano (or the Cascada for that matter).
  19. Maybe Mary Barra can just fire all the marketers in GM and outsource it to those who know what they are doing. Cadillac would be a great place to start that revolution.
  20. OK Why does Cadillac need near-luxury buyers when GM just shut down an entire plant that made a near-luxury sedan?
  21. Maybe Cadillac should cut production by 50% in order to fix the depreciation issues.
  22. I thought Honda/Acura has only ONE platform for virtually all their vehicles. What efficiencies can they find?
  23. I do hope that GM makes the sale. The new guys can tell the UAW to shove it.
  24. A luxury car should have a real usable trunk, Cadillac especially. Why are they pushing us towards an XT5 or an XT6? Cadillac for YEARS had big trunks so that you could take your clubs to the golf course. And have enough space for five sets of clubs! That tiny trunk belongs to a Smart FourTwo, NOT A CADILLAC.
