  1. Because that's not what GM is going to do. Pontiac is going to be killed outright. Alpha should go to Pontiac not Buick. G8 is done after this generation. Solstice, likely done also. All the cars Pontiac should be keeping, are getting killed along with the useless ones. I could care less if the G6 Vibe Torrent and G5 die. But don't take away the cars that should be Pontiacs. I would actually be happy if Pontiac consisted of the G6 on Alpha, the G8 on Zeta and the Solstice. That would build up Pontiacs image of performance, and would set the brand up perfectly for the future.
  2. G6 is older than anything in Buicks or GMCs lineup. G5 is a joke. Solstice, is obviously low volume. G8 is doing good, and wasn't meant to see 100k a year. The Vibe is a hatch, in a country that has no love for hatches. Torrent is on it's way out, and is another joke rebadge. Buicks average age is also up in the 60s while Pontiacs is in the low 50s I believe. If people stop buying Buicks now, big deal, thats probably that last car they will own in their lifetime anyway. Without Pontiac, it is sending away people like me, 24 years old, that still have decades of car buying left ahead of me.

That's good then. I know GM is not as simple between their engines and cars, such as 3.8s in say, a Grand Prix compared to a Regal.
  4. They won't. They will keep buying their Corollas or Cobalts and look down on us because we like some fun and performance in our cars.

Taking an engine from a 300M and putting it in an Intrepid will likely complicate a swap. That is what your doing right? Even though they are similar, there are still most likely going to be some minor differences between the 2 that could make it a real headache. Have you read about anyone doing similar swaps?
  6. I like the switch. I would rather have a twin turbo V8 than a V12 anyway.

That happened to me a few months ago. I had roommates staying with me, and they had a boxer. Usually he got along with my dogs fine, but he kept getting more aggressive, and him and my pit bull went at it. My pit bull wouldn't fight back though, and it seems like he thinks he's the protector of the other dogs. He even pinned the boxer down multiple times, but always backed off. I ended up having to take him to get his face stitched up at 3 am. I'm glad the roommates and their dog is gone now though.
  8. Well my stocks are up 45% since I have put some money into them around Jan, so it's looking like it will be a pretty good year for me. I sold my Mazda, and the money I got from that along with my income tax return money went into stocks. There are good opportunities everywhere when the market is in a panic.
  9. And more to add to that, the G8's sales are up, even when people are scared to buy GM because they don't know if GM will be around 6 months from now. Last time I looked at the sales charts, the only vehicles I remember being up were the G8, Malibu retail but not total, and Vibe.
  10. What vehicle in the current market doesn't have cash on the hood? Last I heard, the all-mighty Toyota is offering record rebates too. Regardless, when the rest of GM is down over 50%(while having those same rebates), even a 1% increase in sales could be considered a good thing. Yay is right.
  11. I've only owned 1 Chevy, the rest were Pontiacs. Haven't owned any other GM brands.
  12. You're right. Few Pontiac fans are Honda or Toyota fans. They would go to Nissan, Mazda, or VW, but not Honda or Toyota. I know That's where I would go.
  13. That's irrelevant. Look at the numbers for all of GM. Buick will be under 100k soon. Pontiac was down less than the rest of GM was down last month.
  14. I think my comparison is valid. GM could make money if everything was imported from China like Wal-Mart does. That was my point. But GM can't import everything so they are like Wal-Mart(undercutting everyone in price, and trying to be the volume leader), but everything is built here so it costs more to build it than what they can sell it for.
  15. It must be different from the GTO. It has never stopped me from putting it into 3rd.
  16. Or GM could continue being the Wal-Mart of vehicles, the only difference being that GM has to make vehicles here, and Wal-Mart imports everything from China. And GM can continue to spiral into irrelevance and record losses before filing for ch. 7 bankruptcy. They operate in a high cost country, it only makes sense that they can not continue to undercut everyone else in price. They need to find their niche, and sell their cars for a premium. Unless they will be allowed to import everything from China, they will not be able to compete on small cars.
  17. Since I always skip from 1st to 3rd anyway, the skip shift never has any effect. There really is no point of shifting into 2nd gear with 400hp unless your racing.
  18. And I'm sure Alpha with a 4cyl could get over 30MPG, and the Camaro, even with it's size can get 29 MPG. Even with gas at $4 didn't GM still sell over 400,000 trucks? When is the last time any other GM vehicle did that?
  19. That only happens when you make too many of what you are selling. For GM, sales has been their only goal, at any cost. I don't know about you, but I would rather sell 100 of something, and make $10 on each, than to sell a million of something, and lose $1 on each. GM can NOT make money on small cars, that's why GM sells trucks. They can sell them for double the price of a Cobalt, but cost less than double to make. Would you rather own Porsche or GM?
  20. Who cares about sales? If GM could trim down their overhead costs, each one of those vehicles would have a nice profit margin as opposed to selling Cobalts, Aveos, and everything else they sell with $3000 off the sticker price.

To get a return on your investment, there actually has to be an investment.... A new nose on a Cobalt, an old reskin of a Malibu, a reskin of a Toyota, that's hardly an investment.
  22. If only GM could just stop trying to do what they are not good at, and focus on what they are good at. Trucks, and RWD performance cars. Let Toyota sell appliances to people who want appliances, and GM can sell Camaros, Trans Ams, GTOs, and Corvettes to people who want cars that made American car companies as great as they once were.

Thank you Holden for developing Zeta. Without you, all we would have is Epsilon, Delta, and the ancient W bodies.

No more modding for me until my vehicles have no payments. But if money wasn't a factor: Headers Corsa Exhaust New rims Twin turbos Upgrade suspension all around 600hp to the wheels sounds very fun
  25. Unless your going to take into the account the 65%+ of Chargers that go to fleets, stop comparing the G8 to the Charger. Not to mention, how long has the Charger been on the market compared to the G8? Years compared to months?
