Done Deal 17.4% share sold, GM rases 2 Billion
I think that profits from GMAC going foward will not be as good as know. Still I think this sale was good. Not that I know what I am talking about.

Lutz Warns of Hazards in Global Industry
Using the data you so kindly provided, and defining a small business as less than 100 employees rather than 500, then 55 billion are employed in large organiations and only 51 billion in small organization. I made no claim as to fortune 500 companies and indeed have no opinion on them per se.

Lutz Warns of Hazards in Global Industry
I guess it depends on your definition. Most of us would argue with the government's definition. That data is based on the definition of a small business being one of 499 employees or less. Not very small in my way of thinking.

Lots of depressing news
Actually the Southeast sales district is Toyota's most profitable by a whole bunch. So its not us prissy west coasters, but rather the red necks that are to blame (if there were any thing to blame any ONE about).

Zero Pe%cent Financing
I got 0% from GM just a couple of weeks ago. They even included the overpriced extended warranty on the 0% loan.

Chryslers pile up
I have had expereince with three chrysler corporation cars in recent years (6 cyl 300, PT cruiser, and Sebring) and their just not competative with GM. Internal meetings at Chryusler have been stormy this last month.

Done Deal 17.4% share sold, GM rases 2 Billion
Can I borrow 5 million until payday? Seriously making 3/4 of billion dollars is a lot better than loosing a few billion on Fiat.

Lots of depressing news
Good comment. Only part of my post was to vent, the other part was to start a discussion of the effect of sales on the number of sales outlets, and the number of sales outlets effect on sales. A viscious circle.

Lots of depressing news
The local newspaper/rag (The Pasadena Star News) ran an article on Saturn of Whittier and they rebuilt their showroom, etc. There sales were up almost 100% last year. They own the B-P-GMC dealer across the street which has been there a hundred years (kidding). I don't think they will be moving, but yes La Puente seems to be a commer.

Lots of depressing news
No their main dealership is in MY town. How possesive of me. In Pasadena they sell Rools, Bentley, Jaguar, Mercedes, Volvo, and of course the Chrysler dealership. If you watch the Rose Parade on New Year's DAy they are located right around that bend/corner in the street that the floats seem to have so much trouble negotiating.

Lots of depressing news
I live in Pasadena, CA which is a city to the northeast of down town Los Angels. It's about 8 miles to downtown LA. Yesterday I got a postcard from my Saturn dealer. They are closing both of their Saturn dealerships, one in Monrovia (one town East of here) and the other in Alhambra (2 towns southwest of me and bordering on Los Angeles.) Now the closest Saturn dealer is 26 miles away in Whittier. In last weeks Pasadena newspaper, the local Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealer announced that they were no longer selling these products. The nearest next two dealers are 25 min. away. The first Saturn dealer will be selling Mazda, the second Saturn dealer (owned by the same people) will be selling Acurar, and the Chrysler dealer will be selling a European import which I assume is BMW from their other holdings in and out of town. These changes will certainly make buying Domestic a more difficult choice.

Ford swipes at GM's troubles
Bankruptcy would mean that every holder of common stock, and most likely all prefered stock holders, would loose their investments.

Zero Pe%cent Financing
My daughter and I bought a new Saturn ION a couple of weekends ago and got 0% financing. By the way she loves the car no big deal. By the way she seems to be so much better of a driver because of the center mounted instruements. This is a big deal.

Market Share & Sales (everything you want to know)
I was watching the 11 OP clock news a couple of nights ago. There had been a moderate rain during the day. They showed a mini on a flat bed truck and were interviewing the tow truck driver. He said he makes a lot of money when it rains because the mini engines hydrolock when they go through the puddles. This can't help their sales.

CR Biased-No Not At All
You really give them too much credit. They don't know squat and that includes toasters.

CR Biased-No Not At All
I thake it to mean that in the year following the second birthday of the American car vs. all repairs in the year folowing the 7th birthday of the Japanesse car. However, it is always a mistake to assume and competancy for CR.

CR Biased-No Not At All
CR doesn't take any advertising! That is part of their claim to fame and why too many people believe them. One of the statements in the article struck me as strange. They report that 3 year old American cars have more repairs than 8 year old Japanesse cars. I suspect that 3 years old is probably one of the worst years of car ownership. About this time tires brakes, and battery go south. I wonder if a 3 year old chevy doesn't have more repairs than an 8 year old chevy too?

CR Biased-No Not At All
I really don't think Consumer Reports is biased. I think that they are totally incompetant. Reading their $h! is bad for you. They are sophomoric in their analysis. They are stupid in their insights. Their people rode to school on the short bus. The editor just learned to tie his shoe laces last year. Their feature writer has training whells on there bicycles. Now I feel a little better - thanks for helping.

SKY ON SATURN.COM!
saturn's pricing stratergy is this coutry is not always clear. The only rule is that everyone pay the same price at any particluar dealer.usually, but not always that price is MSRP minus rebates when in effect. Regarding the SKY; I've read that some dealers are charging as much as $5000 over list but others are at MSRP.

Saturn's rebirth vexes Chevy dealers
All saturn dealers in the U.S. are stand alone. In Canada, in the past, Saturn was paired with Isuzu and Saab. Another difference between CAnada and the U.S. is that in Canada the dealers accept GM card rebates, but in the uNited States Saturn dealers do not.

Saturn's rebirth vexes Chevy dealers
while I agree that the much fewer number of Saturn dealers would lower costs, the fact that these are all stand alone dealerships and that they have a higher profitability than other GM dealerships, would raise the costs of killing Saturn.

A bit of good sales news...
A salesperson over at saturnfans.com reports that his store's feb sales are up over 20 units for Feb already.

My 'Outlook'
If no one objects, I would like to talk cars. <<So what about the Acadia? "The GMC is hot," the Lansing State Journal reported Welburn as saying. "It has got a flair. I think it will surprise a lot of people." Perhaps GM has finally learned that its customers want distinctive models. >> That quote comes from this article , a seondary source. In general the article describes how the Outlook will not look like the Enclave which has premiered at the auto show. The quote was interesting to me because it seems to be hinting that GMC's version, the Arcadia, may be the best of the trio. That would be surprising considering how little it has been discussed in the past. Time wil tell.
